Great stuff :) I'm a new player with about 140 hours, gold II in solos and have been practicing shadow defense for the past 2 weeks. Makes defending so much more relaxed and less reason to panic. This explains the theory side much better! I do get stuck though when they roll it around the corner and I'm not sure if I should be facing them for a challenge or continue to shadow. It's where I concede most goals. Usually it rolls above me and they nip around me and bop it in if that makes sense.

Totally makes sense, if the ball is rolling fast through your corner the time for passive defense is over. You have to cut it off before it falls in front of your net by pinching, jumping or driving into it up the wall. Last option is to bump the player but that’s more feasible when you are already behind them chasing a fast break- totally different situation

Since I watched your vids I’ve managed to climb up to C3 in my third season of rocket league :) first time hitting 1318 (my target for this season) I was also 3 mmr away from d3 in 1s so I am getting there. Incredible! Really happy to hear that brother! It really is hard to generalise, but the 3 things I see most is: 1. Not starving the boost of the opponent. Put shots high then grab the boost, make them panic. 2. Diving into shots that are near the opponents net, even if they are clearly going to save it, forcing an over commit and easy counter. 3. Playing with the mind switched off and hoping to win. Thanks for watching and the question :)

How do you stop aerial plays and resets etc in 1s? I find I can stop ground based plays quite reliably, but as soon as I get an opponent that's good in the air I'm screwed. In 2s I can just force them to pull the trigger early, but in 1s it's just in my net cause I don't have a teammate lol
