Thank you , and I give you 10 out of 10 for picking a ''hard as bloody hell'' subject/background. Generally I stay away from online free or pay "offers" but you have "sucked" me right in for those brushes that may help me with nature photos with grass/leaves/little sticks and twigs , not to mention a blue sky background

It took me a while to find an image that would normally be quite impossible to work with, as a demo! But I'm happy it convinced you of the power of these tools. If you want to go next level, I have created The Ultimate Brush Bundle. It includes 175+ brushes in 11 different packs (Clouds, Nature, Light, Electric, Fire, Night, Water, Firework, Particle, Smoke and Special brushes). It includes a full tutorial library to help you get the most out of each pack! If you're member of the Affinity Photo Creatives, check out this post for more info and reviews of other members: www.skool.com/affinityphotocreatives/talking-about-a-win-win?p=1168db1e 😊

Rather amazing. Brilliant thinking. Never heard of this method before. Now I know where to go whenever I have a fury animal. Thanks.

I am glad you enjoyed the training! This ACTUALLY works with any furry animal or texture 🙌🏼

Great job , I remember this one from around 12 years ago.

Very interesting My solution was to remove quite a bit of the background I did not want and then use flood selection which I have had quite a lot of success with. Much better than I could get with Photoshop or Lightroom. I do it when I am cutting out birds with a lot of fine detail.

Hi Rensi, do your brushes also work for people or just for animal?
@deviceinboxru5 ай бұрын
Try to turn 'On' your head. Brushes are only brushes, they work with everything you applied them to. Is your question answered?
@IAMRENSI5 ай бұрын
These brushes are designed to work with any furry texture. Could be any animal, a teddy bear, a fluffy coat, etc. Hope this answers your question!

My unrelated question being: How did you get the brush panel underneath your layers panel? I'm new to Affinity and mine is still showing a second lion image at the bottom right of the screen. lol
@IAMRENSI4 ай бұрын
You can just drag your panels around. The second lion image is the navigator. Drag your brushes panel over there! 😊
@theproteaneffect31274 ай бұрын
@@IAMRENSI I guess something is wrong with my program because every time I try to drag and drop it, it automatically snaps back to its original position. I thought it was something I was doing wrong, but I might have to delete and reinstall the program.

In reality you are not "refining" the edges, but rather you are "creating" new edges with the brushes. The AI does the same when it "invents" the edges by adding new hair. Anyway, it's a very interesting way to do it. If the background was a very intense color (for example red) then it would be more difficult. Thanks
@IAMRENSI5 ай бұрын
Yea, it's basically recreating the edges, but you can be as accurate as you want. In this video I did it rather quickly to demonstrate. Although I can promise you this works in any case, also with an intense colored background. There's just an extra step, but I'll teach that inside of the course!

While the brushes you created are indeed very resourceful, I feel that a disclaimer is necessary here: they are not a selection tool. What you are doing is re-creating the fur outline of your subject to make it similar to generic types of fur. I don't want to take away the value of your creation, and in many instances the illusion created by the tool will work just as well as an actual accurate fur selection. But this illusion also has its drawbacks - it works best in what you are calling "busy" backgrounds that do not offer much color or lighting contrast to the fur of your subject. I may be wrong, but I believe in high contrast backgrounds this illusion would not work so well and you would be best served with other techniques involving actual selection such as gradient map and/or lighting masks.
@IAMRENSI5 ай бұрын
It’s rather masking than selecting, you’re right! However, this method of realistically recreating fur would work in any case - also high contrasting backgrounds. It’s a slightly different technique to what I show in this tutorial, but I will teach this method in a future lesson of the Pixel Perfect Fur Masks course. Of course, IF you can keep the original fur using other selecting techniques, that’s always the way to go! But in the example in the video (and probably 90% of cases) this simply isn’t possible :)

@@IAMRENSI Thank you for the response. I sincerely think you created a valuable product, which deserves to get the proper appreciation. Pardon my stance because it can sometimes sound more negative than I intend. But this is a result of watching countless KZbin tutorials from people claiming they have the Best/definitive/miraculous fur/hair selection tool, which I later find out only work for specific types of images that are carefully pre-selected by the KZbinr. In my view this has become a niche click bait for desperate people looking to remove backgrounds for hair/fur situations. Indeed fur and hair are extremely tricky subjects to select, and in my skeptical point of view they need different tools depending on the image configuration - so far I have not found one single tool that covers 90% of the situations. If one day you publish a video covering the other technique involving fur tools in high contrast images, I will check it out and if it really works I will buy your brush set with pleasure. Keep up the good work

@@jogorodaviva What about AI background removal?
@pdeswardt5 ай бұрын
What? 27$ for a few brushes with a specific use case ? No thanks. That's a ripoff. That's like a 1/3 of the price of the whole affinity suite combined.
@IAMRENSI5 ай бұрын
You're very right. However, you can struggle for the rest of your life with masking out fur. Or, just pay €27 to solve that problem, FOREVER. Technically you pay for the brushes (and future course content that comes with it), but you will save lots of time and frustration in the future. That alone should validate the price, if you value your time in any way ;)
@markb7550Ай бұрын
No doubt, this is a very useful technique but maybe it would be better to call it "fur simulation" rather than "fur selection".
