i think it makes a lot of sense actually. i'm a crypto algo developer, and i use Binance. i say that because Bitcoin especially on Binance have a lot of volume even on a slow day so the Close of a Red day and the Open of the Next Green day are really really close to each other. i don't know much about the stock market, but i bet the S&P have a much bigger volume, so the chances of having such a difference as Low-Red vs Open-Green are very low to happen, no? sorry for my broken english, i hope i explained well enough to understand...

This is the daily session of SP so there is always a gap, but bitcoin is 24 hours so usually close is very close to open
