Fascinating. That she was able to continue for 17 years without her FBI sister who specialized in Cuban spies is extraordinary. Her sister must have been devastated along with her colleagues in DIA. Discovering you've been living and working with someone living a double life can destroy your self esteem. sickening.

There is one conversation the DOJ and the FBI want have. One name, Robert Philip Hanssen. Hanssen was a FBI double agent who spied for the Soviet Russian intelligence service, who went undetected for 22-years, '79 to 2001. When he was finally arrested, February 18, 2001 the first words out of his mouth were, "what took you so long." The DOJ described Hanssen's espionage as "possible the worst intelligence disaster in US history." To escape the death penalty he took 15 consecutive life sentences. Of the 11 worst American spies in US history, Robert Philip Hanssen tops that list. Ana Montes rank #5 on that list, Aldrich Ames ranks at #2. Julius and Ethel Rosenberg were executed 1953 selling US nuclear technologies to the Russians. If your going to go there regardless of who you are, get it right.

Haven't heard of her? Oh yes I have! I remember back when she was arrested how it came out that she was receiving messages from Cuba via shortwave numbers stations, since I was a shortwave listener back then (and still am). I've often heard the numbers stations she used to receive messages from. In fact, I have a shortwave radio just like the one pictured in this clip, a Sony 2010 portable.

It's doubly amazing that she got away with it because of her lack of caution. Keeping a laptop with incriminating information in it in your home? Passing information on disks? It all seems like asking for trouble. Was the SW radio also a transmitter? Or only a receiver with which to receive coded instructions (eg. from numbers stations)?

surprised the Cubans' didn't have the condo next door as her base; and her own place becomes a clean front. Shows the lax oversight. One of the most surprising things about MI 5 in the fifties is that they had NO security at the entrance of their own building in London. People just waltzed in and out with briefcases loaded with security papers.

@@bangballs This woman did what she did for money, not for some noble reason. And can you copy and paste where I said that people in totalitarian countries are less worthy than others? It isn't their choice to be born in a bad political environment. I only said that their lives are not allowed to bloom at full extent and they don't have the freedom that people in democratic countries have. And I was and am sorry for them. I wish they could have the power to decide how they want their lives to be. At least, democratic societies could get rid of the unworthy leaders every 4 years. Russians have Putin for decades. There are generations of Russians who never saw another face but his. Kim in N Korea is for life. If you live in a totalitarian regime, I'm as sorry for you being forced to live at the order of someone else, as I'm sorry for all the other people there. But if you are from a free country, how can you support despots with right of life and death over their people? I don't care if you disagree with me. Never tried to impose my ideas and thoughts on another being. I didn't call you names or anything. Just saying that I feel sorry for slaves and wish they were free to live as they want.
