You do know that being sefardi is a lineage right? Meaning a certain group of people, and not a religion. You converted to a religion my friend. A religion that is and was never yours. Maybe research your ancestry, read the Torah and understand that Torah is the laws given to men from our creator’ not a man made religion. While you’re at it look up who made up Judaism. Hence the ‘ism.

@@zmezgar2387 i took a DNA test with my mom and 2 of my uncles and that’s why I found out, I converted before yes so to me is a surprise because my family is Sephardic but they practice any other religion I practice Judaism is in my blood , and by the way any religion is open to anyone who wants to convert by choice and with love . There are many denominations of Judaism like many denominations of Christianity or Buddhism God is one and love all of us

What are the markers to know Sephardic roots? . Both of my last names my father’s side and mother’s side are Sephardic , how to know through dna?
@JewishLifeTV3 жыл бұрын
If you take a DNA test through any of the major testing services (Ancestry, Family Tree DNA, 23 & Me, etc.), if you have any genetic markers showing Sephardic heritage, it will come up in your report. Sephardic markers are easily identified in DNA testing.

It is nearly impossible to be Latino, & not have any Jewish blood in you. The scriptures say that two out of three people in the world have Israelite blood. Shalom!

This doesn't surprise me, I'm all three Spanish from the Pyreneese Mountain Range, Southwest Native American and Mexican, it's the birth secrets of my historic countries I'm having to work hard on to learn rather than what's likely to be in part of my DNA........ Plus my Autism and Epilepsy prove more of my hidden relationship with Ancient tribes of Africa. The European part my history confusing me is what were the Jewish Basque like. I don't yet get the idea of what Basques and Jews of Iberia had in common while getting along.

Can anyone please tell me how sephardic surnames significantly are visigothic?
@ahk98383 жыл бұрын
are they? most are toponimics, from cities where they used to live

@@ahk9838 cities of visigoths... And im really sorry to refute you for there are families named with the surnames already existed at visigoths reign...
@noahtylerpritchett26823 жыл бұрын
Maybe because they intermix with the Visigoths or adopted the names to assimilate partially to become elites. Now Sephardi look like any southern European or North African not Germanic so they aren't very Gothic. But they could be part Goth for some.
@priscillavelazquezs2 жыл бұрын
@@ihsanamsal2947 that is, EXACTLY what I’m wondering. But I guess one would just have to get dna testing. Im a Velázquez and Orellana. I wonder about the Velazquez. However my children are Velazquez- Saravia and those are both Sephardic! What about the velazquez and Saravia’s that were already named that way before surnames were forcible assigned to Jews in Spain? Velazquez is recognized as Basque origin. Yet the -ez suffix means son of (Basque) Being that I’m South American, it’s very possible both my ex husband and I, come from some exiled Sephardic ancestor mixed with indigenous Americans. So confusing!
@priscillavelazquezs2 жыл бұрын
Also, these name origins are not just visigothic, but can very well have Roman and Arab origins, yet applied to Jews by the Church.

Dwarfism? That is about the most ridiculous and senseless assumption, sephardic jews are not tall, however they aren't short either, they are medium height people by nature, in latin America we have alot of admixture and if most hispanics in latin America are short its due to their tribal indigenous genes because most tribes of the americas are short, and not sephardic jews, as far as breast cancer or any cancers go that may be a possibility because cancer is not common among people of indigenous tribal genes
@lupeguadalupe93115 ай бұрын
Many tribes in the Americas are tall and a lot of us Latinos have Spanish last names which were sure names and forced upon us through the force conversions to Catholicism. So yes a lot of us are petite or shorter due to our Sephardic blood
@MoonLight-zk3gm5 ай бұрын
@lupeguadalupe9311 most indigenous tribes in latin America are not tall, there are some that are but most are short, sephardics are not short, but medium height so I disagree
