I really appreciate you sharing your experience and knowledge. Came across your channel while researching some walking stick kale. I started my garden in the beginning of 2020 and wanted to grow things you don't really hear about like perpetual spinach, Ethiopian kale, Egyptian onions, black radish (Spicy!), honestly I could go on haha. Learned a lot from you in a short vid! You have a new subscriber.

We have these, they’re the best. You’ll eat tons of greens and never run out. Break off any leggy parts and stick the stem in the ground to root. Deadheading regularly will help them fill out.

I have leggy purple tree collard tree plants. I cut the leafy section of the plant a minimum of 6 nodes that are to be put into the media that I am using. I cut the extra leaves off leaving 1-3 small leaves on top of the cutting. This was done for a couple of reasons. 1. The first was to promote new growth/leaves on the leggy stalks. 2. To propagate new plants (in hopes that they will mature by Thanksgiving and Christmas). I cut the plant at close to a 45 degree angle just above a node. From what I understand this will make the plant not only produce new growth but possibly 2 shoots. The media that I used to get these cuttings to start growing in was 3pt standard potting soil 1pt native soil and 1/3 - ½ sand. With all this being said, my question is did I do something wrong? What would you do different? Is there a way to promote leaf growth or new shoots on those leggy plants?

Owner planted a bunch of different trees here in the high Mohave desert and put 10+ inchs of large gravel around them all and the house and yard, before we moved in, and he's upset and doesn't understand why most are dead or dying after just a few years. He's lucky the pit fruit trees lasted that long.
