The thing I absolutely hate about this story though I do like Jaylen Brown…an athlete’s academic program is nowhere near as rigorous as a normal student and for good reason. They get many shortcuts, don’t have to take the same number of exams and gets lots of personal assistance especially if they are a star athlete. They generate far too much revenue for the school to become an academic liability, so the school will do everything in their power to make their academic program as easily as possible. This isn’t to take away anything from Jaylen Brown but his 3.9 GPA isn’t the same 3.9 GPA as a normal student. You can be the most average minded star athlete and get a 4.0 GPA in college because the college program will do everything to boost you. So we’re not on the same level playing field. I studied engineering. And I was so angry to learn about a friend who was an athlete got to take far less courses to get the same degree. We’re talking 30% less and he didn’t have to attend all the 3 hour weekly labs for each course. It’s so unfair. They get a speed run of college while we have to do the full curriculum. So please stop putting these athletes on a high horse and misinforming the masses. Athletes aren’t on the same level playing field, they are given significant advantages to succeed. A normal college student would get a 4.0 GPA on an athlete’s curriculum, it’s really nothing amazing.
@mulcogiseng31756 ай бұрын
It is when you are taking graduate level classes as a freshman. Jaylen knew he was one and done so he took the classes that interested him and would advance him intellectually. So you are right. Jaylen's 3.9 isn't the same as a normal student. It is much more advanced. The video mentioned his Bridge Program collaboration with MIT. The Duckboat Parade featured a bus of these students that Jaylen paid the price so they could participate. These kids are our future. Brilliance isn't the only thing these young people share with NASA's original computers. Jaylen knows these kidz will be the driving force of advancement in 20 years. You know, when he is forced to retire because his Secret Service detail thinks it's too dangerous to still be playing a kids game. LOL

@noahkirkwood4416 ай бұрын
@@koobsmooth I'd say above average to be realistic, but his significant level of cognition translates very noticeably to his hobbies that require overall spatial-awareness, problem-analysis/decision-making, and perceptive thinking. Which he has. All translate to what Jalen Brown has either done for years, or initiated as of recent. I am also a firm believer that to most degrees, intelligence can be furthermore developed also, and I believe in the same way as sports to have dedication, the same applies to intellectual prowess. IQ overall doesn't determine much of full-scale intelligence, even though Jalen is very smart, but it rather just focuses on what Jalen excels in to a more than relative degree.
