Nikki made a great point regarding why younger people aren’t getting interested in cars, they no longer see or help dad tinker and repair the family motor on the driveway, I’m sure there’s a lot of truth in that. PS personally I find electric cars about as interesting as a fridge , and formula E unwatchable 🙂

market is crashing, manufacturers are pulling out, and the tech is unstable and disposable. its the sport not one needed, for the product people are rapidly not wanting. And I work(ed) for one of the sponsors of Formula E 😅

Formula E is like Premiership football played in a stadium with no fans. And no goals. All the skills, all the right moves, all the razzmatazz….combined with a singular and breathtaking misunderstanding of what made Formula 1 great. It’s like alcohol-free wine: best to drink a real bottle once a week than a bottle of ersatz vino a day.

I don't get her point of not everyone will be charging at the same time. yes they will as most people will be charging in the evening or overnight at home when its cheapest. I've seen a few formula e races, but the greed of the people running it will now mean I won't watch it anymore. As the price of everything is going up I'm not going to pay extra to watch a 30 minute race that will be on tv every few weeks. Love watching your pod cast by the way

Isn’t the real reason that F E is going to pay view the fact that the viewing figures are so appalling on terrestrial TV they can’t sell any advertising and therefore don’t pay FE for the viewing rights?

Dunno about if a woman will ever get to or properly compete in F1, it is an interesting discussion. The physical side is one thing. The guys train long and hard and were still nearly flaking out mid race last year. A woman is going to have to somehow find the time to train even longer and harder to be at the same physical level if it is even possible. Then on just getting there we are so far away at the moment. You can't just plonk one in F1, you need the superlicence points and you cant get enough of them just doing womens series so you need to get a woman who can beat the guys all the way up. Chadwick looked like a god in the womens series but was pretty much dead last in Indy NXT against the lads last year and that is nowhere near as competitive as the normal F1 feeder series. You say how shit Latifi was but even he finished the F2 championship in the top 10 3 times peaking at 2nd, with numerous race wins. There are some women doing well in other motorsports like Iron Dames in endurance racing and some drag racing so there are definitely series where they can compete, just not sure about Formula series. Maybe it is just a numbers game and we have to wait for Maxine Verstappen to come along.

i watched formula E when it started. i figured that this is what the future is going to sound like. then i saw the format was really shit. they had to swap cars half way. and street tracks are really shit to watch. pretty much every overtake is a dirty dive. but what made me stop watching was that format never embraced innovation. i wanted to see a race where 1 team could swap out batteries, another will do a recharge, another swap cars. different ways to go around a track within some sort of energy/money/time limit. but the regulations forced everyone to do the same stupid way. fuck that. gave up
