KEN & BARBIE KILLERS (KARLA HOMOLKA)-The Canadian serial killer, alongside her husband Paul Bernardo, drugged, raped and murdered three women, including her own younger sister. While the world watched in shock as her sentencing unfolded, Karla struck a deal claiming that she had been an unwilling accomplice to her husband and walked away a free woman in 2005 after only serving 12 years in prison. In recent years, she was met with protesters trying to prevent her from working in a school. (1992)

I remember growing up in Canada in the 90s and this case was front and centre on every news outlet. Before he was caught I remember hearing about the Scarborough rapist and I remember the summer before he was caught every female that lived in Toronto or the surrounding area was terrified to even go for a walk. One of the victims moms came to my high school and talked to us about being safe in our surroundings and to share her daughters story with us. To this day because of that case I always remember to be aware of my surroundings. It truly was a chilling time in Canadian history. It blows my mind that Karla is out of jail due to a plea deal when they had videos as proof! What a monster!

Not to mention the rest of these poor little GIRLS that she defiled and destroyed for hers & Pauls own sick amusement 😡I hope every single day she looks her children in the face she feels nothing but disgust for HERSELF for the horrible things she did to someone else's children and i hope she hates herself for it. Acting solo as the Scarborough rapist, Paul Bernardo brutalized his female victims, but he never killed anyone or even attempted to kill anyone. Only when he moved in with Karla Homolka did victims start dying, and also only when Karla was directly involved in those respective crimes.

@@TheBob1901 That was the same kind of technicality that one used to assume Larry Fisher didn't murder Gail Miller. Bernardo and Homolka murdered their victims after they abducted them and held them captive, so as to conceal their sex crimes.

Very true…..Paul was a rapist, not a killer until Karla came along…..and, with their first victim being her own sister, it makes you wonder….even though they did not plan to kill Tammy, they definitely planned and carried out the rape with no hesitation nor remorse from Karla…..Paul didn’t kill the victim who saw him and was able to give an exact composite sketch and identify him….without her would he have committed murder? Without him, would she have committed murder? We will never truly know whose idea it was to kill Leslie and Kristen….but, imo, they are both evil people….she deserved to spend life in prison right along with him! May someone please watch over her children…she’s a dangerous murderer and hopefully her children won’t inherit those killer genes from her!

I swear I read something that said she had been living in Cuba or somewhere of the like, either way she played the justice system to her advantage. She knew there would be no case without her giving evidence and she managed to strike that deal before she gave anything. Knowing that once she did speak up she could have faced the same sentencing as he did. She should be in jail for the rest of her life. Also I would love to know how her children feel (or will feel when they are old enough to understand the crimes she committed) once they read and listen to all the stories and the opinions on the stories of her crimes

@hamanamanama2263 how is she allowed to help at the school in any capacity whatsoever!? In Alberta all parents who volunteer at the school have to complete a criminal record check and a vulnerable sectors check before they're allowed to be involved with the children attending.(Firld trips lunch programs, etc) Meaning that if u in any way shape or form have any convictions or history involving sex crimes or crimes against minors, that u are not allowed to volunteer. I would be absolutely LIVID if my child's school allowed anybody like Karla Homolka into the school let alone allowed to be involved with the other children in the school! Somebody needs to go FULL KAREN on that school👊

This story is so disturbing that i cant get it out of head. How she did it to her younger sister while her husband filming is pure evil. How her lawyer's brother married her knowing everyrhing about her is unimaginable. How can you sleep and have sex with a woman like that? What was she thinking having a child in her situation? She dont deserved to have a normal life. I wonder where she works now and What kind of employer hire someone like her? People would say be kind give her a chance. Id say people like her dont deserve a chance, she helps torture, rape and murder their poor victims. I wish she had a hard life but knowing she have work, a nice home to stay, well, i guess life is so unfair then. Shes living a normal life, 12 years is too short for the kind of crime they committed. . 🙄

Why wasn’t there a condition in her plea deal where if she lied about anything in her statement the deal would be rescinded? They say that the Crown could not rescind the deal but I find that laughable….the Crown can do whatever they want….but, they allowed her to keep the deal in place even after they found the tapes which, allegedly, show her as a willing participant and that she is just as guilty as Paul….12 years for 3 rapes and murders, 2 of which were premeditated….all so that they would have a testifying witness against Paul! Unbelievable!!

When weird fantasies turn into reality ,a serial killer is always Involved in the crimes , what they both did , was not delusional disorder ,but very heinous plotted crimes Karla is not a victim , but a murderer who sacrificed her biological sister for this monster and helped him take the lives of other innocent girls in very shocking saddening and horrifying ways ,then played the role of the victim . I still don’t understand how could they set her free and what deal was made to get only 12 years in prison? , for God’s sake they have video tapes as concrete evidence of her participation in the crime.

They wouldnt leave the route, but that way i didnt have to walk at all, i got dropped off in front of the house instead of the bus stop. The drivers would do that for anyone who asked. I think it was because of all the attacks on women after bus rides agter dark. They made it a regular thing

Right? And as if that is not bad enough .. they also KNEW that a serial rapist was lurking (or at that point had to know about this and even if not, they knew that not all people who run around are nice). I am not into blaming victims or their family and of course: those two killers murdered that girl.. But this is one of the cases where the parents are to blame too, they put the child they were supposed to protect in harms way, there is no other way to spin that. Had she only known that all she had to do was go to the next house she sees and call CPS.. I live in Germany and here they would have come and told the parents, that they aren't even allowed to lock out a child like that but I am pretty sure that Canada too has a law that tells you to protect your kid, not lock it out to make a point. If one needs to make a point, ground your kid or take away privileges like TV or stuff.. Yes kid will be mad too, but it will be made in a place that is safer than out on the streets at night alone.

Not defending them but one explanation could be back then tough love was all the rage when it came to unruly teens You as the parent laid down the law and you backed up the warnings without involving corporal punishment Ex "You can't call and tell us you are going to be late or not bother coming home on time at all? Thats the 3rd time this month! I have to work early in the morning and can't wait all night for you! If you are not home on time this time I am locking the door and you can sleep on the back porch!" You took a stance and stood your ground Not saying it was right thing to do but it was very common

I was smoking a joint and he pulls up at the intersection in this nice red sports car and says hey want to for for a ride? I said no thanks, and he says ah come on!! Im like no man ,Im alright ! Then he squealed his tires as he took off with a pissed off look on his face . Then when I saw his pic in the news I knew it was him. @@recordealer1It is a well known fact that he drove a gold Nissan and when the car was misidentified it was for a tan coloured Camaro NEVER a red sports car. I highly doubt it was Bernardo you saw as you yourself admitted to being drunk and smoking pot. Another thing is Paul and Karla were trying hard not to get caught so it’s highly unlikely they’d want to be borrowing vehicles from friends to add to suspicion! Especially not a bright red sports car that would draw a lot of attention. Paul was switching license plates not cars so I think it’s safe to say you weren’t approached by Bernardo. He liked his victims to be young virgins and after the first murder he had to be a lot more careful and planned out how they were going to abduct Kristen French. So for so many reasons it’s absolutely ridiculous to assume it was him you escaped.

As sick and twisted as she was let's not forget that Paul was the mastermind as the police found out. The tapes were not immediately revealed hence the plea bargain. Surprisingly, there was much more media driven vitriol against her than against Paul. The person to give Crown's evidence always seems to get the lesser punishment otherwise the cases might not have been solved.
