Well I learned a ton. Managed to squeeze an hour podcast into 3 hrs of note taking… At the 57:50 mark, Dr. Melillo basically described me w/o exception, so there’s that. Also, this absolutely alters how I will speak to my clients about ADHD. I had previously conceptualized the inattentive type 1 as more of internal hyperactivity (w/o an understanding of the neuroscience). I love being able to give my families clarity and understanding. And AND as my clinic identifies as neurodiversity-affirming, we have recently found the tug of growth and acceptance or affirmation. I distinctly appreciate you guys stepping into that territory.

What are some ways you stimulate thr right brain and quiet the left or stimulate the left brain and quiet the right without medication?

Mmm i'm not sure if you cover it in other epodes, but i don't think all kids with these issues are necessarily 'gifted' but that there are things causing these brain disruptions

I am working with my child who is 13 yo. After reading the book "Disconnected Kids" and listening to this podcast gives me hope, but often I get confused as my child exhibits a lot of issues like he is hyperactive, oppositional, no guilt or shame but is also very good at remembering details , he is very good at art, and his handwriting is also very good, so when I am working on his right brain after the assessments from the book, that he has a right brain delay, I hope I am not going wrong anywhere, also it's very difficult to manage his hitting and teasing behaviour so he is on medication too, so will that affect or slow down his right brain catching up? I hope my queries get answered in one of your podcast or here.

Very interesting info. Listening to the differences between the 2 hemispheres (type 1 ADD and type 2/3 ADHD) my son doesn't neatly fit into either category. He mostly has all the characteristics you described for type 1 ADD, except that his motor abilities are extremely poor. Now I'm unsure of which side he's deficit in. Any advice?

You, a chiropractor, should not correct others when you have the terminology wrong yourself. For several reasons we are not talking about "type" anymore! For years it has been "presentation" and not "type." But of course when you are not a part of it... you have got it wrong, man!
