Watchmen is an American graphic novel limited series published by DC Comics in 1986 and 1987, and collected in 1987. The series was created by a British collaboration consisting of writer Alan Moore, artist Dave Gibbons, and colorist John Higgins.

I never really got the whole "Dr. Manhattan is losing touch with people". If you think about it the ant metaphor doesn't really hold up, not just because he was raised as a human, but also because there are two sides to the ant metaphor: If you're on the other side looking at an ant hill then it stands to reason you're a person, you have companions. Dr. Manhattan has no one on his level, all he has is humanity. Without humanity he'd be totally alone. Maybe what we're seeing in the comics is just depression. How many times have you heard of a depressed person saying they wish they could hide from the world? Well that's what he does.

I just watched the episodes of Justice League Unlimited where they're chasing Chronos thru time. They get to the scene where Chronos travels to the beginning of time, where The Hand is holding all of creation. It blows my mind to think that that blue hand was/could be Dr. Manhattan.
