I just recently picked up a Pioneer from Walmart to replace my cheap Dual. For less than $100, I can't complain. I love how many options I have for the EQ. Allowed me to take the bass out of my door speakers so they wouldn't distort when I turned them up loud. Have my two 12s for the bass, which fill it back in nicely.

I'm really partial to Kenwood and Kenwood rebadge JVC units, but this Pioneer is a real nice looking head unit. Probably one of the best looking single dins out there, doesn't have that tacky cheap early 2000s look, but at the same time it's not just a boring plastic faceplate, it looks real premium.

seems as if ever sense jvc bought kenwood , the products are not as nice as they used to be as far as sound quality goes, ive been through a few headunits and have finally given up on kenwood excelon . for the true audiophile kenwood excelon headunits are not a option anymore

Iv always loved Pioneer since my first HU "The dolphin radio!" Anyone remember those? I guess that was 2000-2002 somewhere around there. Now I have the BHS-4800 and I love it!! It has the network mode built in to, HU's have come along ways in the past 10-15 years with all the options built in their basically becoming computers!

Good job! My advice is to make an auxiliary external switch power on/off, because pioneer units "catch" some mAh even in stand by. If you follow upper advice, you should check the unit shutdown after hearing four acoustic beeps

sunny booger Once reboot unit you don't loose previous Dsp and fm radio station settings. You'll just loose sd/usb playing index (only in browse mode on)

EXO it would be great to get a vid of how the entire active setup works and the different components that go into it. Everything from teh h/u to the DSP to the amp to the speakers. I generally overlook the intricacies of the front stage because BASS but I certainly don't want a front stage that doesn't keep up with both the volume and the quality of the substage.

That deck is a nice 1! My buddy has 1! But older model i believe. I have a sonu explode deck! And a sosche car amp that does 220watts rms bridged and at 2ohms. I used to have a pheonix gold car amp that was 2 channel 500watts rms and a blaupunkt 4 3 or 2 channel car amp that was 300watts rms total power and it lit up blue! Now my best car amp is a rockford fosgate 2 channel 2 ohm stable 300watts rms bridged at 2 ohms! So not bad! Awesome video exo! 😎👍👍

I"m running a newer bluetooth pioneer that has no c.d player at all. and instead of rca leads and amplifiers to all the speakers I just have the one set for the subs. Yeah, I know, right. The unit comes with 2 screws to "permanently" attach it to the deck if you never plan on taking the face plate off. I have never had my faceplate just fall open . At least not from the potholes in the road. The one thing that bothered me about this deck was the wire harness. One of the tabs that locks the harness into the deck broke on me after removing it for a second time. It is hard as hell to remove cause of no clearance for your fingers. Using needle nose pliers slip on me. Still locks in there though

Hello, I just got one of these. Haven't installed it yet. Was wondering if I would be able to run my component speakers using crossovers on my 4-channel amp using NW mode. Saw a video from pioneer & read comments saying you can't do that. I don't want to buy another amp just to run my components separately.

You should try sound retriever, it tries to make lossy audio not sound like crap. With how great your hardware is you probably wouldn't even need to eq with sound retriever on 2

The newer 1s that came out right before they were discontinued had some little metal braces for vaious things install wise and 1 was for the faceplate.

i know you talked about rca pre out voltage being low why wouldn't you run a line driver i ran the audio control LC6 and even with the deck being 5Volts i found it helped a lot I could max out the 5 volt before distortion or clipping on the deck

Have you ever had any problems with the DEH models where the volume doesn't work at all. Powers on at a low sound I can turn and turn the single knob and nothing. Im not running a amplifier so no blue wire in use. Thank you

it is a sick ass headunit. . but i always was like what is up with the volume knob is finicky thats the olny down side you have to turn it way up for it to be really loud like other head units and only has to be on volume 10 or 12 for it to be loud i glued the fase plate to when I first got it.

@EXOcontralto Hey Exo!, dont forget that there is a special settings menu for the HeadUnit where you can enable High-Quality CD Playback. When the unit is off hold the center volume knob, Itll go into another menu and you must change the CD Audio setting (i dont remember the exact name) One is 16bit and one is 24bit DAC. Obviously switch it to work in the 24bit DAC Mode.

moving the switch over will enable active crossover mode. In other words it enables the RCA plugs in back of the headunit to act as a Midbass Driver Output, Tweeter Output, and Subwoofer Output. Instead of the standard front, rear and sub. Then when you are in the settings you can adjust the tweeters and midbass and subwoofer very finely including reversing the polarity of each individual speaker on the fly on the headunit. Time Alignement and a whole skew of other options. On top of it all, it comes with a microphone that you attach to your seat and it will auto tune your whole system for you, Time alignement and EQ.
