We were forced into that situation thanks to money problems that accrued a little while after us kids were born. To think anyone would deliberately put their child through that just to save money is honestly borderline, if not plain, abusive. Even when we had to live like that, our water never looked brown like that. Plus, when my family did it, we would go in order of age most of the time. That way us kids got the clean water and our parents got the grosser water. This woman said herself that she puts herself first so she gets the clean water and her kids have to have, most of the time, her and her husband's rank ass water. At least my mum would put us kids first to make sure we were clean - this woman just doesn't care and it's sad.

when I was a kid (about up until I was 7-9) my parents would always take individual showers but my 3 siblings and I took turns using the same bath water about once a week maybe. I would sometimes take my bath at the same time as my younger brother (only when I was little tho). because it went oldest to youngest that often meant I was in the last bath. the water was never completely clear when it got to me and we all knew it was likely at least one of us peed in it. I vividly remember one time taking a bath with my brother and a log of poop just floated up to the top of the water. I quickly got out and toweled off. That was too much for me.

Because this is America and dental care is for the wealthy. Insurance under the ACA, which they're likely on, only covers vision and dental for minors. So if you're a low income adult you're more than likely paying for dental work out of your own pocket. I have very good health insurance under the ACA, but no vision or dental and since I can't see without glasses, dental appointments end up on the back burner. Luckily my teeth haven't started hurting yet.
