Fair punishment for someone who's really not mentally nor emotionally fit to be one of the representatives of a professional esports scene. Setsuko is goated at the game but his immaturity and bad attitude will continuously keep him from greatness unless he changes. Hopefully he takes this time off to go to therapy and come out a better human being. Otherwise I wouldn't want someone like that being pushed as a face of TFT, regardless of his skill level.

Compare this to how Pro IRL sports handles similar stuff and you will see pretty much the same thing. Brand integrity, and more importantly brand image, are the only things that really matter to these companies. As long as you maintain brand image and integrity then competitive integrity can take a hit. I certainly agree with the ban. I don't recommend people try to compare win trading to this. That will just make the community look bad. We don't want to look like we care more about the purity of a game when the question at hand is regarding the dignity of entire cultures.

Am I misunderstanding something here or is Setsuko only banned from tournaments ... like, in a universe, in which Riot could totally suspend an account, they've simply stopped someone that makes most of their money by streaming from participating in "Riot-sanctioned" tournaments. I think the key thing about China's issue is due to the fact that it was not related to illegal betting/gambling that technically break the law and they think it was fine or casual competitive behavior that it did not cross their mind that it became intentional colluding which an actual change in the rule book for Chinese TFT competitive scene should shift things up and hopefully stopping them to collude in international competitive scenes as CN really does take esports integrity seriously, heck even the Vietnam Cartel incident was not even sanctioned and banned because the Viets themselves have a huge scene of illegal betting/gambling involved and also got a slap in the wrist for it (Because the guy got banned was banned for illegal gambling) despite they finally get caught when Vietnam finally ain't a separate competitive slot/scene anymore and this was like quite recent as well that no one even brought the comparison to because CN has been doing it for at least 6-7 sets, but yeah Riot should just not have double standards and actually fix the issues with collusion for all regions

The twitch comment they replied to was as bad as their reply and screencapping the comment to post it again on twitter to further stoke the flames is without a doubt worse. Maybe they actually did something unprovoked earlier, idk, I am not involved in TFT drama and I don't wish to be, but the way you portrayed it was not very impartial. You say "banning for the whole set", but that's a very limited way of looking at it. 2 months is not a long ban. The format of competitive TFT also makes any other ban mostly meaningless: Oh no, you are gonna stop him from playing in one of 5 different qualifying events when he is going through snapshots anyway and are letting him play at worlds? Yeah that will almost going to be noticeable for him.

As far as Win Trading goes, for the next set Riot just needs to have a global announcement that going forward there will be a zero tolerance policy for win trading. Don't worry about retroactively punishing people, just make it clear to everyone that it won't be acceptable from the next set onward. Yeah people will be upset about them letting previous win traders get away with it, but retroactive bans are just messy, so easier to just draw a line in the sand and strictly enforce it from that point onward.

Riot is really messing up with these rulings. It also happened in Valorant where G2's coach was heard celebrating with the team on their discord/TS and got a slap on the wrist but when it happened in NA with the "help sewers" incident it was a full blown DQ. There are other well known incidents in Valorant of Riot's poor judgement and ruling like the illegal Cypher cam and KJ mollies with varying degrees of punishments. I remembered one of the players said that in their region it was not forbidden but in Champions (Valorant Worlds) it was. I think they need to standardize their rulebooks across all Riot games departments all over the world and not have different rules with varying punishments for breaking them.

Is there really, in your mind, not another appropriate thing you could have said or done? This is pathetic. Your behavior here is nothing short of petulant. Your arguments are childish. Its like listening to a toddler explain that they absolutely *HAD* to throw a block at another kid because that child upset them. Any adult could explain to a child that there are plenty of way to approach and solve a situation without resorting to unacceptable behavior. As a matter of fact, looking closely at your post, you DID have another avenue, which you used. You reported him to Riot with receipts. However, since he got ugly, you decided you absolutely had to as well, and instead of allowing an official investigation into his behavior run its course you felt the need to post a list of school shootings.

The punishments just don't feel consistent at all. In no world should words on a stream being taken SIGNIFICANTLY more seriously then win trading across multiple sets and even at worlds. I think setsuko's punishment it correct, maybe a little harsh, but Riot are essentially saying that they view violating the competitive integrity of a tournament as less of an offense which just feels really strange. It feels like since they haven't punished it in the past they are just letting it go now because of precedent. They need to make some kind of statement about it, acknowledge that it happened in the past, and say going forward they are going to take a significantly harsher stance against it.

BOOOOOOOOO! Riot games is going woke....let gamers say whatever the fuck they want....if it's something you don't support cheer on their competitors! It's better to beat people you dislike than just outright deny them. All denying will do is make people leave TFT. "We DOnT WaNt ThOsE PEoplE AnYWAy!" is the biggest clown take of all time. It feels like falling into a stupid trap being led to conflate correct and reasonable rules like "be respectful in a professional context" with rules that are poisoned with ideological subtext like "don't do a hate speechrinooooo!!" Setsuko was a jerk, in the most classical way. He should be punished for this? yes, probably. But under "discrimination and denigration" rules? thats absurd. But anyways, that's what happens when you put ideological zealots in positions of power.

I get where you're coming from, but they have it very specifically worded in Riot's code of conduct which is why he got punished for it. If he just said "r*tards" without the brazilians after, then he wouldn't have gotten hit with that one - but grouping together an entire population just ain't it in general. I think his punishment is deserved, and he's lucky that it isn't any longer tbh - 2 months is a short punishment, its easier to take it on the chin and learn from it. Edit: Seeing a bit more of the video and the win-trading shit, that should've been a mega clappening over that.

how is it 'ideological zealotry' to not want players repeatedly and remorselessly dropping slurs and insulting nationalities? he's an adult who gets to play videogames for a living, he should grow up.
