Shiny Shuckle has been available in Pokemon GO for a few months by now. I didn‘t get to encounter any myself but I traded for one twice. I named one „Tekking101“ and the other one „Tekking1001“.

I have never encountered(if I did I would never know because back then I never knew they existed) a shiny in all my years of playing Pokémon I played all the way up to x and y but I have yet to play the sapphire and ruby remasters or the sun and moon or even the go game things

Mine was in Pearl. It was a Shiny Graveler in the Iron Island. I remember trying to catch and not succeding but I can't remember the exact reason. In that cave Gravelers know Selfdestruct, but I remember throwing many balls at it so who knows. I could have run out of balls. I remember not being too sad about it though.

my first shiny was an ursaring and it was the first ursaring I ever encountered(on pokemon crystal). I didnt know what shinies were, I didnt know that it looked different untill I encountered another one, saw that its colors were different and I caught that one instead. So, I caught a regular ursaring instead of a shiny one, because I thought the shiny one was the regular one. Story kinda repeats 3 gens later as I encounter a shiny Druddigon(first time encountering a Druddigon too), since I played without sound due to the lack of headphones and me not looking to see the sparkle and not knowing what a Druddigon looked like. I just caught it because I thought it looked cool and needed a dragon pokemon. Then I encountered a second Druddigon, thinking it was shiny, accidentally using toxic instead of false swipe and almost crying since I would have killed the second shiny pokemon I ever encountered(not counting the red gyarados in gen 2 and their remakes). Then after a moment of defeat, I just go and hunt on and encounter another druddigon that is the same color, then I realized that the first one I caught was in fact a shiny.

Espeon is my least favourite Eeeveelution. Umbreon looks WAY better! Espeon DOES have a nice colour as a shiny though. Personally, I don‘t really care about Eevee or its evolutions but if I had to pick favourites, it‘d be Sylveon (It has a good shiny.), Umbreon (It has a good shiny.), Jolteon (It has decent shiny.) and Flareon (It‘s boring as a shiny.). Vaporeon looks alright but something about it just doesn‘t feel right (It also has a bad shiny.) As for Leafeon and Glaceon...The designs are bad and the shinies are boring.

When I found a shiny for the first time in Sapphire, it was a Golbat. I told all my friends that I found a green Golbat with stars around it but no one believed me. They were all too interested in the rumour that one could travel to space in the Hoenn games after beating the league 255 times. That's a rumour I remember to this day.

Here's my "Oblivious to Shinies" story: I was playing LeafGreen on my Gameboy Advance SP (it's important later) and I was in the Safari Zone. I was running around not looking for anything in particular when I came across a weird Oddish (an 'odd' Oddish, if you will). It slid across the screen and when it was illuminated across the battlefield from me, I noticed it's body was green instead of its normal blue. Then a weird starry pattern circled it... Hm... Despite not knowing what it meant, I decided to try to catch it anyway. And for anyone who doesn't know, the Safari Zone doesn't work like regular wild battles. It's just you, the enemy Pokemon, and your balls. Safari Balls. (And bait.) (And rocks.) If you don't catch the Pokemon, it'll pop out of the ball and it has the chance to RUN AWAY from the battle. DESPITE the odds against me, I CAUGHT the green Oddish! I looked at it in the box and sure enough it was green. It even had a little star icon on the box menu. Just after I left the Safari Zone, I was called downstairs for dinner. I made sure to exit the Safari Zone, closed my Gameboy Advance SP, and went downstairs. Only... I didn't save my game. And as anyone who's had a Gameboy Advance SP knows, closing it doesn't turn off the game, but it doesn't suspend it either. So while I was downstairs with my family, I had put my entire game - my green Oddish - on a timer. The batteries were slowly draining away, and I had no idea. I came back upstairs and realized my Gameboy was dark, the batteries dead. Clueless to what I'd lost, I simply plugged it into the wall and went to sleep. It wasn't until THE VERY NEXT DAY at my friend's house that I realized what I'd done. He couldn't wait to boot up his copy of Pokemon Emerald to show me his brand new, blue and orange Flygon he spent the entire night raising from a Trapinch. I told him what had happened with my green Oddish and he stared at me in dismay, later telling me just how rare it was. We were both pretty upset. Aw well.

That is an awesome story, man! I really feel you. I had a similar thing happen to me in sapphire. I encountered a shiny lunatone in the battle tower and was like "wow, look, that thing has blue eyes". I didn't know about shinies back then. Years later, when playing diamond, I suddenly realised what I had seen back then! I'm just glad I could not have caught it anyways, otherwise I would be hating myself so badly!

I played Pokemon up to Gen 5 and I've only ever seen one shiny. It was a shiny rattata a while ago when I decided to replay through Pokemon Firered. Route 1 from Pallet Town to Viridian City. I walked through the grass to get to Viridian city to fulfill Professor Oaks request at the beginning of the game, and I saw him, a shiny rattata. I was so excited! My first shiny! I got him down to low health with my charmander, I open my bag, and guess what? This was the point in the game before you're even able to have pokeballs.....saddest day of my life. He was mere xp.......Tekking hear my woes.

One memory I have of Pokemon gold was beating it in 1999, that experience taught me that you can beat the game even if every bit of text is scrambled. It was before it was released in the US but I had gotten a rom but the kanji didn't play nice with the emulator (though I can't read Kanji anyway) so many parts were just "..." I got to the point where I knew which menu item was attack and which attack was good. That was quite an experience. I did later get a translated rom and eventually bought the game when it came out, though beating it with all scrambled text was something I won't forget.

I have a similar story Tekking. On my original copy of Pokemon Crystal (which I lost unfortunately),during my first playthrough I got to the daycare where the old man gives you a pokemon egg. My egg hatched into a shiny igglybuff. I too didnt know what shinies were and had never seen igglybuff so I didnt know it was different colored. I just knew that sometimes wild pokemon would run from it when I sent it to battle. It still didnt connect the dots when i got the Red Gyrados either.

I still remember the first time I caught a shiny pokemon. It was in gen 4, during a computer programming class, during a lecture by the teacher. My friends and I were real geeks back then and already knew the stuff we were being taught, so we instead were playing Diamond and Pearl. We'd spend classes looking for each others secret bases, messing around in the underground, or just exploring the world. I don't remember all the details now, but either I was heading to Snowpoint City for the first time, or I was just passing through the area for some reason, but I was just walking through some grass when a Shiny Sneasel appeared. I remember just standing up in the middle of class shouting 'A shiny!' and my friends and I were just crowded around my game, staring at the pink and gold pokemon. At the time I didn't even pay attention to how the class or teacher responded, but I imagine they were probably staring. My teacher in that class was pretty chill though and didn't really care, which is probably why we were allowed to play our games in the first place. Anyway, we quieted down after that and were just in awe over the first shiny any of us had ever encountered in the wild. I caught that Shiny Sneasel. And to this day it's been a part of every pokemon journey I've done, always being ported to the next game to continue my journey with me. It has a special place in my heart because I didn't farm for it, I didn't trade for it, it was just a genuine random encounter. I'm actually really sad that pokemon is moving to the Switch now, since I think this will be the first time in 13 years that my Shiny Sneasel (now a lvl 100 Weavile) won't be making the journey with me. Maybe they'll be cool and let pokebank work with the switch, but I'm not holding my breath.

When I was a kid, I didn't understand the "training" aspect of Pokemon very well, so by the time I'd end up at the Pokemon League, I'd have like... a level 70 starter and the rest of my team would be in the 40s (or whatever the levels were on Victory Road). I'd somehow manage to beat the Elite 4 and Champion with my one level 70 starter and that's about it. Finding my old games and looking at my teams is such a trip.

I'm just a couple years older dear Tekking, but we all have our own Pokemon legendary story. The rumor on our playground was that you could get a BLUE PIKACHU if you went to the area where the SS Anne was and followed certain tasks. Tried for hours, the so called blue Pikachu was just Marill, and people were just reading the new Pokemon into the current game. I did spend hours upon hours breeding a Shiny 6 IV Sandile, finally got it after some ridiculous amount of time. But man he's my favorite and I still have the cart with him.

Let me tell you about Emi. (This is gonna be a long one, strap yourself in.) Emi is my Sylveon from X / Y. I fell in love with Sylveon's design, the Pokedex description (it uses it's ribbons to hold hand with you as you walk, it's so cute!), etc. I even did that admittedly weird Pokemon Amie minigame and rasied her to maximum friendship. So I make it past the Elite 4, I'm looking around for rare Pokemon or Pokemon I'd yet to catch. I make my way to Terminus Cave, and make it all the way down to good ol Zygarde. Now, not one to 'wuss out' I decided I'd try to catch it with just ultra balls. Most of my team was either on par with Zygarde's level or just under it by one or a few. So as time goes on, I get pretty unlucky. My Pokemon were fainting one by one, slowly but surely as my stack of Ultra balls steadily declined. Then it came down to Emi. Emi is a Fairy type, so I figure she can survive well enough against Zygarde. However, in recent gens they've made the AI for opponents a little smarter than before. Instead of using it's Dragon move, it instead went for Crunch. So I'm switching between throwing my dwindling Ultra Balls and healing Emi with my Full Restores. Then it started using Earthquake. It was dang near one shotting Emi, and I was almost out of both Ultra Balls and Full Restores. So it comes down to the wire, I decide I'm just going to throw Poke Balls. I saved, what happens happens. Throw ball, no dice, EQ 1, still alive. Throw ball, EQ 2, I am certain Emi will go down. But then a message appeared I'd never seen before. 'Emi toughed it out to show it's best side to Kyria!' 1. Hp. ONE. H. P. I grabbed my phone of the time and quickly googled what in the hell was going on. Turns out, Pokemon Amie has in game effects based on affection level. Like surviving at one HP when it would otherwise faint. A tear came to my eye. It was one of those moments you can have with a beloved franchise like Pokemon. So I threw that last ball, knowing how unlikely it would be for Emi to pull that off again. Shakes once, shakes twice... it comes out! I sigh, and just let the attack come. No need to reset, just let it happen. I see the Earthquake. 'Emi read Kyria's mind and avoided the move!' I was in absolute shock. I couldn't believe it, two Amie effects one turn after the other? No wonder it wasn't allowed in online battles. I thanked Emi for pulling through, for holding on for this long. I threw one more Ultra ball. Shake, shake, shake... Captured! Zygarde was mine! I quickly saved and Escape Roped out to get to a Pokemon Center and heal up my team. Since then, I've kept Emi and that Zygarde in Sun and Moon and plan to keep them for as long as I can. In commemoration of the time Emi, my sweet little pink eveelution with little ribbons, fought face to face with the World Serpent and did not yield.

my first shiny is a pretty cool storey, my friend and i switched each other games for a week and he caught a shiny voltorb on my game and i caught a shiny shoormish on his. Both in the same week we found our first shinys on each other's games. And we freaked out when we gave the games back to each other
