Excellent work. I would have had three nervous breakdowns by this point. Cutting into that beautifully carved body! Oh, my!

Thanks Bert, my heart was in my mouth the whole time and measure twice cut once doesn't even come close to the amount of checking I did!!

Really enjoying this build, Patrick. It’s going to be a stunner. The more builds I watch, the more I think guitar making is like Who Wants to be a Millionaire; you really don’t want to get anything wrong the closer you get to the end!

Thanks Fred, yes, this bit and the neck tenon are vitally important. No room for error!!

13.43 it seems that a little piece of binding got missing there. btw what clean route!
@Adventuresfromtheshedofdreams3 жыл бұрын
It's actually a tiny step in the wood behind the binding, just makes it look like there's an issue with the binding. Thankfully all is well :)

It gets kind of hairy with that much router bit hanging out of a little router like that. Looking good my friend.
@Adventuresfromtheshedofdreams3 жыл бұрын
Tell me about it, there wasn't much more than 6mm in the collet. Not recommended! Thankfully I only had to take a hair with the final pass. Really happy to get that cut done without issue :)
@6StringPassion.3 жыл бұрын
I was wondering why you chose not to cut the neck pocket before attaching the top and back, and then removing the wood over the pocket from the top after it was attached to the body.
@Adventuresfromtheshedofdreams3 жыл бұрын
I prefer to do it this way in case there are any alignment issues at glue up. It would be easier to do as you suggest as it gets a bit scetchy routing that deep!!
@javierc38603 жыл бұрын
Nice work mate! Perphaps I've missed it, but .. have you consider the angle in the cavity so as to make the neck fit the bridge properly?
@Adventuresfromtheshedofdreams3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Javier, I will be putting the angle on the neck tenon. I find it easier to that way. It gives me an opportunity to set the neck in the exact position. I'll be covering that in the next episode.

@@Adventuresfromtheshedofdreams Absolutely surprising option, I had never thought about that before, perhaps I'm still a bit newbie .... I asked you 'cause I'm making kind of a CS-356, 35cm width instead of the 40cm of the ES-335. I really appreciate your work, congratulations!

Also, how were you able to cut such a deep neck pocket. Where did you find a router bit of sufficient length?

Standing right in the line of fire using the router there, keep your mouth shut and breathe through the nose! lol

I am Adam, I've had the Katsu for over a year now and use it all the time. I think it is brilliant for the price, can't fault it.
