Dog Handler would've been the best job in the military in my opinion. Unfortunately I was never able to get a slot for it. That's the only job I would actually be willing to stay in the Army for. EOD, Door Gunner, Investigator, and Pilot would also be on my list of awesome jobs.

I was an 05C which is (was) a radio teletype operator. Attached to the mighty 11th ACR in Fulda West Germany, we ran our radio station 24/7. It was cool because when we had 4 of us I'd work 3 day shifts from 0700 to 1700, get 3 days off, then work 3 night shifts from 1700 to 0700, then get another 3 days off! Usually on the 14 hour night shifts I simply slept. Fantastic duty because I had so much free time to travel and party!

Working overnight at target after get out the army. I plan to return once my cooldown is done (next year october 31). I going to re enlisted and going to combat army. I like my job as a inbound but I can't survive with if I make 25k per years in NYC. Also being a civilian is bored.

In 1967 I enlisted in the army for MOS 94B cook, at the end of basic i was sent to MOS 95B, at that time Military Police. I never did get that straightened out. I was in over 8 years before getting my back broken during a FTX.

Looking into doing WOFT and going from civilian to Warrant Officer pilot is a great option. It's not easy and takes a while (I've been working on it for about a year) but if you can get the required scores it's worth it. It comes with a 10 year service commitment after flight school though so that's something to think about. Definitely my recommendation to those who want to try it.

That 10 year contract is what is keeping me from considering it; especially when navy and airforce offer incentives to their pilots while the army refuses to. But if you don't have a degree and are desperate to fly that is always an option.

Was originally going for 25H (for financial stability/good paying civilian job), but now am thinking 37F (for badass skills training and adventure) - both Reserves. Your MOS will be whatever you sign up for with your Contract at MEPS. Make sure your paperwork you sign has the MOS you are signing up for and you are guaranteed. Assuming you pass your school in AIT of course. You do have the option to sign up for the needs of the Army, and the counselor setting up your contract may try to pressure you into that, but if you stick to what you want before signing you should be good to go.

Can't join as a 25D. That is something that requires you to be an E6 or above so you would have to already be in the Army, rank up and then apply to change over to a 25D when you have met the requirments. An alternative to 25D for you might be 17C.

@@keziamireles3513 If you're not locked in already, and things haven't changed too much over the years, I would recommend 25B over 25U. You're likely going to learn much of the 25U stuff as a 25B since they share many of the same classes (or did in 2006). Though if you're set on going Signal and your scores are high enough, nothing really beats 25N or 25S. 25B is on the data side of things setting up computer networks, routers, subnetting, all that Information Systems type stuff. 25U is on the transmission, usually setting up omni directional antennas either in a camp or vehicle. 25S is transmission as well, but using satellites rather than line of sight radio. 25N operate the node centers where transmission connect to actual users.

I think 35M is the only MOS that really benifits from you knowing another language. There is a translator MOS but they usually want someone that is native to that country.

Hey hey I took my ASVAB last Thursday because I told my recruiter that I wanted EOD (89D), when I got back to the office it wasn’t popping up as available on the job list so it forced me to look into the 12B MOS. I think I’d be happy either way but I go back in today to see if 89D is popping up now that I have my transcripts submitted!

Hey im a 12b in active duty right now. I know a few people switching to EOD. To become EOD you need to be a SGT E-5 (so my retention says). But becoming a combat engineer can get you there if you apply yourself. Not to make you feel bad but combat engineer is hard and alot of time outside. You do work with explosives though! :)

I know for a fact Army EOD is an entry level MOS and they're almost always under strength so I'm very surprised that it isn't available. As far as being an engineer first, it'll probably give you a slight edge in demo training but otherwise it really doesn't make that much of a difference from what I've seen.

@@TyGuy31894 oh for sure! I was bummed at first but there are benefits pertaining to my situation, mainly shorter training period. I’m actually already married (been together for two years not a typical E-1 Wedding situation haha) with a small child at home so it’ll for sure be nice to not be in AIT for as long and just get my OSUT out of the way. I’ve spoken with some 89D and 12B (my recruiters were awesome and let me speak with soldiers of each MOS) Basically I can still do route clearance and that was something I was very interested in

@@wixom01 Fun fact from my past: many moons ago when I lived in another country, my cousin's husband who was a Captain in their military very strongly prospected me to join the military. They are aligned with the UK Military btw. To say he was strongly asking me to join was an understatement, and he was interviewing Everyone who knew me without me knowing of it. Then he told me that he has plans for me to attend Sandhurst military college in England as he wanted me to go directly into Officer training school after boot camp! I repeatedly turned him down :-( and that was perhaps the biggest mistake of my entire life! In retrospect, I knew I could have made it up to be Major, and some years after he made it to full Colonel. Back then the country was being torn apart by politics and political violence and even the police were being political & factional, and it was the military holding thing together. Then one day when my friend Captain Ruchard, directly confronted me as to why I won't consider joining the military, I replied to him saying: "Richard, I know that as a young Lieutenant, I would be sent into those violent ghettos to fight and get those political criminals, and I know that in those patrols there will be a cop (usually a fat sergeant) as the Law enforcement officer representing the police. I would typically will have 4-10 soldiers under my command for that operation. What I am afraid of, is that after a hard operation and shootout with these criminals and they are captured, when we go back to the police station to process these criminals, some high-ranking corrupt cop will then tell me to release them, because they have orders from higher up! Richard, I swear to God that if I ever have to face that I would not hesitate to shoot that corrupt cop after putting myself and the lives of my men in danger!" Captain Richard looked and me and chuckled "and that is EXACTLY why I am choosing you to join my army because we need men like you to stand up for integrity and for the stability of the country!"

As said in the comments the Army has an MOS for cyber security which is a 17C. It can be a hard one to get though and does have a long AIT that's about 1 year long I believe.

@@To_Fear_God He’s saying the opposite: 31B first, then 31K. I would recommend just going straight 31K. If a recruiter tells you it’s not available, leave and ask them to call you back when it is. Go to every recruiter within a commutable distance and tell them you want 31K. If one of them offers it, take the deal.
