You can fix a lot of problems with your riding by using your lines tension properly. When they teach, they don't explain this topic in details, however it's one of the most important aspects of using your kite properly.

Nice! So engaging your leg muscles can actually cause more line tension than just using your body weight. Hence I always felt I can hold more power with a waist harness rather than a seat harness, though many people say the opposite.
@antonchernyshov8759
@antonchernyshov8759 3 жыл бұрын
Hi! Extending your legs definitely create some extra tension, especially together with leaning back more and edging the board more. But it's about creating a pulse of tension, it's a short increase of load.
@pr4nk5tr
@pr4nk5tr 3 жыл бұрын
@@antonchernyshov8759 Would you also say that depends on the kite? E.g. with a c-kite, more about riding in fast, building a progressive edge and sending it fast, whereas a slow turning kite like the XR would be more about carving upwind as sharp as possible (maybe even doing that pre-load pop before) to compensate for the lack of sending speed? XR seems to jump more downwind as opposed to the side to side pendulum motion from c-like kites.

hello great video 😃 I have a question concerning line drag, tension and kite reaction turning speed. I have always flown with 25m ozone lines with my 7m in 35-40knots thinking longer lines will always go higher because of the power stroke plus in a storm there a bit more of a comfortable ride in the strong wind, However I do have a set of 23m ozone lines would this be more of an advantage instead of the 25m lines in the strong wind mentioned, this is for Bigair jumping only, woo scores (not powered kite loops) any help much applicated thankyou.

Great to see you in video again Anton! I think that there is also an intimidating component of self conservation (as natural to be) that slow down everybody of going really fast and then big, as beginner/intermediate kitesurfer I'm experiencing it, I'm trying my first jumps step by step incrementing every time to be sure of having control on the jump... (still without proper landing...) you have some suggestion on that? there are some hidden small "dangers" in making small/medium jumps the first times that a beginner should be aware of? any advice would be great, I know you have a big experience on the argument...

Hi! From my experience, there is no way to fight against our self-preserving instinct, unless you feel, that everything is safe. It's always like that with building up jump height. I go 20 OK, I feel less sure closer to 25 just because I am not sure about the landing. Height itself does not scare that much. And when I master multiple heli loops better and better, only then I feel safer. You say landing are missing. Land 10 out of 10 smoothly is the only way to feel safe. What is happening, does the board skid? Or you drop too fast?

@@antonchernyshov8759 Yeah! I'm at the very start with jumps, actually the kite always front stall probably because I'm not redirecting it for landing? or maybe I'm releasing a little the bar when I'm up... I have to release a little the bar or the bar must be kept ALL IN in any case? wich should be the maneuver to stop going up and start coming down? or I simply can't decide this and have to wait to come down when the jump energy is exhausted?
@antonchernyshov8759
@antonchernyshov8759 3 жыл бұрын
What kite do you have? And was is front stalling? Does it fall from the sky to the front, around it's leading edge? Sure, the bar is the way to control the jump. If you want to start descending, you should sheet it out. However, you can still sheet in for softer landing. Sure, the landing is better when your bar is in. Yes, sometimes we let the bar go to correct the balance. Try to analyze, how you can fix you balance to keep the bar in. For example, if you always feel like leaning to the right with your bar in, try to start leaning to the left from the beginning of jump to correct that without letting the bar go.

Hey Anton, great Video again! Is there any Tipp for maintaining full Tension while sheeting out after sending and right before the "Takeoff-Pull"? I sometimes feel like I´m loosing some Tension right there at the very last Moment, before I pull the bar in again. Keep it up, I own both of your learning to fly Episodes and love ´em. Greets! Nelson
@antonchernyshov8759
@antonchernyshov8759 3 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thanks for supporting my work! At this moment I think that only dynamic load can help you maintain full tension and use this tension for a last short sending to 12 right before lift-off. I think it can be described as series of jump-like moves you do as you approach lift-off point. It is called "pre-load pop" nowadays. You should land and hit the water hard right when your kite is about 11 o'clock already. You mass and inertia of falling down helps you to gain additional tension in the lines.

Great video, thanks. Am I right to say line tension will also be a function of a correctly trimmed kite?
@antonchernyshov8759
@antonchernyshov8759 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Sure, proper lines length is something that should be there by default. If you set the trimmer to full power and sheet the bar in with your kite at 12 (in very light wind, when sheeting in doesn't move you anywhere), your kite should start to backstall (fall towards its trailing edge) after 3-5 seconds after sheeting the bar in.

Really nice one! I wonder that no-one before came with this idea. Do you also measure the load of an Mega-Loop? But to be honest, I thought its even more load before take-off. How powered do you was?
@antonchernyshov8759
@antonchernyshov8759 3 жыл бұрын
I would not say that the yank of megaloop itself is harder, than riding powered before take-off. Obviously, you don't have any grip in the air, so not many ways to resist your kite pulling you through the loop)

@antonchernyshov8759
@antonchernyshov8759 3 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thank you! What do you mean, how I see to myself full light wind jump scenario? I think, the idea is the same, main difference is that you do that last step of sending the kite later, because big sized kite will drag you downwind more. So, for example, for 8 m kite you will do your final sending to 12 from 10.30. With big kite in light wind it would be like 11.something. If I got you right

Anton Chernyshov yes thanks - this was my point - I think I somehow struggle to adapt the timing when riding a 17m in light 14 knts or 10m at 23knts...will keep this model in mind to send the large kite later (indeed it easily pulls you downwind when really sending it...) thanks again!

Great video as always, learn to fly 1 & 2 were well worth the money, when it comes to flying lines, the lines on the core pro bar are thinner than ordinary lines and less stretchy, is this noticeable when on the water ie less drag and quicker to build lines tension ?
@antonchernyshov8759
@antonchernyshov8759 3 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thanks for supporting my work so much! Yes, I like those pro bar lines a lot! I wouldn't say that I feel less drag, but they stretch less for sure, if compared to other brands I have. Even after 1-1,5 seasons of powered loops and big air they are still in good shape. Sometimes they start to fade a bit early, regarding the color, but stay solid for long time.

Would be nice to know how much tension while cruising on a foil... If less than 5kg foiling with a leash on a drone would be an option :! -)

The measurement neglects steering line tension, which is probably much less than the harness/hook tension but not negligible? With the bar pulled all the way in, isn't the steering and power line tension supposed to be about equal?
@antonchernyshov8759
@antonchernyshov8759 3 жыл бұрын
Hey! That is a very interesting remark, thank you! Sure there is some amount of tension that is partly distributed to the bar. Especially, when you sheet it in completely and it hits the chicken loop (however, I normally don't do it that hard). So, all these measurements are for sure very approximate, just to let people know, what amount of pull should they feel on their harness hook. Comparing front and back line tension amounts they are for sure far from being equal. Imagine. This hand scale gave me about 100 kg of load on the hook when riding powered. I know, I am not able to lift such weight with my bar) I would let it go, I think)

Hi Anton, once again - awesome tutorial! Thanks so much! Don´t know how often I watched your Learning to fly - Tutorials until today! I just received my new Core 3+ Bar and we will be in Greece the next 3 weeks to try it out :) Can´t wait. Can I ask you one thing? In your Learning to fly - Tutorials you are not a friend of a preload pop e.g. like Mike is showing it kzbin.info/www/bejne/bIWoo6aHiLZ3brM. Or is this something you would recommend as well? Thanks for all & have a great windy summer! Best regards from Munich Daniel

Hey, Daniel! Thanks for you comment! Man, I still don't have that third generation bar, can't wait) Regarding that pre-load pop, I would say, that that skill is much harder than it looks like. I see people trying to copy that and having they height decreased as a result. However, this technique definitely works and if you are able to perform it properly, it gives you very powerful boost and tons of hangtime, it feels like another world of jumps. But it deserves another episode of Learning To Fly to explain it in details) You should master powered stance for sure, and be able to push off from water and bend your knees aggressively to "suck" the board up from the water. The trick is to pop with high lines tension level and your kite at 40 degrees, which is pretty tricky in the beginning. It's not an ollie, it's a "powered pop".
