I ordered this product on their launch day, been using it for 2 months, and this is my comment: I’ll admit I'm no Gordon Ramsay in the kitchen. My repertoire of dishes is pretty limited. But let me tell you, this product is a life-changer for carnivores like me. The built-in probe and pre-set program is just like my personal cooking coach, ensuring my meat is cooked to best result every single time. Highly recommend this one to carnivores who want the best cooking results in an easy way!

You definitely get the benefit of fryer & temperature probe integration. To use one, you use both. The same results can be achieved with a wireless thermometer probing your protein set at the same medium rare setting in the wireless proves app. Using a wireless thermometer you'd have to select whatever the closest to 'air roasting' (not frying) as possible. You could roast as high as 400F. If you want a crust to form, add a layer of butter to the top before cooking. The 'steak' setting is a 'roast' setting where air isn't circulated nearly as vigorously as the 'frying' mode. Cook as normal per the temperature probe setting. Should be the same results if not better (with the buttery crust that's developed).

Brother, I watched the America’s Test Kitchen “Cold Seared Steak” video and I’ll never go back. Put a dry steak (no salt) into a cold pan. Turn the stove on HIGH. When you hear the first sizzle, turn the stove to medium and set a timer for 2 minutes. Turn the steak every 2 minutes until it’s cooked to your preferred temperature. I got THE BEST crust I’ve ever gotten on a steak, no splatter, no mess.

2kg well marbled chuck roast. Cut into 2 inch thick portions. Dry brine in the fridge with Celtic sea salt for 24 hours. 48 -56 hours sous vide at 131F . Pull and rest for an hour wrapped in a towel and left in the bag. Pulled, dried off, and in an air fryer for 8-10 minutes at 400F. Prefect, simple, requires some planning. More budget friendly and as beefy flavoured as a ribeye!

And that view I simply don’t understand. 95% of what I described is hands off and on auto pilot. Time is only money if it takes away your personal time from doing something else. Given that a chuck roast is a fraction of the cost of ribeye, I’m actually benefiting financially.

Hi Kerry, well this is pretty much a cheaper version of the Dreo Chefmaker. You did not mention if it has a 3yr. warranty . The DREO doesn"t require the steak to be flipped half way through, and also has a BROIL function so that after the steak reaches your desired temp, you can hit broil and get a nice CRISPY crust without searing it in a skillet ! BUT, BUT, BUT, for those who are carnivore and on a tight budget , I would say to definitley get THIS over any other "airfyer" out there because the built in temp probe is the key to cooking the best steaks at home without all the guess work !
@Homesteadhow

Right, that was my thought. I get soooo many comments from folks who are new and on a budget. With the temp probe this makes it easy to cook to perfection within a fair budget.

I just cook almost any steak (T-Bone and Porterhouse are my favs with lots of fat in it) at 375 (F) for 16 to 18 minutes (20 minutes if really thick), flipping it halfway. I'm happy with that in my basic ninja airfryer.
@simonphoenix3789

I mean, it works decently well, but I don't get why you would do this rather than use an oven. I eat steak about two to four times a week, and I tried cooking it in a cast iron pan, a steel pan, air fryer, and the oven. I finally settled on reverse searing it. Its absolutely consistent and easy to do. Just put a steak (ribeye at least 1.5inches thick) in the oven at 300 for 30 minutes, check with thermometer when it gets to 20ish minutes just to be safe. I pull it out when it reaches a 100, and transfer it to a hot steel pan on the highest setting with five tablespoons of butter. Then just sear each side for a minute or two until I get a good crust and then let it rest for five minutes or so while I make a pan sauce. Its minimal work and it never fails to give a perfectly done steak. I'd tried making it directly on a pan but that is so hit and miss, plus you get that grey layer of overcooked meat near the outsides. Of course if its a thin steak, I just quickly sear it on the hottest setting available with my steel pan, but thin steaks suck, I can't seem to avoid either getting undercooked steak or overcooked steak. Given now narrow the temperature range for the perfect steak is, I think a thermometer and an oven are the way to go.

It does Rare! I have a DREO Chefmaker and it only goes as low as Medium Rare and it usually overcooks thinner steaks. It also never tells me to flip. If someone is out there shopping for a new air fryer, keep this in mind. Even if you don't want Rare steaks you may still at least want to have the option.

The latest software update for the Dreo shows the current temp of the probe while cooking in Chef Mode which is super helpful because my husband likes his steaks rare too. I also like to use Probe Mode and set the finish temp to about 100. Thinner steaks are difficult no matter. I put those in frozen solid and hit them with Broil at 450 flipping every 5 until my instant read says they're done. Sorry for the long response, I get excited talking about steak!

@@ellieb2914 My Chefmaker is updated to the latest firmware and it does _not_ show the temperature of the probe while cooking in Chef Mode. Maybe it's a regional thing. I'm already looking for the next air fryer that does it better since I want to be working out while my steak cooks not babysitting a supposedly "smart" air fryer to get the steak exactly how I like it. I don't even really want an air fryer as much as a dedicated smart steak cooker that could be programmed all the way down to blue rare with completely customizable cooking programs. I bought my Chefmaker through the Kickstarter campaign and I am really disappointed that they haven't added user-customizable cooking plans or at least the ability to choose the finishing temperate in Chef Mode or at least be able to pick Rare. I'm honestly expecting a company to be able to do this for half the price I paid for my Dreo in the next year or two.

If I didn't already have a Dreo Chefmaker, I would probably be buying one of these. This is a great little unit at a pretty attractive price point ($119 with Kerry's discount!). The only thing missing for me is the Sous Vide method of the Dreo that really is quite nice. I think you could probably still get there with this one by adding a 1/4-1/2 C water to the bottom of the air fryer to help 'baste' the meat while cooking. I also really love the grill tray. I can't believe it took this long for a company to figure out we want to SEAR our meat! Great review video Kerry!

Good demo! I always had a hard time with keeping space for an air fryer, since they’re pretty big… I never got one. It would make more sense as a carnivore, but I have a culinary background and opted for the simple, budget-friendly (non-toxic) + industry standard stainless steel pan instead. (Cast iron = too heavy/energy intensive for one, no grill access currently) A group carnivore cookoff/feast would be so fun to be a part of! ❤🥩

*_My own air fryer ribeye steak_* Bring ribeye home from store. Salt liberally on ALL sides & ALL edges. Place STEAKS on wire drying rack in refrigerator for several hours. DO NOT STACK, OR ALLOW ANY OF ThEN TO TOUCH 1 ANOTHER (This part next, varies w/thickness of steak, but my rule is ~48hrs for 3/4" steak, & ~56hrs for a 1", & around ~72hrs for a 1.25" thick ribeye. Cook @ 230°f for 4 minutes on 1 side, then turn over & cook other side 4 min @ 230°f as well. Flip again Then cook 1 minute @400°f, & flip 1 last time for another 1 minute @ 400°f. No need to rest more than 1 minute on rack outside of airfryer oven. Temps & times will vary with hours/days you dry aged, as well as the thickness of your steak. If you've never dry aged a steak for days before cooking, you have no idea what you're missing. Its critical to not overcook a dry aged steak, as its Very easy to do so. At least when compared to 1 that's brought home & cooked straight from store pkg, or thawed from your own freezer. The more you age it, the less cook time that's necessary. 👌 I won't eat them unless they are 2 days minimum in aging on drying rack, or I am completely desperate because I didn't plan ahead. Remember to salt liberally on all sides & all edges, as that does mutiple things, including the halting of bacteria from growing on your meat. You CANNOT PUT THE MEAT ON A PLATE or flat surface. It must be on a wire rack that allows air flow under the meat. I usually turn them once after the 1st 24/ to 36hrs of aging, just to be sure its adequately drying on both sides. If you're not willing to follow the drying instructions as laid out, then don't even bother trying to make the best tasting steak you have ever had. Cook times/temps will vary w/ your own desire/meat thickness, & # of days ag. The low heat, followed by that blast at the end, is awesome. Or you could do the final sear in pan as well, & would be a bit better. Assuming you're using a good quality air fryer that has wire racks vs a bucket.

My preferred method: at 6 am when I get up for work, I drop any cut of beef (oxen) into a pot, 3 teaspoons of pink salt, and cover in water. When I get home I lift the meat from the water, place it on my chopping board which is covered in 2 layers of foil, then I use a kitchen blowtorch to caramelise the outer surface. this works perfectly with everything from nose, to tail, including the soft organs, bone marrow etc 🤤🥩.

Looks like it has no stick coating in part of that construction which would make it unwise to use if you were to dump the fat from it and thankfully the part the touches the food is a stainless steel rack. If dumping fat on your meat after air frying then the air fryer needs to have a stainless steel drip tray at the very least. This air fryer is seems fine if not consuming fat from the drip tray.

How toxic is your air fryer. Look into it. Very important. Glass air fryers are your best option.

Cooked in metals from a country where there could be lead and all sorts of more toxic stuff in the metal. Don't use a air fryer.

Fry the fuckin steak in a pan like a normal person, let rest and eat. How bout a chuck or sirloin with grass fed beef fat. I eat biltong as a munchie, this guy's voice does my head in.

Not way Jose, that rib eye is getting dry brined, seared with tallow, and butter basted in in the skillet or grilled every time! That seared fat is bacon on steroids, and I'm about to cry looking at that grey steak.
