wow. i don't watch the olympics or care for them much but this is absolutely disgusting. athletes getting attacked for speaking out on how the training industry ruined their mental health? there's no point in saying that I've lost faith anymore. I just pray that our world comes to its senses some day.
@jordantrudeau-adams4213
@jordantrudeau-adams4213 2 жыл бұрын
Our world had senses one day and they are becoming more scarce every day with the actions we let our kids, family and friends get away with, with ever changing technology to warp our minds we slowly begin to go with the flow of river afraid to get off and be left behind as they zoom down the rapids in so many different directions that they dont know where they are going or who they are anymore. But the ones who swim ashore and find ground again and take in the reality for what it is and care for themselves without having to compete with others is a humble way of living in my opinion. You still have to survive but in an environment that has less distraction and more direction to the trail you develop.

@@jordantrudeau-adams4213 I get it, you don't like change and you're used to the standards of the olden days, but change is inevitable and we must embrace it. Changing for the better isn't about sacrificing the things we have: it's about enhancing and improving our existing technologies and assets.

I’m a competitive swimmer and my coach would always patronise me and I would have ptsd and when I went to training I was on the verge of a mental breakdown and my heart would beat more than normal. I even had a panic attack or stress attack while doing laps I couldn’t breath or see and I was about to pass out because I was trying to push my body so much just to impress him even though he never was impressed. After I left his group I felt so much better I wasn’t as stressed and turns out I wasn’t the only one who felt that way

@Ema You're very welcome. 💞 Please remember, whenever someone tries to make you feel "less than", that is THEM letting you know they have an issue. No one who is healthy mentally does that! And you certainly don't have to explain why you were hurt when someone did something hurtful to you! You do your very best so you know in your heart you did. Anyone who insults your very best instead of trying to inspire you is simply mean and has issues that they're trying to put on you. You are amazing just the way you are!

This is touching. I’m frustrated that the olympics don’t really touch on mental health. They really should. It’s awful that these people go through this, for what, a medal, a trophy, a certificate of achievement? The Olympics should really focus more on mental and physical health, not winning all the damn time. Now I really do credit Simone Biles and countless others for taking a step back and focusing on their mental and physical health. But in hindsight, Simone Biles and countless other gymnasts were abused by Larry Nassar and USA Gymnastics Covered it up! They should be supportive and should’ve reported/fired him in the first place.

I think your thought here has some merit, but needs to be preceded with. “People should stand behind this athlete due to the attention she brings to the Olympics. Without people like her there wouldn’t be as much interest in the olympics.” I don’t completely agree with this sentiment. I think people would watch no matter what. To cheer on their country. I did watch the track and field portion of Olympics more back when Bolt was running. But I would have still been interested nonetheless. Due to my past running experience in my youth. You do however touch on one of the main problems of Biles thinking. Her thoughts are the same as yours. “Everyone who is watching the Olympics is only watching to see me perform!” That is a big burden! I would agree. It is just simply not true. Most people would still watch if she wasn’t in the Olympics. After she didn’t perform this time around. I still watched the Olympics. Biles just needed to be herself. Not worry about showing up for anyone. Easier said than done for sure!

I was never rrly a soccer fan, but every time I saw them on tv I always thought they were so amazing to be playing professional soccer. But when I was watching them in the Stadium, I kept thinking about how much they looked like regular ppl enjoying a regular game of soccer and not famous players trying to win the Gold Cup. It rrly made me realize that we’re all just humans. No one value is above anyone’s💗

I think you're totally right with this, but I also think that we need to value more the effort that the athletes do in their lives to try to win. Of course they are persons and still have their lives going on, but that's what they have chosen to do, a sacrifice that should be more appreciated, at least in my country, where some sports aren't seen as hard and difficult as they are. But most importantly, let's please keep the culture of effort!

Honestly mental health is not cared all over. I always felt sorry for the athletes and I knew they were going through this. I agree with this message. Suicide is a big thing, but it still not really cared in today's world. Good video

That's why unconditional support is just as important as unconditional love. We're human. We're living beings with thoughts, hopes, dreams, fears and needs. We're not objects. We're not consumer products. The downs are just as much part of us as the ups.
