Cigar aficionados argue that smoking cigars isn't just about enjoying the flavor, aroma and the ritual but it's also a great way to create lasting relationships.

I started smoking at 17, had my first cigar at 19 and never looked back. I would take 1 well made cigar over 100 cigarettes every time.

I agree. I am 17 and have been smoking cigarettes for 6 years and have wanted to quit for awhile. The cigarettes caught up to me I started to feel like crap and I wanted my lungs back. I quit smoking 3 or four weeks ago and started smoking black and milds as an alternative. I've tried a few different types of cigars and I will never smoke cigarettes again. I think there's some truth to what he says in the video as well, about the social status or class and I really enjoy it a lot more. There's so many more options and you can actually enjoy when you smoke. Not to mention the reduced health risks and the ability to breathe easy and just relax. Some of the other brands I tried are Thomson and man o' war. Some of them were quite dried out and old but I rehydrated some and still got a good smoke out of them.

As a 49 year old recent smoker of premium cigars (Perdomo is one of my favorite brands), the cigar community that I’m around in San Diego has been nothing but welcoming, informative and hospitable. From people coming up and offering their picks, or a quick “that one you’re smoking is a great choice”, the overall vibe has been pleasantly surprising. The piece of mind that I get from smoking a cigar on my back patio after a 45 hour work week is one that I truly look forward to.

Started smoking the local run of the mill gas station cigars at 19, never really set foot in a smoke shop then. But once I finally did and discovered the side of cigar smoking that gas station stuff couldn’t even begin to compete with, I never looked back I’m not by no means classy or wealthy lol, but this lifestyle welcomes everyone from all walks of life. You just have to enjoy cigars, you can go low end, or high end, it doesn’t matter. The experience is what matters, and the conversations you develop with other cigar smokers is where it’s at were all family cause we all share the same hobby smoking cigars.
@edwardo192312 жыл бұрын
I agree to this so much. The cigar lifestyle welcomes you so much regardless of what background you're from. I remember 3 years ago when I newly graduated from university and just landed a job with good money. Met an owner of a cigar shop when I strolled around the city, and he was so friendly and show me a lot about cigars. He's 30 years older than me, and welcomed me into his circle of cigar smoking friends, even though I didn't know anything about cigar at the time. I thought I was going to feel embarassed by being the only noob at that group at the time. But the hospitality, the humility, the friendship they offered, made me stay. Never stop loving cigars since.

I'm growing my own now, and my first harvest is curing atm. Call it beginner's luck but they're curing perfectly, and I had my first fermentation chambers made today. I've grown before but not for cigar, and I'm going to try out this new German strain called Adonis for both wrappers and binders, because they are supposedly very tasty and low in nicotine. Even though the majority of my hobby growing is supposed to become Swedish snus (which you can do yourself, so try it as replacement for cigarettes if you have the means to make your own Swedish snus), I'm looking forward to provide the cigars needed for this year's New Year's Eve party. I'm going to say "From seed to this, ladies and gentlemen. Enjoy!" and hand out five.

My first cigar was a Tampa Nugget, in probably 1975 or thereabouts. I immediately saw the potential. I smoked them, sometimes chewed them, sometimes a little bit of both. THen, I got into pipes, mostly natural calabashes and meers, and then discovered the Honduran Hoyos and it was back to cigars for me. Then I graduated to Habanos, and I always brought a few boxes back, whenever I got off a ship. Now I am retired, and the Hondurans no longer have that rich creamy texture anymore, and it is hard for me to get real Habanos in the US. I have a roll yer own kit and I been meaning to jump into that, and maybe grow a couple dozen plants every year, and I know mine won't be as good, but they will be mine and they won't be a compromise bought from a tobacconist who thinks he has been over the mountain and seen the critter more than I have. At one point in my early 30s I smoked about 5 sticks a day. Now I smoke maybe 5 a year. But I am getting old enough that I really don't give two sharts if I get cancer or not. I smoke a hookah once or twice a week, anyway.

Had my first cigar at 17 - I found two cigars in a drawer in the kitchen and decided “Why not.” Neither of my parents ever smoked, so I knew the cigars were from the previous owner of our house. For my first smoke, I lit up in a shower in a bathroom, not realizing the smell would stick and spread around the house. (I was a dumb kid, lol.) I also didn’t know that you’re not supposed to inhale deeply, so I made myself sick. My parents found out and gave me a lecture. For my second smoke, a few weeks later, I lit up in a room with a window when my parents weren’t home. This time I knew not to inhale. I chased the cigar with a glass of orange juice and watched my favorite anime, FLCL, under the nicotine buzz. Unlike my first time, it was very pleasant. A great memory.

I'm the same way but with cigarettes. I know they get a bad rap (deservingly) and are looked down upon, but honestly, I love them so much. But more so the same way with people and cigars. I've tried every brand I can get in my town, every flavour, filtered, non filtered, I love the taste, the smell, and the smell of the fresh tobacco, going to re-attempt growing my own this year. There's nothing I love more than treating myself to my favourite pack of smokes, going out on a warm summers night by myself, sitting on a bench uptown at 2:30 in the morning, lighting up a smoke, and just stare at the stars. It's such a relaxing thing for me. For a few short minutes, I feel like all is right in the world. I just feel at peace when I'm smoking. I just wish they weren't so fucking bad for my health. I would get into cigars more, but the winters here are too long and cold to spend 15-30 minutes smoking in -10/-20 Degree weather. I do smoke them a lot in the summer though. I think Tobacco aficionados are with all forms of it, Cigars, Cigarettes, Pipes, Snuff, Chew. Any other cigarette lovers like me out there, or at least know what I'm saying?? Whether you smokes cigs, cigars, pipes, etc, my fellow tobacco brothers and sisters, let's unite, light one up, and relax together!! haha.

Cigarettes are often portraid as don't do it or you will die, but you really have to way the risks of how often you do it and how bad the risk is. Personally I don't like um enough for the risks but you might and like you said its not like every one who smokes is going to get cancer or die.

First time I smoke a churchill it took me two and a half hours of smoking. Really enjoyed it apart from some burn problems on the second third.
@mic9828 жыл бұрын
Cigars very in their burn rate, and of course, some smoke cigars like their stoking a Smith's forge, but if one can consume a Chruchill in under a half hour, it must have been burning as hot as a propane torch. LOL In general, the slower you smoke cigars the better you will enjoy them - they always taste best when the burn is just at the minimum point of ignition - like the first one you mention above.

i think he was saying 90 minutes. he just said 1 and a half hours so fast. why would he compare 30 min to a person only having 20 min? it just doesnt make sense to qorry about 10 min. he was comparing 90 minutes to 20 min.

@TheDesius7 жыл бұрын
difference is that you die without regret. if you die from cigarettes you regret it because you are addicted and can't help it. most people who smoke cigars are not addicted and just like the taste so you wont regret it.

I personally don't even think about how, what kind, how long will it take to smoke it or where, I have a cigar suffer I put it out nicely where I can't smoke and continue it where I can, I don't smoke cigarettes or a pipe I'm a puritan cigar smoker 3-4 sticks a day and I enjoy them in my car and at home, I just smoke cigars and I don't think of the ritual of cigar smoking, I'm just a plain olé cigar smoker I guess

I started smoking cigars somewhat recently, so I can give you some tips. Start off with a blend or cigar that is light. A common type of cigar for beginners is a Connecticut. Try to go to a tobacconist (person/store that specializes in cigars/pipes) and see what they have on offer and what they would recommend. Congratulations on getting married, mate. And remember enjoy your cigar!
