I don't have any Koi but love your video's. If and when I do, I would absolutely be inclined to do business with you. These japanese koi are absolutely marvelous and haven't come across more informative content about them then what you provide good sir. Thank you for helping to educate this community.

Thanks for this simple education. Observation is all about knowing what to look out for in order to make a scientific statement, guess or prediction. Please I deal on african catfish fries, I don't know if catfish can show thesame signs or symptoms. Mine sometimes appear thin at night and lay still on the flow they hardly move much at night before they start displaying death rate. Please do you know more of what I can look out for? Thanks alot.

Hi Ricky what a fantastic video for a totally beginner like me, can you please recommend a book or wall chart so I can learn all the different koi please

Glad you like it. Unfortunately there isn’t a book I can think of that will be of much use to you. If you haven’t already subscribed to Koi Talk magazine. It’s the most current information you’ll find in print.

I bought a few expensive Koi for my new pond and also more budget friendly ones. I'm much happier if the budget ones turn out good, obviously. But I'm finding enjoyment is learning how to properly select Koi to potentially grow them out. Some of my budget ones are doing very well and hopefully out of 10 I can keep one.
@Ricky_Stoddart_Koi2 жыл бұрын
Don’t stop buying those batches of cheaper ones. The lessons they provide are invaluable.

@@Ricky_Stoddart_Koi Can you tell me why my selections were wrong with these Sanke? I asked a very experienced Koi show winner about these 2 and he said they are doomed to fail. I thought we try to select underdeveloped Beni/Sumi in young koi, which is why I selected these light colored ones because I can see the pigments underneath the top layer skin. But the experienced keeper told these sumi/beni no good. I'm more interested in that aspect, not so much as a "perfect" sanke. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jXu0iHymncyEbpo

Thank you for another great video 🙏 I'm about to select an asagi (nisai) all got great pattern, not to dark. 2 got fine beni. The 3. got almost no beni. Will the beni come up, at that age or is it to late to develop beni?

Looking for clarification: You state premium breeder “Danichi” it’s better to buy and be patient because they take time to develop. However, you state for the price you can buy better Tosai from other breeders. So should I buy “4/5 Star auction Danichi tosai” for $500-1000 or look other breeders and take the Genetics risk at a lower price ??
@Ricky_Stoddart_Koi2 жыл бұрын
If your budget is $500-$1000 you will be lucky to buy that level from the Dainichi auction. With that budget I would be much more inclined to look at other breeders such as Hoshikin, Marudo or NND. Still superb bloodlines and your money will go a lot further. Certainly not a genetic risk going with those kind of breeders.

HI RICKY I DONT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT KOI SHOWS. COULD YOU TELL ME IS THERE PRIZE MONEY IN UK SHOWS, IF SO HOW MUCH. ALTHOUGH I HAVE A POND WITH SIX KOI IN IT. WHEN I PICKED THEM THE PRICE WAS AS CHEAP AS I COULD GET FOR A FISH AT THE SIZE I WANTED AND THE COLOUR THAT APPEALED TO MY LIKES. I HAVE KNOWLAGE ABOUT FISH AS I HAVE KEPT TROPICAL FISH IN A BIG WAY FOR OVER 50YEARS. NO WAY WOULD I BE PAYING A £1000 OR MORE FOR A FISH I LOOK FOR A FISH WITH FINS AS THEY SHOULD BE- RIGHT BODY SHAPE SWIMMING ALRIGHT NOTHING THAT IS PERMMATELY WRONG I KNOW ITS ABOUT OPINIONS THAT IS MINE. CHEERS👍 ENJOY YOUR VIDEO,S !
@Ricky_Stoddart_Koi2 жыл бұрын
If it works for you then happy days, that’s what it’s all about. To answer your question no there is no prize money at the shows.
