As the salesperson on the boat when Tim filmed this at the Newport Boatshow - at the time the dinghy had not arrived, and we thought it would need to be deflated. I can tell you that an Aermarine 270 cabrio with the folding transom, to allow the outboard motor to stay mounted, but fold flat into the dinghy, fits in there, without having to deflate it. My mistake - not Tim/Practical Sailors.

The dinghy garage is enough for me to say no to this. I don't want the hassle of inflating and deflating the dingy not to mention having to manhandle the out board on and off. It would be like having a garage for your car and having to take the tires on and off every time you used it. Everything else can be as nice as it wants, that is a deal breaker for me.

Don't be confused by this video. Of course you don't need to inflate/deflate your dinghy. He has asked about using a specific size dinghy. The reply to which was, yes that particular size will fit but you will need to deflate it. Simply choose a size of dinghy that fits when inflated. Watch the Hanse video for the 510. It's exactly the same garage. The dinghy, with outboard attached, fits in and out perfectly. But a slightly larger tender than that will fit, if deflated.

@@AdeboFunkyVoodoo Can you tell us what size dinghy works? I have a 7.5ft freshwater quality Zodiac style so hard for me to imagine 8ft is adequate for $1M boat. We're barely comfortable with 2 people @ 300 lbs, 30lb dog, 52 lbs battery and 30 lb-ft trolling motor.
@AdeboFunkyVoodoo15 сағат бұрын
@artsmith103 I think from memory it's 2.7m so just shy of 9ft. That's inflated. The channel was talking about a 10ft tender. I think for how most people will use this type of boat a 2.7m tender will suffice. That will typically be rated for three or four passengers. I've seen the larger 54DS with various types/styles of aftermarket davits for those that want a larger tender or who just want to use the garage as storage. I have no idea if that's an option for this model though.

These do seem to be the only Deck Saloon Ya BT’s that can actually be Comfortable in the Tropics, thanks to that Cockpit design and overhead Shading, which allows the Doors into the Deck Saloon to be Kept open during the Day ? I really like the Sirius Deck Saloons as well, but you need to add a large Cockpit Bimini and there are issues with clear headroom for Air Circulation, and room for fitting air Conditioning, which sadly appears to be much better handled by the newer Catalina’s, though tbh, I am a massive fan of the Sirius Twin Keels option, plus the three Position Jefa Steering. If I didn’t need to head to the Tropics, I would buy a Sirius. 🤔

Theres increasingly a space for good sailing boats that also make familly cruising sailing across cold temperate and tropical zones... Cold, noise and heat make for fatigued sailors and fractious famillies.. And when you get to your destination ...who wants to sit in a submarine standing on tip toe or stooping to look out of a catflap sized window. Odd life sailing are building their own Al hull sailing vessel and visited Sirrius yatchs. The other cost effective French alternatives are the PlyWood/Epoxy RMs .. there's usualy only a single or couple of steps down on most modern French design's into the cabin. They have also largely become the modern masters of the twin/ bilge keel / beachable yatchs. Important in areas of high tidal ranges or if your going to live off grid and need to anchor or get stuff done ..without having to careen a boat and refloat it on a rising tide with an unexpected swell.

I know it’s a personal thing but you only need 1 helm and 1 rudder, everything else is just cost and maintenance. It’s ok but check out the Sirius DS
@AdeboFunkyVoodoo22 сағат бұрын
Except that isn't really true. Some boats need one rudder. Some need two. Serius even do boats with three. Your own recommended builder disproves your argument. They recognise that certain designs require two rudders and they throw in a third, so that you retain prop wash over a rudder for low speed manoeuvring. It's fine to prefer or want only one. I don't understand the need to pretend that everyone else should prefer, want or even need the same thing.

As I said it’s a personal choice, what’s not true about more rudders = more cost and more maintenance, if you enjoy being heeled over then maybe 2 rudders works, but as a cruiser it would be far more comfortable to remain more upright, check out the Sirius DS, again personal choice but I like the twin keels version.
@AdeboFunkyVoodoo18 сағат бұрын
@@paulstephens5229 no, you said you only "need" one. And said it was a choice to have two. Yes it's a choice to buy a boat with one rudder as a preference but wider beam boats "need" two. So there is no choice involved with a wide beam boat. It's two (or three) rudders or a different boat design. It's a false argument to say you only need one. You only "need" one sail. So anybody with more than one has clearly chosen the wrong boat. Extra cost, extra maintenance etc... You fools!

More recently, a good Friend Mechanic, had to scrub BMW Computer Software, and totally rewrite it just to get one of their cars working again, due to the number of false breakdowns that had been coded into the original Software, and seems the rest of the German Car Makdrs are up to the same Tricks. A Friend used to buy Mercedes Cars and Vans for his Business, and had so many problems, he now buys Ford Vans and Cars. Touch wood, so far so good. Oh same goes for German Kitchen Appliances by the way, appalling Customer feedback on reliability, and Customer Service ? Even Worse.
