1. Have a consistent routine. Spend your time on what you enjoy and it'll be easier to be consistent with it. 2. Have a goal. My goal is to be able to draw faces realistically so that I can share it to the world. Also to work on my hand eye coordination. 3. Have momentum. Keep that streak going. Progression isn't a good indicator. Base your success on your consistency. Don't be too hard on yourself when you lose your streak. 4. Document your progress. We have so many tools, i.e youtbe and instagram to track our progress. Focus on how much you're doing each day, rather than the amount if progress you're making. 5. Find what works for you. What influences your world? What do you find interesting? Your life determines your art. Thanks Dan.

Wow..i want to ask if you become bored with drawing what to do ??
@RyanKingArt
@RyanKingArt 4 жыл бұрын
@@ft1851 I think you should work on projects that your really passionate about and that really excite you. Create what you want to create! Sometimes I still get a little bored, but I have made drawing a strong habit so its easy to draw every day. But when I first started drawing, I did not draw every day, so its a skill that you have to build up. Also you could change things up a little. Try drawing different subjects or drawing in a different style.

I watched your Will Smith Hyper realism tutorial almost a year ago and have been doing hyper realism ever since. Because of you I won an art competition and my drawing was put on display in an art gallery. I did hyper realism throughout my last year at school and my portfolio got me into art university. So thank you Dan

"If I had to choose to do only one thing, I would choose drawing, because that's what I like the most". Well, being consistant is kinda easy when you love it, right ? I think that's the problem of a lot of people (myself included) : we don't have the passion (or obsession) with it. Of course we enjoy it, but not as much as that. So yeah, it's a lot tougher to stay consistent, like you with the gym : you know you have to do it, it's important for you, but the pleasure is not important enough to create motivation, which is honestly kinda sad :(

Aside discipline and motivation there is another way to stay consistent. I will give for example my phone: i have put instagram and facebook on my home screen and every time I open my phone they are there and I open them,however ,if i remove them they are not there and the convenience is gone. What i mean by all that is you just have to make it convenient and easy for you like putting a notebook and a pen on your desk or where you spend time mostly. i also obtained the habit of drinking more water that way - just always have a bottle of water next to my pc.

@Lucas-tg6jz

@@terzokun8596 Oh yes you're totally right about that, I've done the same with water too. And the convenience part of drawing is important : I have a part of my desk always ready for me to draw something.

@@smallwhisperers2930 Well after one year I can tell that disciple has worked well for me. It created a habit naturally, and now I draw everyday, even if it's only 20 min when I'm tired after work. And for the people that are in my situation described 1 year ago, don't lose hope ! Because motivation actually comes after you've done the work, not before ! And trust me, if you draw everyday, you'll get better, and if you get better, you're gonna truly enjoy it. And that's when the passion will develop :)

Awesome stuff man, I've began doing some of these 4 days ago. I am writing 3-5 bullet points every day in my phone notes (art related), about what I would like to complete each day. It's becoming routine for me to make this list as soon as I wake up, and it really keeps me creating, studying and practicing each day. My daily goals are usually very simple, like "practice drawing face proportions for minimum 1 hour" or "make a post about your drawing on Instagram". What's funny is that I'm free to do whatever I want as long as I complete those goals, yet I still find myself drawing anyway. I'm drawing more than ever. I'm regaining my old discipline. Thanks for the video man, always good to hear from you 😁👍

The first two minutes are incredibly painful to listen to for the very neurodivergent or mentally ill like myself who do not have a routine of any kind, have tried for years and years and years to get one together, all while watching so many of you do it so easily and take it for granted, getting further and further and further ahead of us. Yeah, I'm bitter. If you had my life, you would be too.
@ZakManga
@ZakManga 2 ай бұрын
On the flipside, people who are not as badly or not at all hit by neurodivergence shouldn't have to bear blame for our issues. We can't always expect people to go out of their way for us, and not give anything back. Like tolerating a minute or so of difficulty for something that may have taken someone more than double the time to plan
