I would be prepared to bet everything I own that in the entire history of humanity on earth there has never been a voice as beautiful as that of Judith Durham. Thank god for Judith & KZbin for allowing us to hear her sing so many of her recordings.

The Seekers heard The Weavers version of this song and it was the first song they ever performed together. RIP Ronnie Gilbert The Weavers lead singer who passed at 88. Here's hoping Judith Durham has an equally long life and we are blessed with her astonishing voice for many years to come.

You're right about the atmosphere. I may be wrong, but I think they would often start a show with this. Just imagine it , or maybe you've been lucky enough to have been there. They come on stage to cheers and clapping and whistles, and wait for it to die down just a little bit. Then straight into this song without saying a word, and the magic starts to the sound of that clear, bewitching voice. I wish so much I'd seen them when I had the chance.

In my 59 years, I have listened to a lot of good music; Gospel quartets, Old Motown, Pop, Folk, Rock, Disco, Country. Some favorites are; The Four Tops, The Fifth Dimension, Marty Robbins, The Bee Gees and many others. Most were heavily produced. To me, none are better than The Seekers and this simple, but extreme quality performance.

A sweet voice with range, clarity, purity, marvelous articulation, and power. No one in her generation could belt it out like she could when she wanted to. Every note is dead on. And to think that she was also the best musician in the group with her talent on the piano. The Seekers are much beloved of their fans and for good reason.

I've never been a fan of Gospel and usually avoid it. That being understood, there are two groups I will gladly listen to for hours singing Gospel, The Seekers and the Carter Family. For much the same reason: superb instrumentals, superb harmonies and unique style and sound. Judith's voice is as beautiful as I've ever heard; she never misses a note and she is superbly backed in harmonies and instrumentals by Athol, Keith and Bruce. Sara Carter's voice is not as beautiful as Judith's, but she never misses a note, and that world weary voice rings with such authenticity that it grabs you by the ears and won't let go! Sara is likewise superbly backed in harmonies by A.P. and Maybelle. The sheer beauty of Maybelle's guitar and Sara's auto harp can take your breath away at times! If there were ever two groups whose music, style and talent were absolutely timeless it is the Seekers and the Carter Family.

Our souls are the sails good music fills and transports us through time. The songs performed by this group do that for me time and time again. The only group from the 60's currently touring with their original members from when their first #1 hit was reached in early 65. They formed in 1962. This is a record that probably will never be broken. Their last performances on their current and probably final tour will be in New Zealand in November. I hope they will continue to record in the studio when their creative energies dictate, but I wish to thank them all personally for the special gift their music has been in my life.

I have been listening to this song since it was first released. Always I wait for Judith to go for that big note near the end. A generation later came a group called the Rankin Family out of Cape Breton, NS, Canada. There were 3 amazing female voices but especially there was Raylene Rankin. On a song "Rise Again" Raylene goes for a nails a note that reminds me of Judith all those years before. If you like Judith, you will find some room for the Rankin girls (well ... ladies now)
