The secret to a clean engine (M272 & M273) oil seperator and cam caps.

The cam plugs were leaking on my M272, and I pulled them out, wiped the plugs and the surfaces they go into, clean, and reinserted them with a bead of RTV. I let the RTV sealant cure overnight before restarting the engine, and never had a leak since from those areas.

I don’t know why but I’ve got 410k miles and never had the driver side cam plugs leak. There most likely original.. Thanks for the video, as these simple fixes will help future and current owners of mercedes of this era save on maintenance that can add up in cost.

Thank u for your video,, bro I have question , Wanna ask you my 08 w204 C220 it has 140ks always serviced by previous owner at Mercedes, I bought it year ago and last two days when I starts car no white smoke then when I drive it it start smokes while, dose ur car make white smoke before u replace those caps ?? but I have white smoke I have no oil leaks at all I checked engine all around and under there is no one drop not even my coolant level is same no leaks at all , it smokes, is it DPF sensor or Valve oil catch? What you suggest?? Thank u again 😊

Hi mate, these cam caps and oil seperator has nothing to do with white smoke, these usually cause oil leaks from back of the engine. I am not a diesel mechanic but if your car has Adblue system you might want to check and diagnose using Star. Oil causes blue smoke btw.
