That was the album that turned me on to them, this song particularly. It must have been 1977, maybe ‘76…

Red Fox Bethesda 1974 - College Park guitar professor turned our class on to Bluegrass with Seldom Scene. I can't tell you how thankful I am!! My favorite band!! I'm a 66 year old ex-trumpet player.

I got the chance to met and talk with John Duffey at the Winter Hawk Bluegrass Festival back in the early 80s and was one of the best person to person talks I had with someone. R I P John you are missed and know you are singing and playing with the angels in heaven.

This is exactly how I always pictured the music of the Dead to live on...as pure Americana.

the number of times I've corrected other Grateful Dead fans (I love the GD) because they've claimed an ancient song is the music of the Dead is absurd. Going Down the Road Feeling Bad. Mama Tried. The list goes on and on.

it is not the grateful dead’s original song but you would be crazy to say that this is not in the style of the grateful dead. This is the dead’s arrangement of the traditional song. So in a way it is a dead cover, although it is indeed a traditional song..

I kept in touch with Joe Val, and Mike Aldridge. Mike talked about a Chesapeake music opp to me in emails. Mike and I met several times over the years because I expressed to him my interest in dobro, how I tuned my dread naught to it, and my love for it. We became friends. The last time I went to a Scene concert was in 2005 in New Bedford , Mass. Only original member was Ben Eldridge, banjo, and he I knew then was aging fast and would likely be the last time I could see the Scene! Mike died in that time frame, Duffey too, Starling, Rosenthal, Grey, live today as far as I know. I'm next....Life has been wonderful to me also because of them.

You have no idea what your talking about Bo do some reserch Dudly Conell played for them Lou Reed did also and the others are family of Seldom Scene
@bolowney89782 жыл бұрын
@@javenfogleman5798 I know exactly what I'm talking about, Javen. Who "played for them" is immaterial. Yes Dudley Connell and Lou Reed spent time in the band. My point exactly. While they are both exemplary bluegrass musicians and singers, neither were original band members. While the current Seldom Scene is a fine bluegrass band," there are no original members. They're really just a Seldom Scene tribute band.
