I really enjoyed watching this build from first to final episode. What a beautiful sounding and looking guitar. You really know how to do burst finishes that flatter the guitar without looking garish. Nice job. I would add that anyone who would get a 335 like this one is getting a better job than the Gibson factory could deliver. Their tops and backs are three-ply laminate fused in a giant hydraulic press. This is an authentic carved instrument which is no doubt more resonant, especially with its lacquer finish. My compliments.

Thanks James, glad you enjoyed it. This build was very challenging but I enjoyed almost every minute of it. The guitar is very resonant and sweet sounding well worth the effort. Trust me, 15 hours into carving the top and back I was wishing for a press and some veneers lol!!

I’m a recent discoverer of the page and this is the third build I’ve gone entirely through (fourth if you count the Esquire refurb). What a magnificent guitar! I deliberately refrained from looking ahead at the video thumbnails because I wanted to be surprised by your color choice. I was kind of hoping for Cherry Red, but this ‘burst is beautiful! I’m more of an acoustic player, but lean toward Teles when dabbling in electricland. Nonetheless, I have a sentimental thing for a 335, the first >$400 electric guitar anybody ever let me pick up (in 1968 or so). Thanks so much for the videos. - Paul

Those knobs are amber, not gold. Just so you don’t order the wrong knobs. I like the bell shaped style too. Maybe with a silver reflector/insert. The color is a bit unusual for a 335(tangerine burst-ey), so it’s kinda hard to picture it with different style knob in my head.
@Adventuresfromtheshedofdreams2 жыл бұрын
Good point, I knew what I meant lol :) It is an unusual burst for a 335 but I think the amber bell knobs will do the trick.

Great job!!! It looks awesome! I've really enjoyed this series. 👍👍 Just my opinion, but I really like the black knobs with your black pickup rings. I'm not sure if it is represented accurately on my screen, but your burst looks pretty amber dominant, so I like the contrasting dark knobs. Maybe play with other types of black or dark knobs. 🤷🏻♂️ Thank you for your great amount of effort and diligence!

Hi, I got the plans from JAG plans in the UK. www.etsy.com/uk/listing/487359211/plan-to-build-a-gibson-style-es335?click_key=a557191960f81c28b9160772e653d8aee40a85dc%3A487359211&click_sum=4f83d1a1&ref=shop_home_active_8&frs=1

Fabulous looking guitar - top quality work and product. I've been looking at your SG build to inform my own SG build. You make it look so straightforward, but I still find myself making basic errors! Hopfully it will turn out okay in the end. By the way what do you do with all your builds - do you keep them or sell the odd ones - if so what has determined your choice?

Thanks mate, if you are not making errors you're not learning anything :) Half the skill in these situations is knowing how to fix the cockups. My next project will demonstrate this ;) Most of the time I keep my builds but I'm getting to the point where I'm running out of places to keep them. The ones I don't keep are usually built to order such as the Micawber tele.

@@Adventuresfromtheshedofdreams Hi Patrick thanks for your reply. I agree entirely - but cockups are still a pain. 😅 My collection of guitars tends to be governed by my wife! 🤭

Congratulations on a beautifully successful project! What's next? BTW, what price would you sell the guitar for? Or can you put a price on that much effort?
@Adventuresfromtheshedofdreams2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Burt, a new project will be starting next week but I'm keeping it underwraps for now. This particular guitar won't ever be sold for personal reasons and it's hard to put a price on something that has taken so long to do. If I priced it on parts and labour it would be over £10k so pretty much unsellable lol.

Amazing build. How much was the maple to make the body. Thanks.
@Adventuresfromtheshedofdreams2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Michelle, the board the top and back came from was about £120 but I only used half of it. The maple veneer for the ribs was about £15 so around £75 in total.

Thank you so much for getting back to me. I really want to try and make one but a smaller body size. I am just trying to guste how much it will be and if at all possible as it would be make in my kitchen with only hand tools.
