In this video we go on a road trip to the Severn Valley Heritage Railway in Shropshire. We also visit the town of Bridgnorth and take a look at the history there. We look at Bridgnorth castle scene of a medieval seige in the English civil war between royalists and Oliver Cromwell. The castle leans to one side due damage in the Civil war. We take a look at the cliffside funicular railway. The steepest in England. We also look at the river Severn. This video also we see classic British Diesel heritage locomotives class 20, class 50, class 52 western and class 42 warship and class 47 locomotives. Some wonderful railway architecture and a classic railway signal box.

Just finished another wonderful video..... I have never been to this part of the UK.. I was born in Halifax just after the war, but have never visited ..I must have family up this way but have never met any of them....When I watched this video Martin, I become totally immersed ..and then I become aware of how much I have missed, living so far away in Canada.. My roots are still in England .. My soul just yearns for home all the time.. I say all the time, but I try to stifle it or I wouldn't survive..Thank you for enabling me to connect with something I miss terribly ...xx

I can watch the trains on the Severn Valley from my back garden - and it’s great to see it back in operation again! We’ve often caught the train from Bewdley to Bridgnorth on a Saturday morning to go to the market there. The little rail car is a Parry People Mover - one runs the line between Stourbridge Town and Stourbridge Junction - before that is was a diesel rail car, we called it the ‘Dodger’ - I used to catch it every day to and from school! Glad you enjoyed your stay, and I hope you come again!

I loved watching this. When I was young we lived by a railway and at night, there was the comforting clank of bumpers; slow clackety-clack, the low hum of engines, and quiet sound of goods wagons. During the day I loved watching endless streams of goods trucks and tankers slowly going past. I loved it. I can still smell the oily deisel fumes.
