Jeff, we have lost so many characterful watch youtubers in the past few years like Simon, KDP Ross, J Anthony and the legend, Johnny Casual. I want you to keep making videos. You are the metawatchenthusiast pied piper. Keep on piping and I will follow. Hopefully not off a cliff though!

Another brilliant and thought provoking piece. My wife has 2 watches. A Tag Heuer Aquaracer daily and an Omega Constellation dress. Both are quartz because she can't be fagged with winding them and I am in constant admiration.

I just wear my Citizen BN0118-04E almost all the time. It is my watch. Together with the Casio 5610 for running and tough jobs. The rest just feels like ballast right now in my life. I am done with setting the time and servicing watches.

I am one of those people who sold their collections for one grail piece. Its now 2 weeks since i have done that and its getting harder. My brain wants to justify a new watch purchase and makes me think that I need at least 2 watches because I am putting my grail watch at risk of damaging it if I wear it all the time. I won't buy another watch, but I think it is amusing how the brain tries to trick you like in a real addiction.

My wife has a Longines Hydroconquest 39mm quartz black dial with a faulty date which gets stuck between days. She is happy with just the one watch and would never consider another watch. One day I will be happy with one watch. I dropped to 3 watches once upon a time but now im back up to 6 with 4 on the way. The only good thing is I do sell watches for a living so could easily get rid of the collection quickly.

I am actually proud of myself that I haven't made a purchase since January and in fact fought off a recent urge (strong) to buy a new piece (Orca). I have two nice watches in their boxes as I decide whether to keep or sell...while my wearing habit has come down to two (both dive style - aquaracer and retrozilla) I should mention the four 'dress' watches that sit in the case.

Main issue is that their holy grail watch is out of reach in terms of either price or availability so they buy watches to fill that hole of not having the one you really want. Before you know it, you have a collection and we are programmed to get things to feed our cravings. It's like a last resort.

I think like any "addiction" it feels safe, even when we know it's not always good for us. Like any "addiction" it's the fear of the "hole" it leaves in our life if we do break away from it. Stepping out of our normal, even when we know it can be negative, can be scary, and keep us trapped in a perpetual cycle of dissatisfaction. Or we may just enjoy talking about watches and knowing others share the commonalities that we have 😁 Either way enjoying the content McMahon 👍

I do love how you have been so forced on Seiko over the years. I wasn't that impressed with the MM300, I think the braclet let it down for me. An Omega diver is worth the extra money over a MM300. The Captian Willard (42mm) however was amazing.

Just can’t stand Omega helium escape valve 🤣🤣🤣 just like a big warp and ugly to be honest
@Mr-Merchant.2 жыл бұрын
@@daddykool9507 Never got the issue people have with the helium escape valve, it's like saying I don't like chronos because they have pushers. The bracelet I understand.
@drdesign68862 жыл бұрын
@@Mr-Merchant. people buy chrono’s to use the pushers and time stuff (or at least play with the timing function). Nobody buys the Omega for the HE valve. And others do the valves so much nicer flush on the case. It’s an unnecessary wart. I get lots of ppl like the look, but equally many people hate it. I do t really mind either way, I’m not an omega fan as I simply haven’t found a design I like from the brand. Yet.
@Mr-Merchant.2 жыл бұрын
@@drdesign6886 Most people that don't like the HE valve, base it purely on it's astheics and the same goes for pushers regardless of functionality. I'd take a 300m with a wart over a mm300 with a stamped clasp personality.
@manuel_winde2 жыл бұрын
I never understood the dislike of the mm300 bracelet, have owned the black and blue variant and both times the bracelet seemed absolutely fine. Rolex leads the way in bracelets for me but otherwise with an adjustable clasp it’s preferable to speedy bracelets or the one on my old Tudor bb58.

That is very funny. You're a funny guy! Okay, seriously, like 6 months ago, you did a video about a Citizen Diver, super titanium, GPS Satellite Wave, Eco-Drive... You got the green one. I just got the blue one about a month ago, the 5006.... WHAT A GREAT WATCH! This might be the most underappreciated and underrated timepiece on the planet at this time, July of 2022.... Unbelievable. Now, I know, you want to be funny, you want to make your videos, I get that.... I will say, since I got the Ball, and another Swiss Piece.... That has settled me down A LOT.... the Citizen, was the first watch I bought in 14 months.... Okay, do I still watch your videos?? Sure. Do I still like watches?? Sure. I get a little confused, with your assertions of "I want a smaller watch collection"... I never wanted that. Now, to be fair (to be FAIR, your honor), I never had an Invicta problem like you did.... So, if I have too many Seiko Samurais... ???? I don't view that as a problem. I am comfortable with the quality of those watches. From time to time, I wear them. They are lovely. That's the pain, right there, that there are only so many days in a week, to wear so many nice watches.... These are tough decision... I still have your Seiko... I still love it... I still wear it. I found out, if you wear it once or twice on the X Country ski machine, it charges up beautifully.... So yeah. I take my ownership of your former watch very seriously. I have a duty, to be a good custodian of that watch.... That being said, if you want to sell the MM300, I am right here. I have no doubt you still have my info. Hit me up, I'll buy it.... If you lost my info, Patrick Morrissey on Facebook, message me, I'll buy it.... and when you want to buy it back, I'll sell it back... Maybe.... I'm in Florida now, so.... You wnat to retire in Hawaii... And I love that, I am not putting that down... All I could afford is Florida. And I do love it. Compared to Wisconsin? Stop Playin. It's a million times better...
