Sten you should look into Ted Naiman. You will be blown away at the holistic view of diet he has without taking any extremes as high fat or low fat or high protein or low protein. We need them all in different situations and not become a cult which keto is becoming. Fat doesnt spike insulin immediately but hours later it will have an affect. Dawn phenomenon is a great example of that. Gluconeogenesis happens from fat more often than from protein. Insulin has a higher latency as you go from carbs to protein then to fat. You're right about excess because its more harmful to have excess with fat than with carbs in the long run because fat has twice as much calories. The truth as Ted Naiman says is the need for satiety. The most satiating food is food that has a 1:1 protein grams to energy grams (preferably fat) to have proper satiety. If you increase the fat/carbs your going into the energy toxicity zone. If you increase protein you will gain lean muscle weight especially of you exercise. We are mostly protein and eating mostly protein will maintain our proper muscular body composition. If you want to maintain weight than you eat 1:1 as mentioned above as weight/muscle maintainance. Another point is high fat or high carb or both of those together cause a dopaminergic pleasurable addictive feedback loop which will cause overeating. I am example of someone who can overeat fat and it doesn't make me full as other people. I have genetic testing to back this up CD36 rs1761667(A;G) Slight decreased ability to taste fat. All of this MUST be accompanied by the ancestral practice of feeding and fasting. Feeding less of the time fasting more. Metabolic flexibilty is the goal. Using fat and carbs for fuel with out energy overload. Pick a fuel source and use it but if you use a different fuel remove or lower the other fuel. A car cant run on diesel and gas at the same time. Our body is similar. Protein, minerals and vitamins combined with essential fats provide the most satiety. If youre satiated you will trigger the hormone leptin and you wont overeat. Our body is made by God. We have a purpose of existence. Every building has a builder. Every organism has an originator. Our ancestors believed in God even though they fought and perverted the truth of God with their own biases. Same thing happens in everything else, people are pros at turning truth into a biased cult extreme.. God bless you Stem, to follow the truth wherever it will lead even if its leads us away from our biases. Thanks for your efforts.

Hi Sten. Interesting and educational video as usual. Now I just wonder, what do you say about dairy products, milk, yogurt and (Svensk filmjölk)? You don't mention cheese either. Cheese is man-made.

Hello doctor, I have a question about #7. Low fat camp argue that insulin resistance is not about refusal to storing fat in the fat cells(adipose) but it is the inability of intramyocellular cells to accept fat for energy. I believe the first because there is a limit on how the fat cells will grow. However, the low fat camp has also a valid reason. If the muscle tissue is resistant to fat, then, it cannot use fat for energy.

Great videos! Not sure that I agree with you on living 6 months on stored fat. The TV show Alone is a great experiment on survival with no fat sources. I realize the show is likely rigged, but in general, it appears that a 200lb guy even with protein available, after 30 days, most men are pretty much done for. Women appear to do a little better. I'm not intending this comment to be a scientific argument but I am interested in hearing any comments you may have on the outcomes of those survival shows.

I've been doing keto for 2 years and until watching this video had no idea how or why it works. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes 3 years ago and weighed 252. After discovering keto I dropped to 187. I love the foods I eat now but still sin once a month and have fast food. I'm 69 and feel like I can live to 100 eating keto!!

Dr. Ekberg, you tell the truth down to 158 pounds since September. Starting weight 223. I followed a low carb higher fat diet along with intermittent fasting it worked for me tremendously. I have the energy that I could only compare to my early thirties. People I work with, especially the overweight ones ask me how I lost the weight and when I tell them that I cut out the sugars the grains the fast food the snacking and only eat one meal a day some but not all of them look at me like I’m crazy. But I know it worked for me. Thank you dr.

I do OMAD, walk about 3 miles a day (avg) and only eat eggs, cheese, avocado, mushroom, tomato, salad, leafy veg, ham, chicken and steak; and only use butter and extra virgin olive oil. Thank you for your wonderful insight. I am 60 and now feel 40. Best wishes from the UK.

@@poobearsbeautifulgoddess2416 I think Dr. Ken Berry is in it for the money. He lost his medical licence for unethical reasons, so without the medical licence he does not have an income. The other doctors on KZbin have a business outside of KZbin. Dr. Berg doesn't practice anymore, but the rest of the doctors like Dr. Ekberg do. Then Dr. Berry's office and second home mysteriously burned down one after another. I am not saying he burned them down, but it is hard to not think it when he has a background of unethical actions. He has been asking for money on Patreon since day one, and lately his videos he is just repeating the keyword of the video title over and over with no information.

Dr. Sten Ekberg its good that I found your channel and learned this from you. I made the mistake of trusting the healthcare industry with my life. They never told me that 90% of pre-diabetics develop diabetes after 5 to 10 years on average. They never told me it happens to people between the ages of 45 - 60 on average. They never told me diabetes takes 15 years off your life span on average. They never told me to buy a glucose meter to watch my blood sugar so it doesn’t spin out of control and damage my health. They never told me that americans spend more money on healthcare than any other country but we are the unhealthiest people in the world ($$$). I feel like a sheep that was guided to the slaughterhouse. I dont care if this sounds tin foil hat paranoid crazy. This is what happened and it is continually happening every day. Why ? MONEY

In July 2016 I weighed 242 lbs and had a quintuple bypass. My wife and I switched to keto. Last year, I added intermittent fasting. I'm now 172 lbs and have been off insulin for 2 years (type 2 diabetic). I had a follow up with my cardiologist last week and he enthusiastically praised keto. He also lives a ketogenic lifestyle and said it "is the only diet people should be on". My lipid panels are terrific, I am 64 and my body feels like it did when I was in college (I do 2 to 5 miles/day on my treadmill in the fat burn zone and 1 to 2 rounds/day on my universal gym for toning and building back muscles). My big takeaway from your video is that unburned excess fat intake is stored. Why do other keto educators NOT speak to this? They say "fat satiates so you do not eat as much". Still, if you eat 4000 fat calories in a day and only burn 2000, the excess is stored as fat and you gain weight in a ketogenic lifestyle. Thank you for sharing this most excellent clarification teaching. All the best, Mike

Wow, this was so well done! Great information and so thorough and well explained! Definitely something to share with anyone who is struggling with how to eat a healthy diet. And it really works! I’m in my 50s and struggled with 10-20lbs back and forth my whole life. Since doing Keto and eating low carb/high fat, as well as intermittent fasting, I do not have a weight issue any more. It has totally eliminated my struggle with food. I no longer have cravings, no longer get constantly hungry, and no longer have to constantly think about food. Fat keeps me satisfied and I can just get on with my day and not dwell on food! It’s amazing! So thank you for sharing this for those who don’t know yet. 👍😉

Hello! I love all of your videos and you've saved me from a lot of issues. I know people tell you this all the time. I wanted to thank you for what you do. Clear and concise. I have been on keto since April of 2019 and I was 394lbs. A sudden bout of my very first experience with anxiety happened and I thought I was having a heart attack. Fast forward a few months and I was put on depression meds. Everything else looked fine for my health (thankfully) I was having nephropathy in my feet though, my blood glucose was in the 80s and my A1C was 4.8. So after extensive blood tests we decided to do a Lyme disease and turns out I had it. Though by this time I found out I was already down to 280lbs and I had been fasting every weekend for 48-72 hours for a few months straight. In Dec I stopped fasting, I think me being really low calories made it that much more difficult to fast. Now I am doing carnivore and trying to just eat when I feel hungry and not count calories. (I am 248lbs). I was eating like 1100 calories since April so I probably messed up something. Anyways I am off my depression medication too. I wanted to try prolonged fasting again, I just need to make sure to eat when it is time to eat and not limit myself so much. Anyways sorry for the long winded story. You just inspire me, and I was wondering if you were going to touch on the carnivore diet subject or if you had I probably missed the video.
