Best Theory: Blackbeard has the condition 'Fetus in fetu' (real life condition); He was born with his triplet brothers inside of him (look up Sanju Bhagat). He is a pregnant man that eats, drinks and breaths for his brothers living inside of him. When he ate his second devil fruit, it was digested and its power gained by his brother living inside of him. And because they share the same body, Blackbeard can use it. Look at a picture of 'Sanju Bhagat', he has a massive belly and very skinny arms and legs and has a strong jaw-line, exactly like Blackbeard. Both of them are not fat anywhere except their belly. BB always has his belly on show also. The story came out around 1998, and was a big Story in Asia. I'm sure Oda would have heard of the guy and thought to himself, what if both 'Sanju Bhagat' and his brother inside of him both had Devil Fruits? Thus he created Blackbeard. Confirms when Zoro says 'them' instead of 'him', when Marco says he has a weird body, and justifies the three skulls on his Jolly Roger.

I think black beard is 3 brothers due to a Completely Separate devil fruit power, definitely when he was younger of course, but there's no other explanation for his ability to use his body like that. full teeth = good missing tooth = neutral (original person) lots of teeth gone = bad Almost as if it's like his brothers are like his angel and devil on his shoulders This also shows why hes really the only one who squirms when he's in pain: He's feeling the pain 3 times more than the norm, between him and his 2 other "brothers"

We use the term "orchestrate" much differently.. I don't think Black Beard orchestrated much at all, he was just an opportunist that followed his luck and the doors that opened. Compared to someone like Law or doflamingo who actively and painstakingly planned things out. Blackbeard really is similar to Luffy in that he has exceptional luck.

Another part where Luffy and Teach are shown to be complete opposites is how their devil fruits affect their sense of pain. It is stated early in the series that Luffy doesn’t feel pain because he is rubber (queue every moment where he totally feels pain without being hit with haki). Teach, on the other hand, states he actually feels MORE pain due to his abilities. Which, honestly, you have to give him props for tanking the hits he has when he feels so much pain.

What if Blackbeard already has 3 devil fruits, and the first one he had is the zoan? Let me explain, i think Blackbeard might have the *cerberus* mythological zoan. It'd make so much sense for many reasons: first of all cerberus has 3 heads, and 4 legs. The bones shown in jolly rogers are usually femurs (long leg bone) , so if we take Blackbeard's flag, we can actually see that there are 4 bones (not 8, 8 are the number of ends) crossed, and 3 skulls, just the same amount of skulls and long leg bones of cerberus. Second of all cerberus is the guardian of the underworld. If we suppose Laugh Tale is actually where people go when they die (like you theorized), that'd actually be teasing the battle between Blackbeard and Luffy in (or just before) Laugh Tale. Last but not least, maybe the cerberus devil fruit has a special power that grants the user the ability to possess 3 devil fruits, since cerberus is actually 3 living beings in one body, and that would explain why Blackbeard has the yami yami, the gura gura, and potentially the cerberus one. And also that FOR SURE would mean the cerberus fruit is the strongest zoan.

I also have a theory about why Blackbeard was able to eat 2 devil fruits: Imagine blackbeard is born and he has a brother in him that is inside his body unable to move like just a mouth and eyes around his back that would explain why he was able to eat 2 df cause they are 2 different people . I have proof about this = remember when Marco said that his body is built different I think he might have been the only one to have seen his back ,that is why blackbeard put the black cloth on whitebeard. As Ohara said that some times he uses gura gura no mi from right and sometimes from left but in marineford he used the claw move of white beard that turns stuff upside down with his both hands . My personal theory, that I made the first time (so much time is passed ... sigh!) is that Teach has a vestigial twin in his body, or more that one. I had this idea because some years before I read a short manga (5 little volumes) called Basilisk. In this story the main antagonist is Tenzen the immortal, so called because he has (but none knows) a vestigial twin, that heal himself from the inside every time he receive a mortal blow or he die. This to me was an explanation for the "they" of Jaya, the extreme endurance, the double life quote, the never-sleep reference and finally the second (or maybe third) hearts to stare a devil power. So this theory of the Yami Yami used to "store" the second and third twin is interesting, but to me it cannot work as a good battle power. Having a normal twin is good for being in different places at the same time, like in "The Prestige" film. But if you have a twin that is in your very same place, what is the exploit into a battle system. And if he has a second, or even a third, body to explotlit why has Shiriu asked him that phrase before stealing the Gura Gura? After years I think that my theory fits better that the others, and however, the 3 number is only related to the skulls, but he doesn't appear to fits any of his actions. An additional flaw of this theory is the attempt in forcing the 3 number. Except for the Flag, and the 3 guns (that to me don't have a specific reference), I don't see any other reference. The three skulls can reference everything, starting from a divine Trinity, the 3 ancestral weapons, the 3 moon races, or probably something that we don't knows, maybe the 3 heads of 3 ... beheaded Yonkos that betrayed Xebec!

If the three Blackbeards theory is true then it's possible that not all of them actually carry the Will of D. This could explain some of the inconsistencies regarding his similarities with other Ds. We only see Blackbeard face death after he got the Yami-Yami fruit and so if he takes on the attributes of people he absorbs then it's entirely possible that his 'fear in the face of death' wasn't his but rather the people inside of him fearing death.

i like to drop my theory. Could Ancient Giants have abilities that we might not know of, such as abilities to wield multiple devil fruits powers, due to their physical appearance looking like devils and demons. Blackbeard was supposed to have a family according to sketches drawn by Oda, specifically 2 younger sisters. I’m guessing that the 2 other souls that are always mentioned in relation to him are his sisters, as his flag composes of 3 skulls, one bigger one in the middle, and 2 smaller ones (1 on either side). Bit late in the game, but still: I think, Blackbeard was able to consume more than one Devil Fruit, because they're different types. It's likely in that universe, that you can't consume two fruits of the same type. That'll kill you. No two Logia, no two Paramecia, no two Zoan. But mix them up and you're fine. Another theory: the third devil fruit target for Blackbeard is the devil fruit of law to make himself immortal. Maybe a bit far too stretched because he would have to awaken it first, right? Would also be a good parallel: while luffy would literally risk everything to save his brother, Blackbeard would have no problem sacrificing one for his own profit. Would also make a quite dramatic point I think to loose law in the story, or at least have him at risk. He does know all devil fruits, and being immortal would basically mean the eternal pirate king.

I’ve always considered blackbeard being three people, but the theory I believe is that the basis to a devil fruit within the user’s body lies in the heart, and so to gain a person’a devil fruit before it goes back into circulation, you need to eat their heart. I always just thought the "it's not he, it's them" was just referring to the fact that BB isn't alone, that he has a crew with him. That part of the Jaya arc shows the various members of his crew acting independently without it being clearly stated that they're a crew - but then at one point is reveals that they're all working together. My personal theory to do with BB is to do with the three skulls thing being seen in two other places - on Oars and Oars Jr. They both also have three skulls worn on their body in a row, exactly the same as BB's flag. Perhaps the three skull thing is an ancient giant symbol and BB is related to the ancient giants. People being giants is obviously a big thing in OP, whether it be Elbaf's repeated mentions, the giant gate by Enies Lobby, Luffy turning into a giant in G5 and that activating the giant ancient robot, the giant horned skull of Onigashima... Well there's a lot of reference and significance to giants. Perhaps giants could eat multiple devil fruit and be okay but that's been forgotten about so they don't do it, assuming the "1 fruit per person" rule also applies to them, but BB knows about it in the same way he's a rare person that knows about Xebec.

There's another theory that's pretty similar to this one, let's call it the "Blackbeard Chimera Theory". It's stated by two videos made by the channels Sylvanes and Monkey D. Business. They state that Blackbeard has a genetic condition called Tayloy Muhl condition which happens when a fetus absorbs their genetic twin in the womb and ends up carrying said twins genetic code inside them. This may imply that Blackbeard absorbed one, or more likely two twins in the womb and now has three sets of DNA inside him. Now the question is: How does this make him able to have more than one devil fruit power? It is theorized by many OP fans that one's devil fruit powers are contained not in the soul but inside their DNA/genetic code, which is why when Law swapped Smoker's and Sword lady's bodies whith each others Smoker's powers remained in his body. So if Blackbeard has three sets of DNA then that gives him the rare capability to hold three DF powers in his body.

I got an interesting set of theories for you now that ties into this one: Blackbeard isn't actually stealing fruits, he's just killing pirates that have devil fruits and his crew carries fruits with them so the fruits reincarnate into the nearest fruit. We saw Burgess carrying a big basket of fruit on Dressarosa. Why does this tie into your theory? Back to your two sides of the same coin theory, Luffy and his crew are doing the same thing without realizing it. On Punkhazard we see a devil fruit reincarnate into a normal fruit for the first time after Smiley dies, it reincarnating into an apple. In the same arc we see Monet killed, and she has a snowbunny attack. In chapter 700 when the Sunny is leaving to Dressarosa they're seen sailing on waves that look just like the snowbunnies made by Monet's fruit. That WOULD be coincidence but 3 things: 1. Nami has an orange tree full of fruits that she doesn't let anyone touch. If the fruit were to reincarnate it may have reincarnated on the ship and the bunnies were foreshadowing. 2. Oda was asked about said bunnies but completely ignored it on purpose while responding to the post: D: Regarding Chapter 700… Oops…! Good evening, Odacchi! Definitely one of the best BB theories I’ve seen. Oda seems consistent with things like teeth so the fact we see him with 3 different sets makes this a very believable theory. The theory is that Teach got his DF and then was joined by his brothers, who were then absorbed into Teach using the Yami Yami no mi to keep them in hiding. He is able to use it to pull parts of them out or completely swap positions/bodies. He used this ability to swap places with one of his brothers in order to let eat Whitebeard's DF. So its not that Blackbeard ate 2 devil fruits. It's that there are 3 brothers sharing space within the same body, with 2 of them always in hiding thanks to the first DF, the Yami Yami no mi. This is plausible as it fits his theme of being tied to Rocks and the number 3. A question I still have is how does this fit with what Marco said about Teach's body being different? Marco would have noticed/learned that as Blackbeard's doctor and crew mate before BB betrayed them. Something was already different about Blackbeard from day 1. This theory would work better for me if it would connect that dot.

I think it's entirely possible that the two brothers were always with him inside his body and they were all biding their time waiting for the yami yami no mi; as that fruit would allow him to switch out with his brothers and thus gain access to other devil fruits. Marco being the doctor would have recognised something strange with his body prior to eating the Yami Yami no mi, but likely didn't know exactly what was up; maybe he saw other body organs or another heart, etc. but wasn't able to connect the dots. Just an idea I guess

Could be somebody cursed the 3 brothers and forced them together?? Hence why he was on a mission looking for it because the effects of it had been cast on him. We know of df that have effects after the death of the user (life surgery by opi opi no mi)

Marco is probably referring to his sleep patterns. He left his 2 brothers to find the dark dark fruit then he comes back to execute phase 2.

Maybe the brothers got combined by the power of a fruit we don't know yet, not that crazy since we have seen similar powers like the jacket fruit

I also have theory, about Blackbeard's power. Doctor Vegapunk who is a genius that could create artificial devil fruits, was tinkering with souls. Blackbeard happened to be a test subject as a child, which led him to have the souls of three, and displays the personalities of each one at different times. Maybe each soul is able to handle a single devil at a time, which is why Blackbeard is able to handle 3.
