Have recently reversed prediabetes by taking out carbs from my diet. My experience was, when I was eating carbs, that's what made me hungry. And fat. My weight didn't really come down until I was fat adapted although I didn't have much to lose (7 kg) as my condition was more stress induced than diet induced. My high blood glucose showed up as unexplained migraines. Getting rid of them was the greatest relief. I got my life back :)

1. Less hunger 2. Less carb cravings 3. No snacks 4. No ravenous hunger 5. Skip meals 6. Fat cravings vs carb cravings 7. Ketone strips 8. No mood swings 9. Energy 10. Mental clarity. BONUS: Taste buds will change Wow! Great to know I am “fat adapted”. I can tell anyway as I have been experiencing the signs in this list for a long time now. Been doing IF for 18 months. Best way to live. I can pass the chocolate, sugar and sweet aisles in a supermarket and not get a craving to pick up a chocolate bar or a snack. IF changed my life. Bad snacking habit wiped out!

This is all so true for me. I used to drink at least 30 Bud Lights a week. I’m not at all proud of that. I was usually only eating one meal a day, but it wasn’t good food. I’ve stopped all the alcohol and embraced Keto. Dr. Ekberg has taught me so much, and I’ve gone from 209 lbs to 193. My goal is 180. Then I’ll weigh what I did when I graduated. Granted I’ve lost muscle mass since I’m 67 years old. Last week I went 3 full consecutive days without eating anything. Just a lot of water and some coffee. I was never hungry during that time. Toward the end, I did start to think of food some, but I know I could have gone another day with relative ease. The only reason I stopped after 3 days was because I got a bit scared, because I was in new territory, so I ate low carb high fat and moderate protein. The next day I did my daily 3 mile walk, and I couldn’t believe the energy I had. It was incredible, I practically wanted to run, but kept it aerobic and finished by walking. I’m proud of the results, knowledge I didn’t have 6 weeks ago, and no more alcohol. I couldn’t have done it without Dr. Ekbergs’ expertise. Thanks Doctor👍👍👍👍👍

Up until I found your page about 3 or 4 months ago I was ready to die. I had already quit all the pills the doctor had me on, wasn’t eating (without realizing this was good for me) & started feeling better for the first time in over 6 yrs. So I started looking to heal myself & that’s when I found you Dr. Ekberg & my life is so much better. At 69 yrs old I thought life was over but I’m actually getting better, even my depression. I’m trying to be patient & I know it’s gonna take time to undo the damage but for the first time in years I have hope. I just want to thank you for giving me the knowledge to heal myself naturally. I live in Michigan so as a senior I’m already leery of the doctors & hospitals. You shared this knowledge free of charge, you can’t even pay a regular doctor for good health advice because all he knows is there’s a pill for that. Thank you Dr. Ekberg for giving me my health back. 😊❤️

But its harder than not eating anything. My brain still shouts for sugar. While I had 4-5 coffees daily with honey before fadtening, now its just sugar free green tea. So boring. But during fasting I lost 50% of my overweight. In top condition I had 74 kg, badly overweight it went up to 105-110 kg. Felt bad, all time tired. I think now I have around 90kg

Plus I always force myself to at least get a walk or light run in. Oddly enough it actually boosts my energy. I definitely have to talk myself into it, by reminding myself that it will be worth it. About those keto strips: I was 192# 2 years ago (age 71). Started keto only because of my high sugar readings. Weight loss was actually unexpected since I had not watched too many videos on the subject and didn't really know what to expect. At 165# a year ago the strips were getting pretty dark and I was delighted. (Cost me some to buy new pants, though.) Now I'm at 148-151# and the keto strips are barely registering. I was worried but this video went some way to clarifying things. Thanks, doc. Now I need to have my wedding band resized - it falls off when I wash my hands. edit: fyi, my a1c went from 8.2 in 2019 to 5.2 last month. I'll never go back.

Been on a high carb diet my entire life. I quit carbs cold turkey and went keto. Didn’t get any keto flu or at any point in time did I get carb cravings. All my friends and family talk about all these side effects they got from keto. I believe that a lot of it comes down to how much they cut their calories when going on keto. I kept my keto calories higher than my high carb diet for the first 2 weeks and I believe this can make people’s experience far more pleasant.

I had company last summer after being on keto for a while, we were out on our front porch after having been down by the river in our yard all morning. So far, we had only had coffee and around 1 pm my adult son came to me and said mom are we gonna eat some lunch, we haven’t eaten anything since dinner last night and I’m starving! I realized, I never thought about meals because I was only eating one meal a day for a while. I had to go and make lunch for everyone! Lol

OH MY GOSH! I have wondered forever why I don't show a high level of ketones on the ketone strips. Thank you Dr. Ekberg for explaining this!!!! I knew I was fat adapted because I had all the signs that I was but I thought the ketone strips would show that. BTW Dr. Ekberg I always loved your content but didn't watch a lot because your videos are a bit longer than other channels. I no longer feel that way. You are BY FAR the best Teacher on KZbin IMHO. You just teach on a level that pretty much anyone can understand. And now that I know "why" I should "eat this way" and "exercise" this way, it keeps me even more motivated to stay the course. To any new viewers out there who just started looking into fasting or intermittent fast and or/keto or just plain health advise? STOP. Look no further. Just watch his videos and learn. And you learn just as much just streaming the KZbin video on audio in your car or just working out or walking or drinking coffee. I have zero affiliation with Dr. Ekberg. I'm just a huge fan. Thanks for all you effort and work Dr.! You deserve every subscriber you have.

Society, culture and food industry marketing tell us it’s time for breakfast, lunch and then dinner. No. That thinking is really external programming and messages coming at us to reinforce eating. Even the food pyramid recommends too many servings of food. When our own individual biology kicks in, it will tell us when to truly eat.

what frustrates me is how easily I can lose my fat adaptation and crave sugar and be always hungry the second I let myself go and indulge in sweets or carb heavy meals for one little day. It seems like it's a daily struggle that will never get easier with time. I never get fat but I certainly look and become heavier whenever I start eating carbs again. My skin gets acne (I am almost 30) and my eyes look old, dark, sunken. I look and feel so much better everytime I stop eating carbs and fast again, but I almost forget how they make me feel and look like, because I am surrounded with people who look and feel great even though they eat carbs like anybody else. Part of me always thinks "if they can, so can I" but no, sugar makes me more miserable than the average person. Also psychologically speaking. Anyway, You have, sir, the best youtube channel I know on nutrition. Seriously I never miss any of your videos! Thank you so much

I've been doing OMAD for 15 months with about 40% of calories from carbs (rice, oats, pasta), yet I can check all the boxes in your video (except no.6; fat cravings) including being able to skip a meal which on OMAD means going for 48 hours without food. I try to enlighten people that once your body gets used to OMAD, it's neither torment nor sacrifice, but liberation.

I am fat adapted now and was before for about five month straight, and all these things are very true! I also love what you said about changing your taste because now, not only sweet things but some processed foods turn off as well. You can change your taste buds! I feel like fat adaption is the most freedom because I can get up and have plenty energy even after running until as late as 1 pm, when waking a 6 am and be fine.

Thank you for the encouragement about consistency! I've got nearly all 10 signs, but have been struggling with the last 2 and I've been struggling with a stall in weight loss at day 25, likely due to PMS. There's a LOT to all this, and it can be hard to stay focused when you feel fatigue and frustration. But it helps to look at the other non-scale victories, like decreased inflammation and bloat!

This is such great information and explained so clearly. I'm on day 3 of my 5-day fast, following your directions and I'm surprised at how smooth it's going. I'm not craving at all and it's very do-able. Next month marks one year of healthy Keto with intermittent fasting (mostly 18 hr fast/6 hr eating). Thank you Dr. Ekberg for sharing this valuable information!

I do mostly 16/8 with a 24 hours once a week, and if I was a good boy , I reward myself with a small 30gr chocolate at the end of the week, but even that needs to follow the rule of, fat =>carbs+prot , so 72% dark ones or a high fat milk ones which I've found at some supermarkets here in UK, and that's enough to keep me happy and take my mind from other carbs.

Me too. Once in a while (3-4 weeks or so) I enjoy a risotto or similar. It is not for the rice and it is not a 'craving', I just miss the flavours and silkyness of a great risotto. So I enjoy it. Do maybe OMAD the day before or after and keep on with my IF. Fortunately, I am never hungry in the morning so IF is easy for me.
