The Shed ...moves! - Diller Scofidio + Renfro, Rockwell Group - NYC

The Shed has a telescoping enclosure allowing the building to adapt for different exhibits and events. It is located along the High Line and was designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro with the Rockwell Group.
The Shed’s shell that covers the McCourt space can retract over the base building to open the plaza to outdoor programming. Gantry crane technology found in shipping ports was adapted to allow the outer shell to move on its 6 foot diameter wheels along the double wheel tracks.
