The Jews asked Jesus if He was the messiah and not if He was God because the God of the Jews is the Father (John 8:39-41). Jesus told them He was the messiah but they didn't believe Him. Something struck me the other day while reading Genesis 18:1-5. The LORD appeared to Abraham.. and then He is described as three men … and as “They” The Holy trinity is already mentioned here but without the word “trinity”. See how God appears but as three. The knowledge of God IS God. Jesus is the Image of God. When we love someone we say we give ourselves completely to that person. Satan can only substitute himself and become your god if he first gets you to believe Jesus is god. He can then be that god, your god, as you have now effectively denied the son. The word "word" in that scripture is "logos" in the Greek... Can you tell me what that word means? I'm betting you can't tell me... And that's why you don't understand what that scripture is saying. I do not believe in the doctrine of the Trinity because I cannot read it in the Bible. It is a doctrine that has to be assembled by humans. Jesus is called the only begotten son of God, so I can believe that. The one true God, (John 17:3) sent his only begotten son into the world to take humanity upon his divinity, and Jesus then referred to himself as the son of man. Divinity clothed with humanity. Jesus is as Devine as his father is Devine in the same way that I am as human as my father was human. There are simply too many theological problems with the doctrine of the Trinity. The terms “Father” and “son” become metaphorical because in the Trinity the Father and the son are both the same age, the son cannot die for us, because God cannot die, etc. I still have to disagree with the Jehovah witnesses though, because their Jesus is a created being and my Jesus is a begotten being. When we apply this second meaning of death to humans, it is therefore the separation of our body from our soul. When God showed up on earth as a man in a body, He then made it possible for Himself to do in the sense that His soul could be separated from His flesh, as seen in Matthew 27:50. Also you gotta understand what “only begotten Son of God” actually means. It does not mean that the Heavenly Father literally procreated in the sense that humans beings do in order to create a son that is different and separate person from Him, rather, it means that just as a son or baby boy bears or carries the same human, limited, finite nature as his biological father, so too does the eternally begotten Son of God bear the exact same nature as the Heavenly Father. This nature being eternal, omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent, all-loving etc. That’s why Jesus being the unique Son of God makes Him divine - one with the Father.

Ok, how can I be as brief with this comment? I got it! 2 questions: 1) What’s MOST important, to believe that Jesus is the Son of God…or God the Son (only 1 answer is correct). Ok, so I feel as I'm being led to say this. I worship God cause. I love him. Not because I have to. There are things in my walk that are more of an obedience than they are of love. Because God said to but I do for God. What I do? Because I get to do it. Because of what jesus did I get to serve the lord! If we love God, it can't just be. Auto beadings, there's gotta be something more there again. I'm not saying we don't do things out of obedience. There needs to be a doing because we love him. There needs to be worshiping because we love him. Cause we get to do it not because we have to do it! We were made for fellowship with the Lord!
