*I would like to make a note that when I filmed this video, my knowledge of the Jungian 'Shadow' was less developed as it is now. The Shadow is better described as the summation of repressed contents and character traits that run contrary to our Ego selves (what we consciousness identify as). However, I hope this video delivers a general idea of the effects of repression, and the importance of bringing unconscious elements of one's psyche to conscious awareness!
In this video, I talk a little bit about our core fears that stem from our sub/unconscious minds, why they're important and how to identify them.
The concept of the 'Shadow' is taken mainly from Jungian Psychology, and describes the unconscious, instinctual/primitive and emotional forces of the psyche as a function of repressed contents. The workings of the Shadow, along with our core fears that were acquired in early life and reside in the Personal Unconscious, typically take us by surprise and interfere with the Ego personality (or the Persona). I also compare it to Freud's Iceberg, which was one of the first models of psychoanalysis.
