📜 Video Description 📜
While many players are stuck in a rut and trying to copy solver outputs, there is still a very clear way to generate a large winrate at cash game poker and it is all about asking yourself the right questions in each and every poker hand that you play. In this video I review a bunch of interesting hands from my own poker challenge where I am trying to generate a large sample at a very big win rate at 100 Rush and Cash on GG Poker.

Hey Peter, Have you ever thought about making a video discussing your journey into solver/frequencies/rolling every decision. Followed by, your emergence from trying to emulate pure solver play to a more exploitative approach grounded in theory? This would make a fine "History of the Carrot" video and a good one for year end.

The hand at 8:00 I seriously think you should consider minclicking this back on the river instead of folding, A of spades bets super often earlier in the hand IP and I can’t think of a Qx spade combo that doesn’t either. That combined with people don’t raise thin enough I think this is super over bluffed. I saw it and instantly thought click v this raise

Started laughing during that AKo hand on KJJ3Q, because my first instinct facing that b33 OTR was to consider raising, absolutely never ever folding there. Probably would have ended up calling though, too thin to raise. Also loved the thought process in the J9hh hand bvb, I would have loved to see you go even bigger there due to the read we had, but still an amazing play. Thanks for all of your content here in KZbin and CPS (have watched grade E and Cash Injection), both of them have significantly improved my game.

I think it's pretty cool to associate playstyles with animals fish = passive goes with the flow donkey=wild, does nonsense shark= stealthy, beats everyone Unfortunately there's too much negative connotation some of these words, people just wont take it well, not to say calling someone a fun player is any better than calling someone a fish, if someone's trying to get better at poker it probably will be badly received either way. On the flipside, I think if someone's playing for fun and not taking it seriously at all, "fish" or "donkey" seems less appropriate and probably offends them more 🤠
@CarrotCornerPoker
@CarrotCornerPoker 5 ай бұрын
And I’d argue that the problem here is the tendency to start with the assumption that the highest value goal is to reduce all offence. If ‘Fish’ is a better term that adds more entertainment and colour to the game then a few people can be mildly offended as far as I’m concerned. If any one is seriously upset by something like this then they must have a pretty awful existence.
@MiamiConfusion
@MiamiConfusion 5 ай бұрын
@@CarrotCornerPoker I think it's cool to like the term enough where you think it's worth keeping! While I think it's important to speak your truth and not walk in egg shells, I'd rather avoid upsetting people at the table, especially out of concern that they leave/get demoralized. Just because I don't think the reward(getting to use a cool word), outweighs the risk(making someone not want to play with you.) I think it's a fun discussion, raises questions like: "if you call someone a fish, do they start playing tighter? What about a fun player?"
@CarrotCornerPoker
@CarrotCornerPoker 5 ай бұрын
Yeah and I don’t think calling an individual a fish directly to their face is good behaviour. There’s a difference between using the term to denote a level of ability in the abstract and then hurling it as an insult at the table.
@MiamiConfusion
@MiamiConfusion 5 ай бұрын
yeah but for arguments sake, wouldn't you say that if you make content and label people as fishes in your content, isn't that similar to calling someone a fish to their face?@@CarrotCornerPoker
@CarrotCornerPoker
@CarrotCornerPoker 5 ай бұрын
No I don’t think it’s the same at all. In a video it’s used factually to denote something. At the live poker table it’s at least charged if not aggressive and the intent is almost always to cause offence. Intent really matters when it comes to what we should and shouldn’t say IMO.

@@deathbymonkeys no crusher ever posts graphs including their rakeback lol. Your winrate in a pool is used to judge your ability Vs the other players, rakeback comes into EV expectation on top of your BB/100 winrate. Including rakeback in your BB/100 is disingenuous, and is only a relatively recent trend because of many regs being breakeven/ losing before RB in pools such as GG RnC. Signed, online poker pro.

Well in the last hand you say you have "the nuts" but you don't have the nuts when the second 2 appears on the river. You have the nut flush (maybe the "effective nuts?") but the nuts is of course quads and a boat beats you as well. Nonetheless I would also be all in because his betting line is scared - if I was him and had a set on that board I would bet it. If I got massively raised I would fold and if I had implied odds to continue because your raise encouraged that I would hope for the boat which came. At my aquarium of a local game (NYC) I would get stacked with that flush about 40% of the time by fish who flop a set (or even two pair) and try for a high hand (and associated prize) by filling up. That's "street poker." Having said all that, your videos are excellent and my game is getting better as a result. It is truly amazing how often a 2x pot bet on the river gets called by worse.

As a hybrid live and online player 3/5 5/10 live and 100/200NL online... It's very scummy to use fish at the poker table or seat change vs recreationals just trying to have fun. It makes the game uncomfortable for them and it's your job to make them as comfortable as possible while playing so they not only stay longer, but enjoy themselves more while enevitably losing money.

I like your street smart play. You win a lot of hands in the video, why don't you show more hands that you lose ? I think you are an ok player and you got lucky most hands you won for instance the 9Ts hand you blowed up a lot of money and with a lot of luck you hit the river. You clearly played your range -EV the bigger your flush part in your hand is the more losing you play it and if you play 9Ts you have more flushes that lose. But ok, fish do get lucky sometimes.

@@CarrotCornerPoker What are the blinds in 100NL and 200NL? I liked it better when it was described as 1/2 NL or 5/10NL or 10/20NL. I also liked it better when it showed you your money value in your stack instead of how many big blinds you have. Online poker has only gotten worse it seems and it has always been rigged to hold you back in my opinion. Back before I quit playing online poker the only way to win good money was to play higher limits like 5 dollar/10 dollar blinds no limit and hit and run on multi-site. When I quit was when the netwallet Skrill/Moneybooker quit servicing Canadians gambling transactions making it much more of a hassle to multi-site, because then you needed to have a different net-wallet for every different site or skin of a site instead of one net-wallet for all the sites. Online poker is not random. They shouldn't even be allowed to call it "Texas Hold'em, or Poker". It's been rigged for action to maximize rake feed since inception. I hate online poker and the greedy bastards that own the sites, and also whoever created the rigged, fraudulent software. The people should be able to have a trustworthy truly random game online.

Juat a recap about how I run at online. Omaha, dude sits down. He BLIND SHOVES ALL IN. I have AJ97 btn. I go all in. What do you think opponent has? Double suited AAxx, n he scoops the pot n leaves. Odds was around 1/1000. So, that means... I need to run that same spot 1000 times, to tie the variance. But ofc... This shit happens one after another hands... Look at this shit. One hand in 5 card omahs heads up. We both held n the table held only 5 types of cards, 9 7 5 4 2. In a way, he gets 1 outer ultimate nuts vs my second nuts. The odds is 1/56 000 000 000. My simulations havent yet found that scenario. 50 million trys is where I stopped, because math is correct... They say about variance... Yed, variance expanded into infinity. According to pokercraft, my runs have been for 5 years "worst run ever". This means, I win a coinflip w 16-20% of the time.... In a long run of 600 000 hands. Yees... Variance.... That must be it 😂😂😂😂 Online poker is a fraud, stop playing.
