She was the first major boss I fought, and my god, I had so, so, SO MUCH FUN. She basically rekindled my passion to this game's combat cuz she finally gave me that feeling of triumph the base game lacked a bit. I got stuck in her for 2 hours but I wasn't even mad, quite the opposite, every time I died I'd be happy to fight her again because she's just so satisfying and fun. Beating her with Milady was one of the best experiences I've ever experienced in a souls game
@JoseViktor40993 ай бұрын
I also find a lot of fun on base game bosses, but yes, this boss is great on almost all sides from a gameplay perspective.A lot of cool attacks to spice things up, a lot of approach on how you can deal with this boss, an excelent learning curve...The only thing I would improve is that on her phase transition when she launches proyectiles the sword doesn´t have a hitbox,. Hope that glitch get fixes, feels very weird.
@Stanzbey693 ай бұрын
I think, moveset wise, she’s basically a perfect boss. I can’t find a single flaw. Her presentation could use some work though, add those cut voicelines in an update. A cutscene and maybe a better arena would’ve been nice too

She was definitely one of my first bosses of the DLC since I went exploring instead of going along the obvious path. I ended up on the other side of her door and went through the castle from the midway path. So low fragments and a bit rusty, I decided because she has sweeping attacks, she is probably parryable. Oh man, that was both a curse and I got gud at learning to parry. So much fun.

I agree except for the fact that you can't interrup her attacks like you can with Melania and every other boss, that's my only gripe with her. Her attack windows are very short due to the fact you can't interrupt her. I think her poise needs to be dialed down alot due to just how agile she is

It’s actually not really Ranni who fights you in Rennala’s second phase. It’s essentially an illusion of a more ideal version of Rennala, as a spell casted by Ranni to protect her mother. If the egg itself has anything to do with it, to contribute more power to the spell, considering the spell is casted on the egg, you’re basically fighting a sort of child of Radagon and Ranni, which is…. weird.

It's so funny how unique everybody's experience is. I've completed the dlc 3 times, first at ng+6 then ng+7 and again on a fresh ng level.150 character, each with different builds and i've never lost to Dancing Lion or Renalla. In fact, Renalla only lived long enough to pull her twin moons out 1 of the 3 times I fought her. For me, the first wall was Putrescent Knight. I just did not and honestly still do not fully understand his moveset and had to try like 4 builds before finally taking him out the first time. Subsequent attempts have been much easier now that I know he's weak to.holly, but the way he moves just disorients me and he was definitely a akill check the first time around.
@VanquishR3 ай бұрын
I genuinely enjoyed Rellana and she reminded me a lot of the fun of learning Malenia’s moveset. Her OST is great, her moveset is awesome looking, and god damn her weapon was fun. Dancing Lion was quite annoying for me on my first play through. His music and moveset were cool but ugh, I didn’t enjoy its loop. The biggest frustration for me that nearly killed my vibe was the awful stuttering and lag. It felt like you had to predict moves in order to properly dodge stuff. The latest patch made the game soooo much better, and after starting a second play though on NG+2, I am having a blast playing through the DLC on my quest to solo the bosses without summons. Currently getting railed by Promised Consort rn. That moveset is genuinely brutal to learn (plus the fps and latency problems still exist)
@valkeitos3 ай бұрын
I'll be honest, the dancing lion rekindled my enjoyment for the game and especially what it felt like when i first played the souls games, particularly DS3. No complicated movesets like with Gundyr but enough of a challenge for me to continuously learn with every attempt.

There's this quote from a guy playing the DLC that I found hilarious because it was so true "When you play a souls game, the game is going to roll three random bosses that you are going to have the most trouble with, and nobody else is going to struggle with them. On the other hand there will be three bosses you two shot that everybody else says are the hardest in the game" In shadow of the erdtree those bosses are Rellana and the golden hippo. It took me several hours to beat Rellana, there wasn't even any catharsis when I beat her, I was just glad it was over, then I go online and everybody says she only took them like two or three attempts. Meanwhile I'm seeing people taking over ten attempts to beat the golden hippo, and I'm just like "I don't understand where the difficulty is, this boss only took me two tries"
@MarcoPolo390463 ай бұрын
That's not the point of the video. His point is that her pattern is the hardest to master completely. But Rellana doesn't do a lot of damage to the player and doesn't have a lot of health, so I'm not surprised some people found her easy. If her damage and health were stepped up to the final boss stats, you would probably think otherwise.

In my opinion it feels like she was made to be fought with the deflecting hardtear. She is so much more fun when you can deflect her attacks and it doesn't make her too easy, she's still hard with the tear. The issue I have with her normal fight, without the deflecting hardtear, is that rolling feels a bit too slow for some of her incredibly fast swings.
@AtomicZamurai3 ай бұрын
i think more of a positioning issue than a dodging issue. Not only do you have to dodge, but you have to consider in which direction she's going and dodge in the right way because she will always follow up with another attack
@animeturnMMD2 ай бұрын
I started the DLC late so I already knew that you had to collect the damn fragments, so I arrived to Rellana after farming almost all the fragments I could, however she was still pretty tough, nontheless it is the fight in the entire DLC that I had enjoyed the most, also I noticed Rennala likes to fight at close range so if you don't run away from her she rewards you by not spamming magical range attacks (except the one of the big magic swords, you have to learn to do something about that one and to jump the moons) and once she executes a melee combo that can have 4 or 5 attacks in chain she gives you time to heal, attacks that are "light" and you can defend with a shield if nessesary, being carefully with your stamina so she doesn't stance break you, that way you can reduce a lot her damage output in melee range. It took me 20 tries to kill her the first time but I swear the mayority of those tries where me trying stuff (even weapons I don't normally use from the base game) so I was using her like a dummy doll to try strategies and weapons, because at some point I started to understand the boss so well that I felt like I could beat her whenever I wanted (I will created a characters named let me solo Rellana XD) and the moment I settled with a build of armor and weapons I liked and put my mind into it, I beat her and I felt almost sad because I knew it will be long until I see her again, curiously the build that Rellana "helped" me to create carried me through many of the DLC's bosses. And while the DLC has a lot of interesting bosses I think none of the others bosses really clicked that much with me, I felt that the catacomb bosses were too easy and the main bosses border line injust and/or annoying like Consort Radahn who is really annoying to fight, well Bayle was fine just because the thing is a fireworks spectacle, but I will be a Rellana simp until the day of my death, she is best dlc Boss by far for me. She wasn't that hard. I did die tens of times until I found the right equipment and incantations and learned the dodge timing for her attacks. I think it took me about 3-4 hours spread across 3 days to beat her. I beat Dancing Lion in about 2 hours and Messmer in about 2-3 hours. For Malenia, the blade of Miquella I spend around 12 hours spread across 6 days to beat her. She was a challenge. It was all very fun and exciting and I'm still playing the DLC and have few more big bosses to defeat. Nothing beats the rush you get when you are very close to beating a boss and finally doing it. But I got to admit, that Death Knight with 2 axes was harder than Rellana, Dancing Lion and Messmer put together.

(Context : Saw the title, saw that ScreenRant was complaining about game being difficult. Did not watch through the first 5 min either. Just had a long thought and then wrote it down here). Long comment below : I still haven't fought Radahn, I haven't even edit my fight with the rest of the bosses because I got busy with the work projects in real life work in the office, I don't think the other bosses are hard. The only boss I haven't fought is Radahn yet, partially because I was spoiled, and partially because I'm busy lately. However, the rest of the bosses, are not difficult to me. Perhaps it is because my build is different than the standard casuals who uses weapons, and hit people. I used Incantations. I like using magic. If I get thrown into a world of magic, I would want to use magic. So my first run was using Incantations and I did not struggle against the boss, more than 30 times like most people. I think the lack of Ash of War usage in the game is very high, because a lot of runs from the normal KZbinrs that I see, despite knowing they do play these types of games, they do tend to just whack the enemy and not use skills, spells, buffs, etc. Some of them do after they got tired of the boss but clearly they do it also for content. However for most people, I think they are the same. Whack only. Get a weapon, whack with the weapon. Did not use any Ash of War. If you are amongst the people that does, congratulations. However from the people complaining that the game is hard, sometimes I find that they are lacking in either 2 things. Usage of everything they have, or it is the Scadutree Blessings. I do not consider myself a Pro, because Elden Ring is my very first SoulsBorne game. You can see it in my Steam Profile. I don't have any other Soulsborne game. However, I learned of the mechanics, used said mechanics. While most people, forgot about the Scadutree Blessings and skipped the bossfights. Thus having trouble and finding them difficult, and then lashing out... Like ScreenRant. Lashing out that they grinded but got trashed. It's clear that they did not read Scadutree Blessings. If we can see their gameplay, I would bet money that they did not buff or get what is expected around 5 to 10 levels of Scadutree Blessings on the nearest boss, and 15 to 20 on the high end bosses. They did not explore, they immediately went for the boss. Since clearly, that is the content for them to cover. However that happens to most people too... So while I understand that they are "Roadblocks" kinda, I also don't agree with it entirely... Since I do believe players are at fault for not exploring or understanding Scadutree Blessings properly.

I still think melania is harder than every dlc boss minus radhan. Only bc i haven't beaten him yet.

She was definitely a visual spectacle but hard? Pretty sure she's the easiest remembrance boss in the DLC. I took forever on the Lion but Rellana was kinda a pushover since her attacks are so well telegraphed.

She's a lot easier than Malenia and much more of a fair and fun fight imo

For me i died so much more to devine beast dancing lion than rellanna. Yeah camera was absolute garbage. Rallanna was a clean fight one of my favorites is all of fromsoft games.

Anyone that thinks Rellana can even remotely come close to Malenia's challenge level needs to get tf out of the kitchen

Neither are 'check' bosses. You can skip both bosses.
