Hahaha, the smoke from a campfire will always find you no matter how many times you move. A quality shooting stick is worth its weight in gold. That’s a handy little secret Lance, makes it all the more steady. Good stuff buddy !

I swear I'm like a smoke magnet..lol..Thanks for watching Don! This was the first year I have ever owned a shooting stick and now I see what I have been missing all these years. I hope you and Karen are having a great Friday so far and that back is still getting better! I y'all have a great weekend brother!!

It smoke had been fine till I started filming..lol.. It has been fun to target practice with and the bottom of the stick will stick into the ground if it is soft to make it even more stable. I hope y'all have a great weekend Kat!! Thanks for watching!!

@@mullisoutdoors That’s awesome! We did some target practicing out here a couple weekends ago. We haven’t gotten our fire pit going this Spring yet. It is either too windy or it’s raining. But soon.

I've got a couple of Allen shooting sticks and one set of collapsible X frame sticks. Have a great week, my friend.
@mullisoutdoors2 жыл бұрын
I have thought about giving the x frame ones a try just to see how they do vs this one. This one has really grown on me and I like that I can use it as a trecking pole. Makes me want to try a set of trecking poles also, I just don't know enough about them yet to know what kind I want. Thanks for watching John and I hope y'all have a great weekend!!

I'm disabled now but can walk a little. So I tend to be pretty rough on shooting sticks (I need them because I am very physically unsteady). When my old one broke beyond repair I took the yoke off & screwed it onto a T-Post top insulator. Now I can use T-posts as a rest or just place the gadget on anything else that gives me solid elevation, I can still shoot offhand but have a third point of contact to assist me. Cheers Mark.
@mullisoutdoors Жыл бұрын
That's very inventive Mark. Sounds like that would be pretty sturdy. I'm thinking about putting a mounting screw for the yoke on a walking stick I made to get it up a little higher for when I'm squirrel stalking. The shooting stick it's mounted to just isn't high enough to get to the tree tops without me sitting on the ground and I want to get able to prop up quick because those little guys move fast..lol..Thanks for watching brother!!
@markg.cheshire3337 Жыл бұрын
You can try rigging something where you can use the stick in short mode braced against your body or even attach some kind of boot onto your belt to set the bottom in. Like a saltwater fishing rig. I typically brace my shooting stick with my leg. If I am sitting I often wrap my left leg around it & tuck it in against me to compensate for my nerve & muscle tremors. I'm an old Marine 0321 so I'm used to shooting in crappy conditions & positions. I can still shoot a bow at 60# on my better days (But more often 55#). The push/pull shooting form with a bow creates it's own brace (like a Weaver pistol stance) & works well for me as a disabled person. Which is funny because the weight of a rifle or pistol even causes my nerves to make my limbs go dead after just a few minutes. That may be a concept to keep in mind.

@@markg.cheshire3337 Thanks Mark, I'll try that and see if I can make it work. I'm always up for trying something new.
