I started considering the carnivore diet because I felt terrible after eating carbs, and I noticed I felt better after eating meat. So I did a simple web search comparing the nutritional value of meat as compared to vegetables and which is easier to digest, and not from anyone pushing either diets. The simple truth is meat has more nutritional value than vegetables and is easier to digest. I also noticed that hunger returns much faster when you eat carbs and make you sluggish and tired. I also just now noticed that my memory and cognition is better. And though my weight wasn't an issue, I lost weight. I do eat fruit and vegetables from time to time, so I don't adhere to it strictly, but the benefits are incentive enough for me.

Like the Dr mentioned in the beginning, its mostly about health of digestive action. You begin letting things stay away, means that you can have a healing effect cause of the absence of detrimental factors, but it does not mean that you cannot get side effects through the meat eating diet itself if you run it long time. Take for example the attribute of meat to rot in combination with heat, a lot of time cooling is supposed to be not broken cause of the sensitivity of meat. For humans It takes about 36 hours for food to move through the entire colon. For meat eating species like cats for example it is just a one digit number of hours cause their colon is much shorter. Its not a bad idea to do these diets under supervision of medical personal to see if your liver or other system relevant things are influenced.

I'm 75. After going keto in 2020, I switched to a strict lion carnivore diet in 2022. Zero carb healed my body, mind, and my life, but I found I just needed some variety to break the monotony of eating a steak at every meal. A few months ago, I added back eggs, bacon, lamb, seafood, butter, some cheeses, and sour cream. I've also added back one or two avocados a week, plus I now make keto dishes like ribeye and lamb chili (2 medium organic tomatoes, 1 tablespoon of chili powder) and Swedish meatballs. I will occasionally have some blueberries. I have not noticed any changes in my body, nor have I gained any weight. I'm still 95% carnivore, with keto foods for variety. ** Edited ** as far as the other content creators go, most don't have enough brains to fill a thimble.

Following Dr. Westman’s way of doing keto healed me enough to go from bedridden to farming. A side benefit was that I also lost 96 pounds. Most people told me, “Of course you got better, you lost weight.” But I got better BEFORE I lost the weight. And I was not able to exercise because of the inflammation in my back, hips and knees. I couldn’t even put on my own shoes and socks! I have been eating a keto diet for eight years now. I’m still a farmer, not bedridden and I can put on my own shoes and socks. I can even wash the BOTTOMS of my feet in the shower! My father died of a heart attack at 58. My mother had suffered multiple strikes and heart attacks by my age of 69 and died at 72 from complications of diabetes. Both parents were diabetic. I was pre-diabetic when I started keto. Today I have never had a heart attack or stroke and I am not diabetic nor ore-diabetic. I take no prescriptions.

“Stupid is as stupid does”, as Forrest Gump would say. See, at age 84, I was fed up with the inability to lose weight (175 cm/100 kg). The doctor told me that I was tested as pre-diabetic and prescribed metformin and statins. (Never took his advice.) I also had a few small skin wounds that never healed, and so on. After 12 months on keto, my pre-diabetes has gone (A1c 5.1), I lost 25 pounds, my wounds started to heal, I stopped using blood pressure pills, no more early morning sweats, no more strange pain in my stomach or knee, my skin on arms and hands started losing those old spots, no more foggy mind, after bathing no need for a daily deodorant... etc. The first day I started keto, I joined a gym. Exercising every second day with no excuses. Now at 86, I am a new person able to lift heavy weights, walk miles, and feel great. My blood pressure is around 115/65, and my heartbeat is between 58-66. Since childhood, I have been told about a blockage in my heart. I have never been able to sprint or play soccer like the other kids. But those new gym exercises apparently opened new blood pathways, and thus, my heart now works fine. All of that was done in moderation while adjusting to the gym exercises and outdoor walking. My thanks to Dr. Berry, Dr. Cywes, Dr. Westman, and many more.

My path to obesity started when an employer, a vegan, forbade animal products in the building. I tried vegetarian. Over the next three years I gained 50 lbs due to excess carbs. And my weight increased from there (another 50 lbs) as we followed the food pyramid after leaving that employer. Since switching to keto/low carb/mod protein/healthy fats, and stopping all pre-diabetes meds 13 months ago, I've lost 40 lbs and my blood glucose is better than on the meds. I would love to do an interview with you some time Dr. Westman. I am a keto/carnivore for over 6 years. I was completely carnivore for about 8 months and today I am mostly carnivore, but I have 5-10 percent veggies. I lost over 200 lbs, I am no longer diabetic, many problems healed. Last year I had a stroke. A pretty severe experience. My systolic shot up to 310. They got my BP down with meds and gave me the clot buster, but I was blind and I couldn't walk afterwards. They did an MRI and I had 4-5 previous strokes I didn't know about. They kept wanting to put me on a Statin, but I wouldn't take it, because I know cholesterol is an Important and necessary. And my brain needs it to form new neurogenic pathways, and statins cross the blood brain barrier. My LDL was 121 two days after my stroke when I was still mostly blind and could get 4-5 steps in a walker, but normally it is around 105-110. Well I went a little more keto for a while and had some salads, but still ate a LOT of meat and 3 months later, after much physical therapy, I could see, walk, and drive, and I went back to work. I have since had all the heart tests, ultra-sounds of my heart and neck, cat-scans of nearly everything, and a CTA scan. They showed I have NO blockages of any kind in any of my arteries. My High BP was pulmonary (something about the right side and left side of the heart). It is different than normal high BP, and they have started me on a medication for that. I am 50 years old and was a severe diabetic for years. I was on over 300 units of insulin per day and still was having A1C's in the 14's. Today the only thing I fight with is BP. I am going to try to loose some more weight and see if that helps it further, but really life is good. I feel better today after 5-6 strokes than I did when 200 lbs ago when I was diabetic as heck. I get up early and do things all day long then I eat in the evenings watch a little KZbin and go to sleep about 6-7 hours and do it all over again when the sun comes back up. I have fun with my family. I go on walks for miles and miles. I have discovered I love roller coasters and we are always going on trips to places to ride them.

I was strict carnivore for 5 years. Worst mistake of my life. I felt fantastic, I mean awesome, for 4 years. Then the bottom fell out. I began feeling tired and drank more coffee to compensate (but never more than 2 cups a day). Then my gut blew up. I had severe gut inflammation for 3 days, felt like I was going to die. I was gaining weight back, blood sugar was climbing. Then I had full blown leaky gut. Massive cortisol and insomnia due to the stress my body was under. That lead to adrenal fatigue. If you don't know what adrenal fatigue is, it's what causes fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. It will stop you cold. It's been 2 years since I stopped being carnivore, and I'm still battling to get healthy. I had to stop working, stop all exercise, basically my life came to an utter standstill. Why? Because carnivore is ZERO FIBER. Your gut microbes live exclusively off of fiber. No fiber and goodbye gut health, good bye health. I feel fortunate to be alive. I healed and sealed my gut with the GAPS intro diet, plus 1/2 cup beans 3x a day, and am eating a ton of fermented foods, kefir, and yogurt--all homemade from organic sources, store bought is crap and doesn't do the job of rebuilding the gut microbiome. For those that say, "Well it didn't work for you, that's YOU." That's like saying "Well, some people need oxygen, some don't." We all have microbiomes, and they all need fiber. And not the kind from grains. Educate yourself. And for those that say "You didn't do carnivore right, etc. etc." Wrong. I did it exactly the way the BS carnivore gurus say to do it. And it ruined my health. I say all of this in hopes of helping others avoid the hellish nightmare I'm still going through, 2 years after quitting carnivore. And no, I didn’t take the depop shot.

I'm at year 5 and after the initial 90 days of beef only, I did a few experiments with eggs, cheese, butter. Butter has worked best. Today I am eating only raw beef and it has been great. No more electrolyte problems that I had when I was cooking the meat. Now I don't waste energy on cooking, I just rinse it off and then slice it up. If I am delivered bones, I spoon out the marrow and eat it cold. If liver, I just eat it raw. No need to cook any of it and you lose the urge to salt it, so I have all these beautiful salts, but because there are no muscle cramps anymore, I haven't needed them for months now. I hear what you are saying about fiber, but the cows can actually digest that stuff, humans cannot. And while you can have tons of bacteria in your gut, I see no reason to have bacteria there for plants if I am only eating meat. I think you probably ran into another problem unrelated to eating meat. Good luck with your journey. I prefer a zero carb because it has no impact on my dental health. If you put carbs in your mouth, you will have to deal with dental decay. I prefer beef only because it's clearly the most energy dense food we can consume and that just makes sense to eat once a day and then fast for 23 hours, or longer as your case may be. Now that I know I can eat it raw, and not waste energy in cooking or preparation and I'm probably getting a better dose of bacteria from the cow and the living flesh, I figure there is really no reason to consider carbs in the form of fiber or sugar because they have no nutritional value. Only the fat and water in the meat carry vitamins. And as I was saying before, the minerals seem to stay in balance for significant periods of time if eating raw - months without sugar and no twitching, no cramping, etc. It's just a more efficient diet from from every perspective. Even the idea that the cows get to live because I'm not taking lots of their land and asking for pristine fruits and veggies at the supermarket sets well with me. I prefer to feed those to the cows, let them have babies and give milk, and then when they are old, I'll eat them. That supports more life as far as I can tell and I don't even eat a whole cow a year, so it's not a burden on anybody...
@lorcansnow2111Ай бұрын

You aren't as hungry in ketosis because it down regulates the metabolism (it's a survival mode to keep you from starving to death), the exact opposite of thriving. Notice most carnivore gurus are eating only one meal a day now, that's why. Your knee issues etc are related to plants, seeds/nuts, grains and polyunsaturated fats. @@PaulBengtsson seems Like most carnivore dieters end up sick. It's a lot easier to be plant based or mostly plant based..and healthier too. There are no studies showing a carnivore diet is a healthy diet. And comparing it to a processed, junk food diet isn't saying much. Greens, nuts, berries and legumes are all healthy and should be a mainstay in people's diets. Coffee and tea are amazing too. As are spices. All are healthier than any meat on an individual level. The only positive thing about meat is it's a concentrated source of protein and maybe iron, but both are easily replaceable.

I'm down 100lbs, within 10lbs of my ideal weight, off 2 BP meds, no longer pre-diabetic, no more sleep apnea, acid reflux, no more arthritis pain, and more energy than I've had in 20 years. I'm now strength training again for the first time in 4 decades. My wife has reversed fatty liver, T2 diabetes, fibromyalgia, arthritis, and more. I'm never going back to the Standard American Diet. We may have a keto friendly treat or even completely deviate from low carb on occasion but never more than 2 consecutive days or meals and we've had great success. Rarely hungry, no cravings, and only need to eat one or 2 meals daily. I wish I had started this sooner and I share my success with as many as I can. Do I have cramps and a need for electrolytes, absolutely, but it's an easy problem to solve with supplementation of electrolytes. I don't know who some of the of the folks in the video are other than Thomas DeLauer but I stopped following him many months ago when he started changing his story and following Dr Paul Saladino. I do think Dr Saladino and Thomas offer some useful content but it will easily confuse folks that aren't well grounded in what they are doing.

I was over 400lbs at 20 years old following doctors and the like; in the gym 3-5 days a week and eating low fat. When I became a T1 diabetic at the age of 45, shortly after a flu shot I was about 350lbs, have had minor success with Atkins protocol. While in the hospital with ketoacidosis I started down the rabbit hole. Started with Dr. Bernstein and saw a PBS special with Dr. Hyman. The eating real food with one ingredient worked to lower the amount of insulin I required, improved my A1C and lost some weight. Over the next two years, I transitioned from Paleo to Keto to Carnivore to Raw Carnivore. Each step improved all my health markers including losing weight. From literally 100's of units of insulin per day on the "recommended diet for T1's" on raw I was down to four units of long and no rapid. The raw had so little variety that I am 95% carnivore with some keto items and use around 10 units of long per day and rapid as required (0-10/day), while maintaining a normal blood sugar level of 4.5-6. The biggest changes came from dropping dairy; 30lbs in 22 days and medical cannabis, from it's ability to repair your liver. I am now hovering around 160lbs, eat pretty much whatever I want, when I want. After 10k hours spent on research and experimenting, testing blood sugar 12-20 times per day to see how eating and activity would change my numbers, there are far too many doctors and researchers to name here, but the one everyone should be familiar with is is Dr. Joseph Kraft. Last, from 400+lbs to a 160lbs I did zero exercise. After my wasted teenage years in gyms with no results I wanted to see that the diet protocol alone was successful. And as it turns out it has been.

The clinical experience. Seeing what patients do and checking their results, their labs, how they feel is exactly right! Dr Westman is correct because he can see first hand what works and what doesn’t. As an obesity doc I see 100 patients a week and I see their labs their calcium scans, I see people that have heart disease and I look and see their labs and what happens to them on the low carb and keto diets and their lives and health get better on low carb and applying things Dr Westman teaches, and I have all their data at my fingertips in the electronic record and patients everyday thanking me for changing their life. When you see those patterns of what works and what doesn’t and how people’s metabolic syndrome labs correlate you cannot unsee it.
