I don’t think I gave him any credit beyond a bit of fanfare in the opening crawl? George Lucas was the one to say Guybrush was bland though which promoted the team to make him more interesting! Mission success 😁

Destroying your own ship isn't an "overestimate" on the players part, it's actually the default behavior if you just walk up there and push the rock without turning the launcher below. A majority of folks who weren't following guides likely did this, so it makes sense that it's canon.

As far as I know, brush is not the file ending but just the name for objects or so within the Deluxe Paint software. So his name doesn't really come from "guy.brush" but rather "the guy-brush".

The paintbrushes had file extensions ending in ".brush." So you're both right.

Wrong, MSDOS only suppoted a maximum of 8 characters for the file name plus 3 characters for the file extension. Deluxe paint always used .DPM as extension. So the full file name must have been guybrush.dpm
