Even as a fan of Rhod's appearances on WILTY, this is the first of his stand-up stuff I'm seeing online. The amount of hilarity he milks from this toothbrush bit and in the bit with the shower gel email reply is nothing like I've ever seen before. Love this!

Not even close. When i was 15 i got a shoe shine kit from my parents. It was the big present that year.

That sounds like an unsubtle shove towards early independence: "Get out on the street, child; start shining shoes for money. Next year we're either charging you rent or kicking you out to fend for yourself."😁

I felt this rant in my soul. Christmas a few years ago. Go home to visit the family. Mom got me a gift and she's super proud of it. She found a 20 dollar air fryer. But it was on sale for 10 bucks. It was such a tiny worthless air fryer that the best thing I can do with it is fry up half a potato. and it only had 2 settings, On and off. And she bragged about how she found it for "only 10 dollars". Yes thank you mother, I really feel the love with this air fryer as a gift. Next year maybe you could buy me a blender that only has a puree setting?

I would insist on using it for every barbecue and make them wait 20 mins for each burger

It makes me wonder what you got for Christmas the year previous to that and how much gratitude you expressed.

I always ask for them to get me nothing cause I'm usually just happy to come home and spend time with the family. My mom always insists on buying me something so I usually just ask for clothes or something for the kitchen. This was the one year I've ever asked for something that could even remotely be an expensive gift since I've become an adult.

@KazumaTheKloud Then perhaps your mum grew up learning how to turn a penny and is proud (and rightly so) when she's got something at a bargain price. I once bought a rollator because it was dirt-cheap. I had absolutely no need for it.

I neglected to mention this in the original post, but I supposed it is relevant. Everyone else in the family received various expensive gifts. Sister got expensive perfumes and makeup, brother got a thousand dollar knife set, grandkids got those weird 2 wheel hover board things. Then there's little ol me with the discount air fryer.

The first time I've ever disagreed with Rhod Gilbert. If I recieved that toothbrush, I'd be so excited, I'd rush to the bathroom to try it out right away. 😅

I'd buy Rhod something fun, like an ironing board

I wish he would have told us if that tooth brush did anything else, it seems a bit pricey for those limited features.
