A discussion about the social, legal and political aspects of the Shamima Begum case with :
- Josh Baker - award-winning investigative journalist and director of the BBC documentary "The Shamima Begum Story" and creator of the Podcase series "I'm not a Monster" (a 4-year investigation of one family's journey to the heart of ISIS controlled Syria and their return to America).
- Tasnime Ajunjee - Shamima Begum's family lawyer / criminal defence solicitor working in the field of Terrorism and Terrorism related offending. Akunjee is also involved in matters relating to the repatriation of ‘regrettees’ (persons who have travelled to conflict zones and then regretted their initial decision).

It's always someone elses fault; from Prevent to Nigel Farage. I'm a British Bangladeshi same as Tasnim. He doesn't mention the rising tide of Conservative Saudi-inspired Wahhabi Islam in our Muslim communities in the UK. The obsession with creating an ahistorical Caliphate in the Muslim world that is divorced from reality. The fact that Masjids, Charities, Madrashas and other places that you would expect children to be safe are now peopled by some who are peddling grievance politics and trying to create a parallel Arabesque culture in our inner cities. We should also address the growing intergenerational divide where our kids can't speak openly with elders incl parents. We absolutely don't talk about relationships and sex. This creates spaces for extremists to befriend children. These girls went to Syria in part to meet their handsome Jihadi Knights in shining armour rather than have no choice in a marriage partner chosen by parents, maybe from 'back home'. We need to reflect as a community how to solve some of our issues rather than deflect and blame the government only. Tasnim is now standing as an independent candidate for the next Parliament for Bethnal Green & Bow based entirely on the Gaza war. So he isn't as far removed from the same Islamic political identity politics that animated some of Shamima's actions. Best that everyone in the debate declares their biases, motivations and sympathies. Not just one side.

The best thing we can do is bring her on a boat. Once in UK, they cant deport her and due process must take place. Either we take this action, or we become complacent and allow a new wave of deporting British Citizens. Dangerous grounds doing nothing.
