Күн бұрын

Hello again. After a busy February here is a new "Quick Build & Paint" following the construction and painting of Tamiya's excellent Char B1Bis (German Version Reference #35287) repurposed by the Free French in the Royan Pocket fighting in WW2.
Follow the complete painting and weathering process from A to B in this 30-minute film. The main part of the video deals with getting the most from the excellent but somewhat fiddly Lifecolor acrylic paint ranges. Airbrushing them can be helped with the aid of a secret weapon.
Watch all of the paint stages. We also used Lifecolor Tensocroms, oils and enamels and we used Tamiya Clear paints as well as some Vallejo acrylic products.

I really enjoyed watching this video. Especially the mud & dust effects with the Tensocrom medium. I will definitely try this technique on my next model.

Great video. I never thought of using the tamiya clears that way. Kind of like filters. I really want to love lifecolor paints. I've got about 20 different bottles of them. I think I've got them figured out and then they fight me. I use mostly Vallejo and tamiya.

Superb video!!! For me also very interesting use of the Tamiya clears. They are used like filters. Didn't know tamiya clears existed. Went straight to my hobby shop to collect them. The streaking with the smoke, love it. Nice and easy. Before I used my oils for the filters and the streakings. Next build will be challenging... Just a question to Scale War Machines? Did you dilute the the tamiya clears or the X-19 smoke? Tamiya X-20A or Tamiya Laqcuer thinner or both?
@scalewarmachines
@scalewarmachines 4 жыл бұрын
Yes dilute, the colours were with Lacquer Thinner and the smoke probably just X20A. either work fine. Lacquer is shinier and more durable.

My Dad served in 3rd Armored Calvary regiment WW2. He said that once the paint/ tank was exposed to the weather the paint , the color was closest to Testers olive drab .

Loved the video, just one thought. at the end, you show off the tank on the turntable, its hard to see the detail as its rotating so fast. Maybe also include photograph slide show as well? But overall really excellent video!

That's beyond my airbrushing skills, highlighting things freehand with airbrush, no masking involved at all. Would pre shading work well with lifecolor paints? given how many layers you did? Also what p.s.i were you using?

fantastic video! lots of work but well worth the effort, can you do a video on apply battlefield damage to a model? holes from small arms fire or broken and missing fenders and the like.

Good question and one which will be answered relatively soon. In truth, it's hard to truly know but it is certainly a day or two. We will release a video soon that shows the fastest paint and weathering job we could do, as well as a forensic breakdown of the hours spent doing it. Stay tuned for that.

Can i use Lifecolor thinner for acrylic water based paints as Vallejo, Ammo and... some use tap water for dilluing acrylic paint to use with brush, is that ok?
@scalewarmachines
@scalewarmachines 8 ай бұрын
You would need to test that as not all thinners are cross compatible, if in doubt use good old water.

can i use the lifecolor dilluant for other acrylic paits such as vallejo?
@scalewarmachines

hi, best to check as not all thinners are inter compatible, not sure Lifecolor works with Vallejo paints.

Sorry Steve, very late responding to questions, I usually go for 1.5 bar, but to be fair I have one regulator on the compressor, sometimes one inline and often one valve or MAC valve on the gun (no dial), so it's hard to tell exactly but 1.5 it always a safe bet. Watch it with Lifecolors though, it is all very delicate and dilution and air pressure takes more dialling in - as they can be a bit fiddly to get right - experimentation is key.

It's great for brushing but seems like a real chore to airbrush. There's better paints for airbrushing that are way easier to apply... IMO.

Which is the correct ratio of lifecolor to use with airbrush?
@scalewarmachines
@scalewarmachines 4 жыл бұрын
About 60/40 paint/thinners.
@TAnastasiadis
@TAnastasiadis 4 жыл бұрын
@@scalewarmachinesuntil now, I use the ratio approx. 5 drops of colour and 15 drops of thinner. Some times and 3-4 drops of retarder.....it is wrong?
