I was trying to understand why I loved Tunic and couldn't quite figure out, but seeing a few reviews I think its the feeling of not knowing something like when I was young I played a lot of Spyro and stuff but I couldn't speak English so I kept exploring and figuring out stuff just by looking at the buttons or seeing recurring words just like Tunic, and sometimes ask my Brother\Parents, the feeling of Exploring like a child again was so fun, not having something that is linear or such. Sucha great game.

I loved Tunic so much. It was so fun scouring the instruction manual to figure out how to progress. I felt really clever when I solved some of the puzzles. And it was exciting to actually have to get a pod of paper out and draw some of the things from the game world too.

I still have my guide of ff8. Its a treasured possession. Its falling apart and i keep it mostly safe in a folder but ive gone through that game and guide so many times its just not the same as googling answers or looking up a gamefaqs walkthrough. Good memories.

I seriously love these videos. The emotions, connections, and humanity you convey in your writing brings tears to my eyes. Thank you for producing such wonderful content. I also just started playing Tunic about a week ago and I had no idea you could fast travel. I was wondering what those little yellow platforms were for!

Yes, absolutely agree. The sense of genuine discovery that this game provides is so refreshing and yet so familiar. It is a gamer's game, a love story to a lifetime of videogames, and it's genius. I really hope they'll produce an official hard copy of the manual.

This is the type of game that I as a solo dev aspire to create. It's do simple in it's basic execution but with depth in it's world. I've played it through and though twice already, I'm now on my third run trying to get the secret ending... Without reading a walkthrough online

Can't stress how much I loved this game... Played it right after Elden Ring (which is one of my favorite games I've ever played) and then Tunic comes along and says "Hey... What If I told you that you'll somehow be as engrossed in this game as you were that massive game you just finished." This game's puzzles, and it's Meta puzzle at the end, gave me a sense of satisfaction I've not felt in a long, long LONG time from a game. Even the combat in Elden Ring didn't give me the sense of satisfaction I got from this game. It is perfection.

I remember pouring over my Baldur's Gate II manual. It had in world comments. Tunic is fantastic because of all the mystery as stated. The final puzzle was quite memorable. Hated the running hold dodge dynamic though.

Pre watch: I definitely agree whole heartedly with the title. that simple feature made me dissolve into the game much easier. Finding out its untranslatable even in NG+ killed that energy though..

That same song "Memory of Memories" hit me way hard back in 2017. I saw the trailer and realized the game would have to be a banger. Dang I was right. Also about Lifeformed. The musician is insanely good, and I even loved Dustforce over it.

I really enjoyed 90% of tunic and it was really fun. I think it was nice. Most puzzles where fun and I enjoyed that there is a good deal of them you can do at the start of the game if you had so much as the knowledge on what you needed to do at the start. Its nice that they arent necessarily progression locked, but instead knowledge locked. I also liked that if you are a player that doesnt necessarily want to engage in the puzzle aspect of the game (the fez like language which is just phonetic english written in a custom way) You can still beat the game just fine as there is enough there through the manuals and pictures that you can still do it just as easily. the remaining 10% had some issues for me. I think hiding the [spoiler] to prevent your max health from depleting behind the area where it happens felt odd when most items you receive to solve areas are either in a previous area or very early in the area you need it. This lead to me not even entering the area expecting that i missed something somewhere in the world only to frustratingly give up and look up its location to find out I had to just sprint through the entire zone and bumrush an item location less i get one shot at a max hp of 1 trying to fight enemies. I also felt like the endgame was a bit weaker. Out of the two endings, I think the one where you have to fight a boss is a massive difficulty spike over your previous boss and feels like a brick wall (and this is coming from someone who has beaten all the souls games). Compared to the scavenger boss who you can deal with very easily either in a straight on fight or quick killing him with the gun, the final boss even at max upgrades makes you feel like you are doing barely any damage to their full 2 phases of massive health bars and feels more like a endurance test. I also think the near 55-60 button input code for the big door on the puzzle ending is rather excessive and could have been handled a bit better.

I haven't played Elden ring but I feel tunic deserves goty more than eldenring. I feld so muc h joy while playing this game. to me, this gam eis perfect for what it does. it is difficult, but friendly. it is a journey full of discovery where trying stuff out is rewarded. haven't felt like that for a game in many many years.

For me the manual was cool until it turned into this decent zeldalike into a cryptography challenge by the endgame. So sort of the opposite to your experience. The manual looks neat but I don't really enjoy puzzles where you both have to spend hours looking for parts to hope you have enough to decode them. I enjoy puzzles, but not this specific type of puzzle.
