Loved watching this video, you guys are welcome onboard anytime. Couple of notes: Jason’s mistake with the jib was nothing compared to the mistakes we made that week! Nikki, you’re a legend, thank you for keeping us fed and calm😂 And yes, since you left, Nick had indeed been running around naked and I don’t think that comes as a surprise to anyone 😆. I’m very pleased to report that now, a couple of weeks after this was filmed, we’re getting on top of everything and that cruising ‘sweet spot’ is feeling very close! See you two around soon ❤

Good on you guys for getting things mostly sorted out relatively quickly. I didn't realize hull #2 was really the first one on the water in real use, so yes, there probably are a lot of minor issues to work out. I expect this is normal for any new boat and especially a new model. Glad to hear Seawind is working with you on things, as they should.

Yeah, big thanks to Nick and Terysa! And Hi! Didn't know about you two! And I so can't wait (but must, right?) for the Wynns to hit the water - I doubt they'll do a comparison of manufacturers but I know they'll show the harassments they experience [EDIT] on shakedown. And feed those back to HH! And HH will review and resolve them! I wait patiently for the Wynns to be back on the water.

Thanks for the very helpful, candid, and dare I say, sobering, video on what a shakedown cruise looks like. Thanks too to Nick and Theresa for having you onboard and for allowing you to film the challenges that anyone who buys a new boat will face in dealing with teething problems. I appreciate Nick's honesty about being exhausted as well as his advice about taking time each day to centre yourself. Wishing all four of you fair winds and following seas! 🙂

Nick & Terysa's advice around 26:00 is very wise. Nick tries to downplay it as dealing with 1st world problems but the reality is that for anyone venturing out with something new you do need to find ways to manage the emotional rollercoaster and train yourself to enjoy the ride. New business, new home, new family member, new country... learning to surf change, even good change, is an invaluable life skill. Thank you all for the brilliant video. Loved it!

Nick and Terysa were the first sailers to whom i subscribed. They both won me over with their sense of humor and also their willingness to show “the whole dance.” Even when circumstances step on their feet. So much planning and anticipation leading up to these first weeks of sailing ratchet up images of problems solved in advance. Sailing is still sailing with all of its surprises. Like new parents, the beauty of this addition comes with a fresh dose of the the working reality. The Wynns got to play the role of grandparents. The perspective and positivity we helpful but, the baby is not yours. You get to leave and they need to bring up their baby. Love to all of you for sharing your lives with so many people you will never meet. You touch our lives in the best ways!

Completely agree with Terysa's comment at the end - that the expectation of reaching a big goal is that you will be overcome with feelings of accomplishment and joy. Having reached a life goal myself this year, I was surprised that I didn't feel that much different. People ask how it feels - and the honest truth is that - while it's nice to have reached the goal - I'm not overcome with emotion. The satisfaction trickles in a little at a time.

Nikki & Jason when you get your boat do as many local day trips in perfect conditions just to get used to the boat & sort out all the little things. I could see the stress on Ruby Rose 2 sailing between islands in windy rainy rough sea conditions because it all became too much. Piano Piano as they say in Italy. I can't wait for you to pick up your boat. Once again we love you guys.

You should try to add a breadmaker to your utilities on the boat. Hot bread with a butter is delicious, and you can add whatever inside the dough, before it is showed into the breadmaker for baking. Can make bread with olives, mushrooms and spices inside.

A good honest video. Personally I prefer content we can all learn from rather than be entertained with. A tip for Ruby Rose, I have a new Highfield tender too. There is a small rubber bung on the drain hole accessed from the outside. Its not really needed, remove it and the boat will drain so much faster. Just remember to put the internal plug in before you drop the tender in the water. Happy sailing and congratulations on your new boat, very well done! 🎉

Wow! The last interview about the excitement roller coaster hit home. I travel full time in my bus RV with my dog Tigger. I can so relate! Yes its awesome to live in a big bus motorhome but there’s a lot going on. My extra challenge is that I have incomplete paralysis and I’m just 10 months of being able to walk without any canes. I spent 2 years in my wheelchair wondering if I’ll ever walk again. I was still using my walker when I got my bus and this lifestyle change really challenged me which somehow I’m officially walking again! I’m currently practicing holding something in both hands and trying to walk, I’ve spent the last 5 years always using one or both hands to assist in taking steps. I want to share the secret to changing your life which is the practice of gratitude. Everyday as you get out of bed say and feel 5 things you’re grateful for counting them on your right hand. One your left hand count 5 things that you hope for BUT express your gratitude like they already happened, be grateful BEFORE they come. This sounds simple but it took 5 years to figure this method out, this process has a lot of hidden benefits and it actually attracts miracles 🙏♥️💪

All in all a great cruise for you as well as Nik and Theresa. Safe to assume that you might return the favor on your shakedown cruise? Ask anyone who has done a major renovation on a house, they will tell you it puts a lot of stress on a relationship, and even the when completed you discover things that you thought were a good idea, but once completed you realize that it may not be what you envisioned. Building a boat and sailing it is a lot more intense if you ask me.

Saw another KZbin where they had the escape hatch break from heavy waves. This May or may not be good idea. But.. Maybe ask your boat maker if they can make the glass door like a half bubble or ball , or at least curved. It seems like that would keep the full force from hitting the glass door. Like the door or cover over the door , Just a thought , it sounds good to me, at least until the engineer tells us how that won’t work, lol Anyway just an idea. That was so cool to see you four sailing together again. I have to say it is kind of weird to see Nick and Teresa sailing in a catamaran. They have always been in my brain the monohull couple. LOL You really did a great job of telling the story with all of the frustration but not having a camera in Nick and Teresa's faces as they are using some most colorful language (Nick). The truth is that people watch these videos like when Tula's Endless Summer got LaurieSue and she had some things that needed to be fixed the comments were, "OMG! Seawind is so horrible!" I am like, so you have never owned a brand new house? Have you ever bought a new module in its first year of production of a car? Hell, brand-new cars often need things fixed right away. I had a brand new car where the battery died as in dead, never coming to live again. I took it to the manufacturer and they put another brand new battery in the car and told me to not worry, for the first 4 years if the battery kept dying they would keep putting brand new batteries in it. That was the last battery I had to replace when the car was 4 years old my daughter totaled it (she was fine). I guess I am saying this to all of those people who want to criticize the manufacturer or Nick and Teresa for their choice, shit breaks on brand-new stuff. Things have to be replaced, even upgraded because that is how life works! It isn't a reflection of anything! I have seen brand new homes that had major problems, and the builders were done with the home when the home was done. They weren't calling to see how things were going and if anything needed to be fixed or changed for damn sure!

Thank you so much for the review on the blue bowls. My parent's 32-year-old Corian countertops have been scratched through normal wear and tear but still look terrific! PRO TIP: Choose earth tones (theirs is guacamole green) with varied spots of color. Solid tones show wear much earlier. PRO TIP: Insist on bullet-proof hammock anchor points over the bed for when the sailing isn't so smooth. PRO TIP: Remember to move camera from macro to distant before filming. PRO TIP: When soaked by the ocean, immediately rinse with fresh water then fughettabout it.

I am not a sailor, but every time I see new things that claim to simplify but over complicate a process I am very skeptical of it. There's a give and take of course but keeping things stupid simple and reliable is typically advantageous. Thanks for filming a shakedown sail. Learning a new boat, just like a new machine or a new truck for me, can be a headache. But it'll all get sorted out with time, patience, and critical thinking/problem solving. Hope all goes well with these two and they get it worked out fairly soon. It's just new stuff problems man. Stuff happens. Happy sailing everyone!

The 1370 looks to be extremely well built - Nick did a great job of showing us the build in all those episodes. The thing that surprises me is just how HUGE the saloon / cockpit area is, it seems to be about twice the space available on an Outremer 45 - which is 48 feet in length. I'd like to see your HH-44 along side the 1370. I suspect that with all the carbon fiber in the HH it well be pretty close to the same amount of space as Ruby Rose. Thanks so much for shooting these two episodes, it's a BIG deal moving onto a new boat and I can completely understand Nick's and Terysa's exhaustion in sorting everything out!

Nearly all large boats are custom/hand made just like RVs only more so. This video got me thinking about all of the folks I have heard complaining about the issues with their new RVs. I remind them that the production of the entire RV industry is less than the production of the Ford F150 for a year. It's no wonder that there are niggling little issues with boats and RVs. Like Nick and Terysa said, just enjoy the moment and things will work themselves out. Keep the good stuff coming guys and safe travels.

You should get hold of Tula’s Endless Summer as they have just got a new Seawind and they have had an “interesting” shakedown period too, I am interested in how Seawind responds to the issues that have arisen that are due to manufacturing rather than user error. Good luck and can’t wait to meet your new boat when you eventually get it 🥰

Hey Wynns, Can you pass this thing onto RR2...to add to their list of things...Nick needs to add a metre of 10mm elastic cord to the side stays//shrouds in a zig-zag fashion - reasonably tight to stop the leeward shrouds from flapping about when on a windward leg when sailing. This is Jeanne Diener Stark from Clearwater Florida I really admire you guys for doing it the way you want to do it. Must be horrible to sit there and wait for the sting to emerge but I’ll be worth it remember that! Right now, I am waiting for our house to be given back to us it’s a it’s a trial

Yup, new boat new car new home. hell even a new soulmate. All needs that learning curve, new doesn't mean worry free. Its the small unexpected tidbits that will get your panties all twisted like that furler or lines close too drums. All in all great knowing it floats... Now lets go sailing..

Loved the advice from Nick Terysa. My wife an I are in the process of buying a new to us boat. Nick: Brilliant comments about centering and living in the moment. Terysa: thank you for putting into words some of the thoughts. How ARE we supposed to feel?! Dunno. First boat, new adventure together. New life. Good stuff! Thanks!

Hint for dropping the main on a Seawind. Flake out the main loosely on the deck behind. Turn into the wind. Pop the clutch, and let gravity work. No need to leave the cockpit.

Hi Nikki and Jason, this is one of those videos that take a viewer back in time. When my Father and I launched a Clinker hull yawl rigged boat, it didn't yet have the motor installed and we sailed off the dock and back in relying only on the sails. We learned the importance of line management early on because tangled lines meant hitting another boat or hitting the dock with a sail still up because a line tangled. Take a look at Ts: 08:15, 18:10 and 18:32 for examples of issues of line management. I'm looking forward to your video's of the new HH, it should be fun.

I hope you guys have special guests for your shakedown sail. Now I'm trying to think who i would want to see most for that monumental sail. Love your videos!

Hi Guys glad you had to have the experience, now you have an idea what to look out for. Regarding the dingy davits, I think that Sean on 8801 has the perfect davit setup as the dingy will be level.

My guess, you've learned a ton, just won't realize how much, till you do your own break-in cruise. Nick & Terysa, RR2 is a beautiful craft; enjoy the learning. Terysa, watch your AWS! Fair winds...
