It was great that my doctor recommended keto diet to me in 2019 and I have been able to control my pre-diabetic condition + exercise. So far I am still healthy and taking only vitamins and no meds at the age of 61 years old. God blesses those keto-friendly doctors to help people stay off meds as long as possible.

So Amazing! Wonderful Doctors!!! So Awesome! Thank you very very much!!! 👏 👏👏 I started on my own in 2020 when my doctor was going to put me on insulin and I did vegan for a short time and the fruit really made my feet burn and that was because my insulin was too high so I went to low-carb in 2020 and in six months my A1c went from 6.8 to 5.7 and then I went carnivore in August 30, 2023 and now my A1c is 5.6 and my arthritis went away and no longer on diabetic medication and my husband also got off insulin after 2 1/2 months on carnivore, but he also did low-carb with me for four years and we tried to stay under 50 carbs a day, but some days were up to 80. Very very thankful for the doctors and people who have studied this and are teaching this on KZbin and I watched the KZbin channel “beat diabetes” by Dennis Pollock, a KZbinr, who also gives you an actual diet you can follow and reverse your diabetes in 3 to 6 months eating a low carb diet almost keto. ❤🎉❤

What a great conversation! Having switched from vegetarian to carnivore to resolve early insulin resistance (marked by weight gain, difficulty losing weight, Hgb A1c 5.5), I have wondered how strict vegetarians and vegans resolve this problem. I have some hope now of being able to reintroduce some carbs into my diet at some point. Thank you for the reminder of how important sleep and meditation are to solving this problem.

thank you! just to specify, we don't insist on vegetarian, vegan or carnivore. We support all nutrition preferences, and help our patients achieve their protein goals in whatever way works for them long term.

Great conversation. I wish more providers were open minded enough to not be so willing to just push meds at people. Sure, if the patient is not willing to adjust their diet, meds are appropriate. However, meds should not be the first thought for correcting all health conditions.

Thank you, Dr Westman and Dr Sanghani. I wish you'd put the name of the book *Turn Around Diabetes* in the video description, and perhaps Dr Sanghani might have held up a copy so we could see it. Fortunately, I found the name by searching through the video. Also, when an interviewee is talking about Vegetarianism, it would be helpful if you made sure to find out whether they're talking about Veganism (only plants), or Vegetarianism (includes some animal proteins). As I understand it, Vegetarians avoid food sources that depend on the death of an animal (like meat, poultry and seafood) but are ok with eggs and/or dairy. It was confusing to hear Dr Sanghani talking about her Vegetarian patients, but it sounded like they were only getting protein from plant sources. Thanks again for the interesting information.

Thank you for your suggestions! In India the definition of vegetarian is different than what might be considered vegetarian in the US. I explain the different types of vegetarianism in my book! This is the Amazon link to the book kzbin.info/www/bejne/fHi3oYNrr9igibcsi=hop4LYD2bUdUAx4i

I can't thank the two doctors enough!👍👍👍❤❤❤ Even though I have confidence in carnivore or carnivore adjacent diet, I know it's not practical to have all humans on an animal based diet. If there is a way to be very healthy and in a more balanced diet, I would do that. In a way I wish to eat more plant food. I am in a carnivore diet and appreciate my diet very much. This doctor is helping more people in a very creative way. She is amazing❤❤❤

Just going to mention my personal experience with my life style choices, my whole life i practiced the intermittent fasting and occasionally prolonged fasting up to 72 hours. The benefits i noticed was a strong clarity of the mind, a more acidic body because i would rarely get sick and the benefits of anti aging, im 40 today and ppl still think im 20. But my practice did not protect me forever from the standard american diet and with time i believe i was pre diabetic along with serious kidney issues, kidney stones and pain to the kidney in general when i wasn't passing kidney stones, it felt like something was holding my right kidney tightly and depending how much rest i got for the day it would feel very heavy and painful. So 3 years now i been on the keto diet all my problems are healed and my health is 99\100%
@schpengler2 ай бұрын
I am curious why you believe that your body was more acidic? Homeostasis maintains your pH within a narrow window so you do not die. You cannot change your body’s acidity.
@Whitetrim2 ай бұрын
@schpengler the pH balance does change though or ppl wouldn't so commonly have digestive issues

On my visits to India, with friends born there, found it to be a very interesting place. YES lots of vegetarians (more so than full vegans). Lots of vegetarians that drink goats milk and eat eggs. Many pescó vegetarians so fish and seafood are also included. Just the milk, eggs, and seafood are a sufficient source of protein (covers all the aminos and fats). Beef, chicken, pork are not a requirement in the diet. YES, only about 5 grams of glucose in the blood (exact amount depends on the size of the person), However roughly 300 to 400 grams of glucose in the body (muscle tissue). YES, more than one vector. Sunlight, Sleep, Stress management, Exercise/ resistance training. Building more muscle tissue provides more room and a need for glucose : ) Exercise hard, the glucose gets used to replenish the muscle glycogen. There are people that consume 200 grams a day and still have an Hba1c of 5.2. of course, depending on several factors. Sounds like Dr. Sanghani is doing great work and on the right path while working in a unique culture / population. Yes, their beliefs are very strong. The diet must conform to the health issues as well as the culture or those people would rather follow beliefs first. Been saying this for years, diet must conform to economic status, food available, health status, location of the world, religion, culture,..... ❤

I had both obstructive sleep apnea and central sleep apnea. The former is usually associated with obesity, but as the endocrinologist mentioned, even people with normal BMI can have it. The latter is associated with the central nervous system. Diligent use of the most expensive CPAP machine did address these issues. However, there are several side effects to using the CPAP machine. I found a superior way to address the issue: a combination of a keto diet, SomniFix mouth tape, and an O2ring to continuously monitor SPO2 and alarm if it drops below a critical threshold like 88%. So far the only side effects of this new method have been positive.

So she. Has confirmed, you cannot really be low carb.If you are exclusively vegetarian because you will not get enough protein
@theskyehiker2 ай бұрын
Is she referring to vegan diets or vegetarian diets? Eggs can be a very efficient way to get protein without the attached carbs and is completely compatible with vegetarian diets.

For someone who has been diabetic for twenty years plus, but who is also quite skinny and weak in muscle strength, would injecting insulin for a short period of time be good? My mom’s doctor told us that we can try slow release insulin injection before bed for 3 months, in combination with no-carb breakfast and low-carb lunch/dinner, for her pancreas to recover at night. He is aware of and regards highly Dr Fung’s work and we have been trying to do lower carbs, but still the morning blood sugar is still above 7. I wonder if anyone has similar experience and can eventually get off insulin after short term use?

Doc. Please learn from Dr. Sanghani when she says that her personal diet is low-carb but not keto. Not all low-carb diets can be called Keto. Keto relates to ketones, ketogenic, ketosis, and ketogenesis. I know English is not your strong point, but please focus on the above words and notice the letters Keto in them. There is no k-e-t-o in the word low-carb. You can also learn from Dr. Sanghani (min 29:59 in the video) where she describes how she achieves ketosis in her patients. Please notice that she talks about achieving her goal which is Ketosis. This is very different from your odd Keto diet where you state that ketosis is not a goal of your “prescription” keto diet. If your odd keto diet does not put a person in ketosis, then it’s not Keto for that particular person. Please learn that Ketosis is a metabolic state and not a delusional state of mind.
