Does a white background add more depth? What about fish behavior? I heard that black is better to shy fish. In white background I can see less colours of plants, fish etc., black is better in this focus. What you think about it? Thanks for yours comments. I cant choose if black or white... 😕

Co2 usage varies with water temperature, so the problem you have in the question, is not when temperature in summer or winter makes a cilynder pressure variation, but the absorption of co2 because of the water temperature. If that makes sense.

Hi Tommy, can you please give a tip on how to increase PH in the aquarium? In my aquarium I have Tropica substrate and water from Reverse Osmosis. I have a PH of about 6, which is low. Most common PH enhancers contain sodium, which is not suitable in large quantities. I add KHCO3, but also in limited amounts, due to the total amount of potassium in the water. Do you have any experience with this? What can help to effectively increase the PH? Thank you for your tips, Jan

Posted the question before but I’ll try again! How do you deal with the seiryu stone raising the gh and kh of tank water if you’re trying to house shrimp? Or just in general? Do you find that it continually raises it when you dose co2 and do you do anything about that?
@GreenAquaShop
@GreenAquaShop 3 жыл бұрын
This is normal with these stones. You can't do anything with it. Hardness will fluctuate between water changes. Some plants can stress and surely some shrimp would be better without it, but there are zillions of examples where people keep shrimps with these stones, including some of our aquariums as well. So nothing to worry about really. Just enjoy the scape with these stones.

@GreenAqua Why do you use Seachem Excel in a planted tank with C02? I’ve noticed in several maintenance videos your dosing Excel. Is that normal practice? What is the best solution for hot summers in Planted Tanks? Considering Chillers and ACs which are really costly. Do changing the water daily help in summers where the temperature in my room rises above 35 Deg Centigrade at times? I use fans which I feel are not good enough in bringing down the temperature.
@BioTechproject27
@BioTechproject27 3 жыл бұрын
Fans are your best choice if you want the cheapest yet effective options. Position them in a way that blows over your water in a shallow angle, replace evaporated water with RO/destilled water, open windows/doors to help the water vapor escape.
@GreenAquaShop
@GreenAquaShop 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah but in such a high temp this does not help too much. Unfortunately in some cases probably better to put the hobby on hold and do that in the next 9 months or so. Alternatively just use super easy and heat tolerant plants. Since you can't manage the sensitive ones with these conditions.

I have a bristlenose pleco in a planted tank..anubias petite, bucephalandra, monte carlo carpet, java fern, cryptocorynes, christmas moss, eleocharis parvula...no problems for already several years. Of course the pleco can loosen some plants on hardscape because it will try to hide during day time, for that reason make a permanent hiding place for it. Also put in some driftwood (soft wood type), the pleco will munch on it.

Why is fishkeeping a high-priced hobby all over the world? I believe this is the biggest factor that discourages people from joining the Hobby. Hello from Brazil!
@BioTechproject27
@BioTechproject27 3 жыл бұрын
1. Just like with everything, if it were more common, then producing things in higher numbers would cost less, thus the price overall would decrease. 2. High quality stuff just costs a lot, that's how it always is. For example the LED lights aren't your basic piss-yellow standart lights that are specifically made for your eyes. These are lights designed for photosynthesis as well as looking nice, bringing out certain colors, having long lifecycles, etc.
@GreenAquaShop
@GreenAquaShop 3 жыл бұрын
The hobby in general not expensive at all. Join to a community and swap plants, fish etc if you're tight on budget. Buy 2nd hand goods many of them are good ones from the previous owner. But just like with everything these days you can have access to better equipments, quality off the shelf plants etc with a higher price tag. But even if i compare my high end aquariums to my other hobby (photography) i can tell aquascaping is still way cheaper. So costs are relative.

Won't, doing a water change, through CO2 time on, in the middle of the cycle, cause a ph fluctuation that could affect your fish?
@microcox
@microcox 3 жыл бұрын
What I hear generally is that most fish don't really care about pH. However plants care about stable CO2, and yes a waterchange during CO2 on will cause a big change in CO2 concentration which isn't good for the plants.
@BioTechproject27
@BioTechproject27 3 жыл бұрын
Depends on how big your water change is, how much different the water itself is in composition, etc. Usually it is well enough buffered that the change won't be that big and there is always a good amount of CO2 dissolved in tap water, although that depends on region I guess.

@BioTechproject27
@BioTechproject27 3 жыл бұрын
This isn't really a question for an aquascaping channel. Either way, diseases can be divided into 2 main groups: External and internal. And also into the categories of who causes it: bacteria, parasites, fungi. The first sign that your fish may be sick is that they have slow reaction times (just like when we are sick for example). The most common and easy to spot ones are external ones. Bacteria: the skin becomes white as the bacteria consume the flesh, either as spots (usually fins or the mouth parts are the first to be eaten) or as large parts if it went long unnoticed. Very much treatable with antibiotics like acriflaviniumchloride, methylthioniniumchloride, etc. Parasites: Often fish excrete lots of slime coating (they look like they are covered in a white-ish cloud) as they try to flush the parasite, often times they also start rubbing/swimming really fast against decoration, trying to rub it off. The most common one is ichthyophthiriosis, in this case white bumps that appear on the fish skin, easily treatable and often very survivable, as long as they don't look like a christmas tree with stuff like malachitegreenoxolate and formaldehyde. Fungal: pretty much same as the other two. However you always have to be careful what fish you have and what you're giving them, some fish, like discus or chocolate guramis are very sensitive to such treatments, especially that antiparasitic one can be dangerous to invertebrates and chondrichthyes. Always ask your local fishstore that's specialised in aquatic animals.

Seperate them, Increase the water temp to 28 deg and add rock salt which doesn't have iodine.. for a week or so and then add them back .. make sure in the separate tank u keep doing water change every day.. u may find lot of videos on KZbin on this topic

@@apurva618 This works on external parasites, not internal. External parasites would dry up faster than the fish, thus they would die first. Internal ones would just be constantly supplied with water from the fish and thus both would die simultaneously.

Some plants are fish/shrimp/snail magnet :) But many times these creatures just do their job with the damaged plant. So i would focus first on plant health.

In higher Temp, it is harder to dissolve a gas into a solid. therefore you need to inject more Co2. that's what the question is about.

Probably your filter will not keep up with the task and fish will be stressful as they do not have their area to relax.

Not sure why, but sometimes we miss a couple of languages due to technical reasons. We do the auto-translating, and then it disappears from the list. Anyways, I checked it now, and you have the French subs, enjoy!

Fine filter pad needs to be before the biological media like matrix. Matrix is very fine pores that dirty water will block and all that myth about matrix and anaerobic bacteria won’t work. It doesn’t work anyway because of the biofilm on the media and even clean water won’t get to the micro pores. That’s why oase uses plastic media and have in on the bottom of the canister filter , the turbulence moves it and it doesn’t get blocked.
@GreenAquaShop
@GreenAquaShop 4 ай бұрын
There are many ways to do this. We never used this method as fine filter mesh is mainly there for optical reasons, not to help bio media. If you have too much organic waste in your filter, it means your filter is not big enough for the task. How effective is it? We have a pretty good track record here on KZbin as well. Cheers 👍

Regarding the time of the water change, it's best when it's not your tank's prime time, let's say you alr turned on the light, the co2, and the plants start to photosynthesis. And then you change the water, the co2 fluctuate during that. And you ruined their food 😂😂. Think about that.
