It has to be jealousy, that's the only explanation I can think of. I for one am thankful we have Billy to carry the torch for the future generation of flatpickers, we're truly lucky.

@@babswright2664 I couldn't have said it better myself. My father-in-law is in a bluegrass band, and Billy got on stage with them at this festival they played. They all said he was just the nicest guy. I'll post the link if I can find the video! Also, don't feel bad. I live in America and I still haven't seen him live.

The key to being this caliber, is absolutely being the music. These guys are their own frequency. They have fun with it every single note, measure and riff they play. I haven't heard one song from Billy that hasn't blown me away in some form or another.

Break down some of his concerts how he progresses the songs uniquely throughout as you go on the journey. Not everyone can feel that. Even if you play forever. He has it. Many don't.

Man, I havent kept up with the bluegrass scene real closely for a couple years. I start digging around looking for something new to listen to and find this kid. I dont give a damn if hes cocky. That boy is the total package. And playing classics without some " new " BS twist. Not that I dont like the new stuff ...I do. But a kid who actually knows and plays the classics and loves doing it???!! Good stuff.

Man, I was there for this and it was incredible. I think what makes it so special is that Billy is just throwing out everything he has got and completely trusts that Bryan Sutton is going to toss it right back to him. It elevates them both.

Simply amazing! And I’m a die hard death metal musician. Stage presence, undeniable talent, and passion. Flawless performance every time I watch these guys. And Billy in my opinion is the Stevie Ray Vaughn, Darrell Abbot, Chuck Berry....of bluegrass! I’m sure it’s an October 3rd thing. Favorite song by Billy is Taking Water. Billy was artist at large at Grey Fox 2019. I was a volunteer with backstage pass. I got to see UP CLOSE that Billy is a music geek, totally tripping on Del McCoury and the Earls of Leicester, just like everybody else. He played with dang near every act on the bill, not showing off, but adding to each group. Props. I hope he I'm listening 20 years from now.

I do believe that that vintage 1948 Martin D-28 that Sutton is playing there is now being played by Billy Strings. That's the level of respect between a former Bluegrass Guitar Player of the Year and a future one. In fact, Billy is nominated for that award this year and may win it.

That's the great thing about KZbin. You can find this or another Billy Strings song and then go back and see him as a kid with his dad on the couch. Lots of interviews and Billy is always well spoken and nice, there's videos of him breaking down his rig and telling stories of playing at age six. you may be shocked... it was a far, far cry from a field of flowers. If you go to his channel you may read some background story. It began in a trailer park of darkness, mischief and mayhem his entire childhood, except his step dad taught him bluegrass and that was his saving grace. But all the hardship shaped him and gave him a lot of unique insights to create songs with and clearly, he has a powerful Will (which is his name ~ WillIAm)🙏
