I was trolled buy a female hippowdon for about a year when I was 7. I didn't use it in battle so it never got chance to sparkle. I was watching a video about Pokemon most mistaken for shinies and hippowdon popped up and my heart broke.

Same was playing my pearl game and went to the unlocked area whare hipowdon spawn and ran into my first girl hipowdon I was useing repells to get through the area and this was the one time it wore off so I thought it was a shiny so I caught it I was wondering if my game was buged since it didn't sparkle but I caught it anyways then I learned what girl hipowdon looked like.

It happens to me while i'm exploring because my brain just dumps almost all shinies from my brain and since i know there's a handful of shinies that look the same, i'm paranoic i'll lose a shiny just because i didn't check if it was

@@MushyRoom77 Hopefully you've found it by now but if not, the old trick is to make a ghost power sandwich (encounter power at whatever level you feel like), and then go to Area Zero when it's daytime (you'd have to check the time of day outside the crater cuz it doesn't visibly change in Area Zero). Flutter Mane doesn't spawn during the day, but with encounter power ghost nothing else will really spawn. Shiny Flutter Mane can still spawn during the day, so that's your best bet. I did that and got three of em, so hopefully this helps (and made sense)?

The opposite almost happened to me at one point. I almost mistook a shiny slowpoke for a normal one because I was eating pizza. But then I noticed the subtle color difference. Fortunately he evolved into a beautiful purple Slowbro who is my favorite. I named him Shinypoke because I was lazy.

That's why I hate water in Paldea, just water, not necessarily for shiny hunting but being in water in Paldea just feels so bad... I was a fan of swimming in Hisui, and I still love it, physics should've stayed the same (maybe it's cause I ride a Basculegion in Hisui and a Miraidon in Paldea!)

The lighting bugs made a Slowbro I saw look Shiny, had a Purple Body and Gold Tail, then I entered battle and it became normal.

My prized greninja (named giratina) does this to me WAY too much. He hatched with a bit of a glitched model, and his eyes are always in -.- format. It doesn't matter if he's sleeping, awake, playing, being bathed, etc, he only opens his eyes during specific battle sequences (such as being terra'd or sending out) and immediately goes back to his usual expression. He also outright refuses to fight certain Pokémon for no reason when his health is full and there's a clear accessible path. I have to switch out who auto battles to check because he just won't fight. He's my blind son, and level 90 something now. Originally I bred him shiny hunting, but when I saw his goofed up model, I decided he's worth my team, and I kept him. I tried breeding him to my japanese ditto for shiny roulette (all his kids inherited the goofed model, if you have a -.- greninja from wonder trade with OT vix, it's one of giratina's kids!) but now I genuinely don't think I have it in me to replace him with a shiny even if I do hatch one. Shiny roulette is mostly eevee, hisuian zorua, and cyclizar now

I looked at the sun a while back and afterwards I decided to hunt in the ruby Safari zone first area so I started hunting for girafarig shiny. I kept thinking I found one for a split second but it was just a side effect from accidentally looking at the sun. OMFG I HATE having outbreaks on the water. Not only the itty bitty fuuu-fish! itty bitty fish! are hard to see as is, let alone a color change, BUT THE SLOW DOWN I GET FROM HAVING ANY LICK OF WATER IN MY CAMERA VIEW ON S/V IS HORRIBLE!!!!
